In this example, the input of a plate with columns is created.

Dimensions of the plate: 16m*16m, t=300mm
Dimensions of the column: 300*300mm, h=4m
The distance between the columns: 8m
Choose the option 'General XYZ'. This is the only possibility because of the fact that both 1D and 2D elements will be
used.
Select the grade C30/37
Click OK
First of all, a view in direction Z is taken for the input of the horizontal plate
Select 2D member
Double-click on the item Plate
The property menu of the plate opens. Here the parameters can be regarded and adapted if desired.
A thickness of 300 mm is inserted
Click OK
Click on 'New rectangle' for the geometry of the plate
The first point is input in the origin of the axis
The second point is on 16;16m
Press Esc to end the input
Press Esc key to end the selection
Select the option 'Zoom all'
Now, the columns can be input. The border columns are input in the end points and middle points of the plate. For this,
the parameters of the snap mode have to be verified.
Select snap mode
The options Midpoints and Endpoints are checked. So, this is ok and we can close the snap mode.
Click OK
For the internal column, there is no existing node. For this, an internal node (2D member > 2D member components) has
to be inserted.
Double-click on the item 'Internal node'
The coordinates Xand Y (8;8) are inserted in the command line
Press Esc to end the command
Double-click on the item Column
The Cross-Sections dialog opens. The rectangular concrete section is automatically selected.
Click the -> button to add this cross-section
The dimensions of the cross-section are 300x300mm
Click OK
Click Close
Click Close
The length of the column is 4m
The columns will be inserted by means of the top as insertion point.

So, select the item 'top'.
Click OK
The columns are inserted in the edge and middle points of the plate
Press Esc key to end the command
Press Esc key to end the selection
A zoom in AXO is taken
Select this icon to show the volumes of the structure
Select this icon to render the structure
Now, the columns have to be connected with the plate. If this activity is not performed, the structure will become unstable.
So go to 'Connect members/nodes' and select this option.
Click Yes
The Setup for connection of structural entities dialog opens.

Select the option Check structure data. On that way, an extra check on the structure is performed.
Click OK
Click OK
Now, the check will be performed.
For this, click on Check
Click OK
Select this icon to unrender the structure
Select this icon to hide the volumes
Now, the supports can be inserted. For this, we can select all the nodes at the bottom by means of the filter.
Select this node with coordinate Z=-0.4m
And select the property coord Z [m]
If one clicks on the icon with the filter, every element with the same property (namely Coord Z) will be selected.
So, select the highlighted icon
Now, all the nodes at the bottom are selected
Finally, a hinged support can be input.

Click on the shortcut to add these nodal supports.
Press Esc
To finish, the structure is rendered again
The structure can be shown also as transparant (so the internal column will be also visible) with rendered supports.
For this, go to 'Set view parameters for all' (after clicking on the right mouse button)
Under the tab Misc, the style of the model and loads can be put on rendered.
Select rendered
Select the Structure tab
Under the option rendering, the style of drawing can be changed
Select the item transparent
This can be closed by clicking OK
