RATIONALE

Play-based learning is an educational approach that has gained

significant attention in recent years due to its potential to enhance
the learning experience of elementary learners. Play-based learning
is founded on the idea that children learn best when they are
actively engaged in activities that are meaningful and enjoyable.
This approach aligns with the developmental stages of elementary
learners, who are naturally curious and eager to explore their
environment.

RATIONALE

O Teachers play a pivotal role in the successful implementation of

play-based learning. Their competence in understanding the
principles of play-based education, designing appropriate
activities, and effectively managing the classroom is essential.
O Evaluating teachers' competence in implementing play-based
methods is crucial to understand the potential barriers or
facilitators to its success. Play is not only enjoyable but rather it
is the child’s stimulator and motivational agent to creative
thinking and cultural engagement. There is growing evidence
that teaching using physically active and playful approaches can
enhance indicators of academic achievement (Bautista, 2021).

RATIONALE

Thus, this study aims to determine the effectiveness of

play- based learning of elementary learners, teachers’
competence, and academic performance in Poona-
Piagapo District and Kauswagan District Schools, Division
of Lanao del Norte, School Year 2023-2024.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

 Research Instruments to be Used

The study will use an adopted and modified survey

questionnaire. The survey will answer questions on the use
of play-based learning activities among elementary
learners, teacher’s competencies. The survey questions will
be designed to measure the level of agreement or
disagreement of the respondents with each statement on a
4-point Likert scale, with 4 indicating strongly agree and 1
indicating disagree.
