Dear Parents,

SUBJECT: ECOINNOVATE FAIR- WSS SECONDARY SCIENCE EXPO, 2023-24

The WSS Secondary Science Department will be hosting a Science Expo in January, an event that promises to
showcase the creativity, innovation, and scientific prowess of our students. It aims to provide an opportunity for the
students to explore various scientific concepts, conduct experiments, and present their findings in an engaging and
interactive manner.

Details are as follows:

Year groups: Y7-13


Date: January 15th, 2024 (Girls)
January 16th, 2024 (Boys)
Time: 9:00 am – 2:00pm

Exhibits: Selected projects showcasing Curriculum/ theme-oriented, and students own independent work.
Theme: Sustainability
Selection Process: Submit the project on or before 11th January, 2024 to the respective Science teachers for the
selection round.

Requirements for the project:

• Still model/working model/ prototype/posters.

• Well-explained plan, including the procedure, materials required and principle.

• Please take permission from Section SLT before planning an activity that may have safety concerns, such
as hazardous solutions, or materials for the demonstration. Items with a flame are not allowed.

1 Debate Y10-13 The goal of the debate competition is to offer students a
platform for improving their critical thinking, public speaking,
and teamwork abilities. The debate topic will be disclosed
exclusively to those who have completed the registration
process.

2 Science Quiz Y7-10 As we continue to cultivate an environment that values


knowledge, curiosity, and global awareness, the live quiz has
been designed to engage students in a dynamic and informative
manner. The quiz not only assesses their current knowledge but
also inspires a continuous interest in exploring solutions to
global challenges through sustainable and innovative practices.
3 Eco Fancy-dress Y7-13 The fancy-dress competition aims to merge the worlds of
imagination, environmental consciousness, and innovative
thinking. Participants are encouraged to come dressed as
scientists, characters, elements, or concepts that symbolize
sustainability and innovation. This could include representations
of eco-friendly superheroes, futuristic inventors, renewable
energy sources, or even iconic symbols associated with
environmental conservation/sustainability. We encourage you to
collaborate with your child in creating a costume that aligns with
the theme and sparks their passion for these critical topics.

4 Celestial Shutter Y12-13 The Celestial Shutter Fest is a platform to celebrate the wonders
fest Astro- of the night sky and your ability to freeze those mesmerizing
photography moments in time. Students are supposed to submit high-
Competition resolution images in JPEG or PNG format. Acceptable images
include pictures of the night sky and astronomical objects.
Images must be original and not digitally altered to a degree that
significantly changes the content. Include a brief description for
each image, mentioning the equipment used, location, and any
interesting details. The link for submission will be shared with
the students those who register. Acceptable subjects include
pictures of the night sky and astronomical objects.
