AUTHORIZED INSPECTION

1.1. The Authorized Inspector (AI) is the Inspector required by the Code, employed by
an ASME accredited Authorized Inspection Agency (AIA) with whom WA has an
Agreement to perform the inspection services required by the Code, and who
holds a valid National Board Commission with “A" or ''A R'' endorsement for new
construction and IS and AI for R Stamp.
1.2. The inspection agreement shall be maintained with the AIA of record. The
required inspection services at shop and field sites shall be provided by the AIA of
record. However, other AIA may provide the inspection services only at field site
when the AIA of record is unable to provide the inspection services at a specific
field site. In such case an agreement for specific work with other AIA shall be
made.
The above program shall be accepted by the AIA of record.
1.3. The Quality Control Manager arranges for the AI to have free access to the shop,
field sites and subcontractors facilities wherever Code work is being performed.
1.4. When requested by the AI, inspection points will be inserted in the Inspection &
Test Plan for those operations he may wish to witness or verify before work
proceeds.
1.5. The Quality Control Manager is the Company's liaison with the AI, and is
responsible for keeping him informed of the progress of Code work so that he may
make his designated inspections.
1.6. The AI has access to and is provided with all drawings, calculations,
specifications, procedures, process sheets, repair records, test and examination
results, inspection records and any other documents to perform his duties.
1.7. Non-conformity Reports for Code non-conformities are submitted to the AI
together with proposals for dispositions for his review and acceptance.
1.8. Defects in material may be repaired provided acceptance by the AI is first
obtained for the method and extent of repairs.
1.9. The Quality Control Manager shall notify the AI sufficiently in advance of
approaching hold points so that he may be present to witness them.
1.10. The final records, together with the completed Manufacturer's Data Report
certified by the Quality Control Manger, are submitted to the AI for his
authorization to apply the Code Certification Mark and signature when he has
satisfied himself that all Code requirements have been met.
1.11. A current controlled copy of the Quality Control Manual is made available for use
by the AI at shop and field site.
1.12. The AI of the AIA of record shall be given the opportunity to review all changes to
the Quality Control Manual, before they are issued to Manual Holders.
1.13. The Quality Control Manager shall assist the Authorized Inspector Supervisor
(AIS) during his required audits, and the AI whilst monitoring the Quality Control
System.
1.14. The Quality Control Manager shall notify the ASME and NB whenever the
agreement with AIA of record is cancelled or changed to another accredited
Authorized Inspection Agency.
