For Bachelor programs
at the XU Exponential University of Applied Sciences
Admission Criteria
Please note that in order to get admitted into an undergraduate program, you have to hold university entrance
qualifications that are equivalent to the German A-Levels (“Abitur“). The entrance requirements for international
applicants vary according to the country where the university entrance qualification was obtained and are set by
the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs (KMK). These are binding for all Ger-
man universities. In many cases the requirements for entrance depend on the country of origin/country where the
secondary school certificate was obtained.

Since all programs are taught in English, applicants are also required to provide proof of proficiency in English (at
least B2 according to the CEFR). The following requirements must be met:

IELTS 5.5, 6.0, 6.5

TOEFL TOEFL iBT (78-107) | TOEFL CBT (207-262)


TOEFL PBT (543-626) | TOEFL ITP Level 1 (543-626)

Cambridge English Language Cambridge First Certificate in English (FCE)


Assessment Cambridge English: Business Vantage (BEC Vantage)
Cambridge English: Legal (ILEC) | Cambridge English: Financial (ICFE)

Cambridge IGCSE GCSE 1st Language with average B2


IGCSE 2nd langauge with average B2

TOEIC TOEIC Listening and Reading Test (785-944)

Application and Admissions Process


For Applicants holding German University Entrance Qualifications for WiSe 2021/22
1 Fill in the online application form
Please submit the following documents with your application:
• All pages of your university entrance qualifications (e.g. A-Levels/“Abitur“) OR current mid-term transcript
• Current CV (1-2 pages; in tabular form)
• If applicable: relevant certificates (language certificates), (job) reference letters, etc.
If you do not have all the necessary documents at the time of application, you are welcome to submit them
later.

2 Evaluation of the application documents by the XU Admissions Team

3 Questionnaire on your individual motivation and suitability for your chosen program:
We’d like to learn more about you and your individual motivation and suitability for studies at XU. Thus, we
have created a short questionnaire for each degree program that will be sent to you in this step.

4 Admission and Enrollment


After we have received all required information from you, we’re evaluating your eligibility for your chosen
program. If the decision is positive, we’ll issue an official admission letter as well as the study contract.

For the enrollment, we’d need the following matriculation documents:

1. Signed study contract


2. Signed payment plan (except: students, that fund their studies through Chancen eG)
3. Certified physical copy of your university entrance qualification (e.g. A-Levels or vocational training
certificate)
4. Health insurance certificate (or excemption from the statutory health insurance for those who are
privately insured)
5. Filled and signed request for matriculation

For Applicants holding International University Entrance Qualifications for WiSe 2021/22
1 Fill in the Online Application form to register
Please submit the following documents with your application:
• All pages of your university entrance qualifications (e.g. seconary school certificate)
• Current CV in tabular form (1-2 pages)
• Proof of English proficiency (at least B2 according to the CEFR)
• If applicable: relevant certificates (language certificates), (job) reference letters, etc.
• The XU Admissions Team will get back to you with feedback regarding the next steps

2 Evaluation of your application documents by uni-assist


All applicants holding international university entrance qualifications are required to apply through our
cooperation partner uni-assist on their platform myassist. Uni-assist will evaluate whether you are eligible to
study at a German university at a bachelor’s level based on your formal qualifications. You can find more
information in the Guidelines for Prospective International Students.

3 Evaluation of your application documents by XU Admissions Team


• Once uni-assist has evaluated your eligibility to study at a German university, XU will do a final evaluation of
your eligibility for your chosen degree program at XU.
• We’ll take both uni-assist formal evaluation as well as the admission criteria specific to your chosen degree
program into consideration.

4 Questionnaire on your individual eligibility and motivation for studies at XU


We’d like to get to know our candidates better and learn more about their individual motivation. Thus, we
have designed a short questionnaire for each degree program that will be sent to you in this step.

5 Admission and Enrollment


After we have received all required information from you, we’re evaluating your eligibility for your chosen
program. If the decision is positive, we’ll issue an official admission letter as well as the study contract.
