9 Scope
General Background:
a) NB45-003 E01.28 NSC Radar System.exe
9.1 Standard Radar Installation via USB-Stick

This Program does control the build of an USB-Stick, that shall have the complete software for a complete
software update of a NSC Processor / NSC N Processor on the Stick.
The main part is a batch file, witch does call every self extracting archive file for the NSC Processor after
each other.
The archive does unzip the software and copies them to the right directories on the USB-Stick.
If the Operating System of the NSC Radar shall be updated too, the USB-Stick has to be formatted as a
bootable device for USB-ZIP drive.

10 Standard Radar Installation
10.1 Steps after finishing Software Installation and Configuration:

Save configuration via EggShell function:
Service Export Radar Display Configuration

This function will save the actual configuration of the Radar Display and a files witch represent the fingerprint
of the done update of the software.
The configuration is a collection of files, which is stored on a USB-Stick. The USB Stick MUST be a Update
Stick, with the Radar Software on it.
The configuration is stored on the stick in the following folder:
\\RAYTHEON\Display_a (for Display A)

\\RAYTHEON\Display_b (for Display B) and so on.
IMPORTANT: This configuration must send back to Raytheon Anschütz for put them into
archives

10.2 Build of the USB-Stick
♦ Copy Software from Server to a PC with USB Port

♦ File „NB45-003 E01.28 NSC Radar System.exe“ to be copied direct from Server to a normal PC with
USB Port
♦ Plug USB-Stick into the PC and wait for readyness.
♦ USB-Stick shall be new or free from any virus
♦ USB-Stick shall have minimum 256 MB
♦ USB-Stick shall have the possiblity to be write protected
♦ Start the selfextracting file „NB45-003 E01.28 NSC Radar System.exe“ from the PC
♦ The following window will appears:
♦ Destination disk / path shall be the letter of the USB-Stick. No further Path is required.
♦ On the USB Stick the path „UPDATE“ is generated.
♦ If there are already files on the stick, e.g. update.bat, „all“ shall be pressed for confirming the overwriting
of all files.
♦ The directory UPDATE content the following files
♦ Update.bat
♦ Updatestart.bat
The USB-Stick is now completed.

10.3 Update Process on the NSC Processor / NSC M Processor

♦ Start the NSC Radar in the User Mode
♦ Connect the USB-Stick with the Update Software copied from the RMG Software Server to the USB Stick
♦ Choose the EggShell Menue: : „Service Raytheon Update from USB memory“
♦ Enter Password TS145JDM
♦ On new systems and on systems with Radar software older then E01.11, the following dialog
appears:
♦ You need to tell the system the type of the device by choosing the correct drawing number.
♦ Chart Radar and other non standard systems needs a ‘4’ for other as input and a new dialog appears:

♦ The further Updateprocess is controlled via a DOS-Command window and runs with one exception
complete automaticly without operator interaction.
Update Steps:
♦ Search for an Update on the USB Stick
♦ Search for an already installed software on the NSC Processor
♦ Delete the old installation on the NSC Processor
♦ Unzip and copy all needed software components
♦ Setup Registry
♦ The command window will show 14 different steps during the update.
♦ In Step 13 the flash procedure for the Fujitsu shall be done.
♦ Press “Full Operation”
♦ If a message in this Programmer window appears, that the flash process fails with no success, try it
again.
♦ For NSC M Processor Hardware (950-005.NGxxx/Saxxx), witch was installed with a complete new
operating system ( Raytheon Windows Image PROG0109) , the flashing of the Fujitsu Software was
prompted by an information window to be flashed after the first reboot after the update process.by starting
Fujitsu flashing via eggshell entry.

♦ Chart Radar Installation Part:

♦ This installation window for the chart functionality does only appear, when the NSC M Processor was
build for the Chart Radar function.
♦ Confirm this window with “Install”

♦ The C-MAP SDK is now installed:
♦ Confirm this window with “Close”

♦ The Update process is now complete.

♦ The Update process will now reboot the Radar display and the following warning is displayed and needs
to be confirmed:
♦ For NSC Processor:
♦ When the Update is done on a version E01.00 or older, the system needs FOUR automatic
reboot sequences. This must be confirmed in an extra message box:
♦ For NSC M Processor (e.g. Chart Radar, Multi Function Console):
The NSC Processor / NSC M Processor will now be rebooted automatically.
REMARK:
After booting the Radar, the Radar Application is started automatically without showing the eggshell.

10.4 Update process on the A3300M
10.4.1 New installation
• Start the NSC radar in administrator mode

• Connect the USB-Stick with the update software copied from the RMG software server to the USB
Stick.
• Start the explorer.exe and double click updatestart.bat on the USB-Stick in folder Update.

• Save file and close the editor.

• Now push the button OK in the message box.
• After reboot the system starts in user mode.
• Choose “Explorer” and push the button “Run Selection”.

• The Explorer will be shown on in the display.

• The Power Schema have to be set to “Presentation”.
