EMD MICROPROJECT
Title of Micro-Project – Different ypes of levers and springs used in bike bicycle
auto rickshaw moped and write their specification and basis for selection
1.0: RATIONALE: -
This Micro project helps us in getting the knowledge about different types of lever
Different types of levers and their applications
We first started making the chart. We find the relevant information which we needed for this
work from the text book and google. We then started looking for the pictures for this micro
project which will make our micro project more attractive.
Then we found the photos some examples of daily life components and made a chart showing
the various load and stress on the components.
ANNEXURE 1
Due to this micro project, now I can use the computer system very smoothly.
This micro project taught me team work
This micro project also taught me chart.

1. The lever is a movable bar that pivots on a fulcrum attached to a fixed point. The
lever operates by applying forces at different distances from the fulcrum, or a pivot.
As the lever rotates around the fulcrum, points farther from this pivot move faster
than points closer to the pivot.

2. Applications of hand lever : A) Hand levers are used in various applications across
different industries. Their versatility in transmitting force and motion makes them a
fundamental component in many mechanical systems. Here are some common
applications of hand levers:
3.
4. Bicycles: Hand levers are used for braking and shifting gears on bicycles.
5. Automotive: In manual transmission vehicles, gear shift levers are used to change gears.
Hand levers are also found in the parking brake mechanism.
6. Agriculture: Tractors and farming equipment often use hand levers to control various
functions, such as lifting and lowering implements.
7. Construction and Heavy Machinery: Heavy equipment, like bulldozers and cranes, use
hand levers for precise control of movements and functions.
8. Manufacturing: Hand levers are used in machinery and equipment for tasks like
clamping, bending, and cutting.
9. Valve Controls: In industrial settings, hand levers control valves that manage the flow of
liquids or gases in pipelines.
10.Aerospace: Aircraft may have hand levers for functions like controlling flaps and landing
gear.
11.Marine: In boats and ships, hand levers are used to control throttle and steering.
12.Material Handling: Hand levers can be found in pallet jacks, forklifts, and hoisting
equipment for lifting and moving loads.
13.Musical Instruments: Instruments like accordions and some types of organs use hand
levers to produce sound.
14.Exercise Equipment: Some exercise machines, like rowing machines, use hand levers for
resistance and motion control.
15.Garage Doors: Hand levers or handles are often used to manually open and close garage
doors in the event of a power outage.
16.Factory Equipment: Various machines in manufacturing plants may utilize hand levers
for precise control over manufacturing processes.
17.Railway Switches: Hand levers are used to operate railway switches and signals.
18.Lawn and Garden Equipment: Some lawnmowers and garden tools have hand levers for
height adjustment or to engage cutting blades.

Teacher allotted the groups to us for the Micro-Project, with the help of
the teacher, we selected a topic for Micro -project.
Once the topic was selected, we started collecting the data regarding the topic
of the Micro-Project.
Then we started to analysis the collected data.
Then we make a rough report and then the rough report was sent to the
teacher for error correction.
We did the corrections suggested by teacher such as changing the font, text
size, etc.
Then we all of group members started to make the Chart and report. We
submitted the final report to the teacher.
We submitted the Chart along with the final report to the teacher.
