Title of the Project ( କ ର ଶୀଷକ):

Securing Your Connection: Staying Safe on Public Wi-Fi Networks with Mobile Devices and Laptops

Introduction (ଉପ ମ):

Public Wi-Fi networks have become an essential part of our daily lives, providing us with the convenience
of accessing the internet while on the move. However, these networks also pose security risks that can
compromise sensitive information, personal data, and even financial security. This project report aims to
highlight the security challenges posed by public Wi-Fi networks and the vital steps individuals must take
to safeguard their digital life in these environments. It will explore the risks and benefits of public Wi-Fi,
discuss security measures, and present real-world case studies to underscore the importance of vigilance in
an interconnected world. By the end of this report, individuals will be equipped with the knowledge and
tools to navigate the digital landscape safely, ensuring that the convenience of public Wi-Fi doesn't come
at the cost of their security.

1. "Real-World Wi-Fi Attacks and How to Defend Against Them" by David Bisson - This article
offers insights into real-world Wi-Fi attacks, emphasizing the need for security measures.
2. "Why Free Wi-Fi Comes at a Cost: Privacy and Security Concerns" by Kevin Flynn - This article
discusses the potential trade-offs between convenience and security when using public Wi-Fi.
3. "Wi-Fi Security: An Exploratory Study of Risks and Safeguards" by Wendi Heinzelman and
Jyotika Prasad - This study investigates security risks and safeguards in Wi-Fi networks, including
public ones.
4. "Understanding Public Wi-Fi Security: A Case Study Analysis" by Tariq Elahi, et al. - This
research investigates the security practices and awareness of users on public Wi-Fi networks,
shedding light on potential shortcomings.
Objectives (ଆଭି ମଖ
ୁ ):

1. To Raise Awareness: Increase user awareness about the security risks associated with public Wi-
Fi networks when using mobile devices.
2. To Identify Security Risks: Identify and outline the various security threats that users face when
connecting to public Wi-Fi networks.
3. To Promote Best Practices: Educate users about best practices for secure internet browsing on
public Wi-Fi networks with mobile devices.
4. To Provide Practical Guidance: Offer practical guidance and steps that users can take to
safeguard their online activities on public Wi-Fi networks with mobile devices.

Research Methodology (ଗେବଷଣା ପ ତି):

The success of this project hinges on the methodical approach employed to investigate the intricacies of
securing connections on public Wi-Fi networks with mobile devices. To ensure a comprehensive and well-
rounded exploration of the topic, a mixed-methods research design will be utilized, integrating both
quantitative and qualitative research methods.

Scope (ଗେବଷଣା ପରି ଷର):

1. Security Aspects: This is a fundamental focus of the study, encompassing security risks, best
practices, and effective security measures relevant to public Wi-Fi network users.
2. Security Measures: Understanding various security measures like encryption, Virtual Private
Networks (VPNs), two-factor authentication (2FA), and secure browsing habits is critical for users
to protect themselves on public Wi-Fi networks.
3. User Behavior: Investigating user behavior and awareness is crucial in identifying potential
vulnerabilities and addressing them with appropriate security recommendations.
4. Recommendations: Providing practical recommendations for users is one of the primary goals of
the study, ensuring that the findings can be translated into actionable steps for secure internet use
on public Wi-Fi networks with mobile devices.
