COAGULATION STUDY REPORT
Test Description Result Unit Biological Reference Ranges
PROTHROMBIN TIME (PTINR)
Prothrombin Time for Patient's Plasma 15.3 Sec. 11 - 16
Prothrombin Time for control plasma 13.0 Sec.
International Normalised Ratio INR 1.2 0.8 - 1.2
NOTE :-
Kindly Correlate Clinically And With Treatment.
Please Repeat Again Sample, Reapeat If Necessary.

Interpretation :
The prothrombin time (PT) and international normalized ratio (INR) are measures of the extrinsic pathway of coagulation. The INR is
used only for patients on stable oral anticoagulant therapy. It makes no significant contribution to the diagnosis or treatment of patients
whose PT is prolonged for other reasons.
Increased PT times may be due to:
Factor deficiencies( X , II , V , I ), Coumadin (warfarin) therapy, Liver Diseases (Bile duct obstruction, Cirrhosis , Hepatitis),
Hemmorhagic Disaease of the newborn, DIC, Malabsorption, Fibrinolysis, Vitamin K deficiency.
Interference in PT/INR Alcohol, antibiotics, aspirin, cimetidine, thrombin Inhibitors(Increase PT) Barbiturates, oral contraceptives,
Hormone replacement therapy (HRT), and vitamin K (Decrease PT).

SEROLOGY & IMMUNOLOGY REPORT
Test Description Result Unit Biological Reference Ranges
HIV I & II
HIV - I Non-Reactive
HIV - II Non-Reactive
NOTE:- This is only a screening test. Test result should be confirmed by ELISA/Western blot method
INTERPRETATION:
POSITIVE result indicates presence of antibodies to HIV virus. False positive results are also seen in other diseases. It is
recommended to follow up a positive result with a specific test like Western Blot.
NEGATIVE result does not always eliminate risk of HIV infection. A window period (where the test may be negative) is seen for a few
weeks after infection.
The Patient is advised to undergo Pre-test and post-test counselling with the referring physician.

HBsAg -Hepatitis B surface antigen NON REACTIVE

Method : Card Test BY HEPACARD
Clinical significance:
Hepatitis B Surface Antigen with Reflex Confirmation - Surface antigen usually appears in the serum after an incubation period of 1 to 6
months following exposure to Hepatitis B virus and peaks shortly after onset of symptoms. It typically disappears within 1 to 3 months.
Persistence of Hepatitis B surface antigen for greater than 6 months is a prognostic indicator of chronic Hepatitis B infection.

Hepatitis C Virus(HCV), Rapid NON-REACTIVE

Screening
Method: Immunochromatography
Method : Bioline HCV (Abbott) in vitro immunochromatography assay
Interpretation:
These tests detect antibodies to HCV (anti-HCV) and are used for screening and diagnosing HCV infection. Results are reported as
anti-HCV positive or negative values. These tests have very high sensitivity and specificity for HCV detection.
A negative test is sufficient to exclude a diagnosis of chronic HCV infection in immune-competent patients. Those on hemodialysis
an patients with immune deficiencies may have false-negative results, whereas false-positives may occur in patients with autoimmune
disorders.
Note : This test is screening test and all positive test must be confirmed using an alternate test such as ELISA/ PCR.
