1. Introduction

Jimma was one of oldest cities where a big marketing


had been held; Jimma is found in Oromiya regional stat at
south west of Ethiopia. now time the socio – economic
activities of Jimma city is increasing at alarming rate, as the
city was distinguished as a central market place not only for
the south- western Ethiopia but also for exporting goods to
foreign countries starting from early 18th century. In this
regard, there are many indicators that show the city is
claiming to its farmhouse of the ancient time trading activities.
The intra regional high road way connecting the city with other
zone and the under construction of Jimma international Air
port can be listed among the most influential constructions
that can aggravate the development of socio-economic
activities of the city. In other hand the alarmingly increasing
rate of urbanization with number of population having a great
demand for various commodities and luxurious items is
playing an important role in striking the over all economic
activities of the city Jimma.

Moreover, there is a substantial increase in per-


capita income of the local community farmers and the
merchant community. Also the significantly increasing
number of private limiter's, NGO’s and governmental
institutions, construction of commercial buildings and fluffing
of infrastructure facilities would all possibly bring about the
perceptible effect on the city’s socio-economic development.

As a result of assumptions and facts with the research


results and also the conductive investment policy of the
government pushed the promoters’ of this project and the

share holders’ of Dibora Commercial Center P.L.C. initiated and


decided to invest 2,411,350.00 Eth. Birr in order to establish
and built a modern type of G+4 commercial building in Jimma
city, Hermata merkato kebele at the central market place of
the city called Merkato in order to satisfy the physical as well
as the psychological need of the city’s and neigh boring
community.

Therefore, the promoters’ of this project prepared this


project feasibility study document in order to show the
viability of the proposed project in the city. Thus, the
promoters’ are hope full in that the city investment office
together with the city administration will read the document
thoroughly and give an immediate response for their request.
