ISOTONIC CONTRACTION
Definition:
 Isotonic muscle contraction produces limb movement without a change in
muscle tension.
 Isotonic contractions are performed by lifting a constant weight.
 Isotonic contractions can be performed using free weights or weight
machines and can be approximated with manual resistance by the therapist.
Example:
1. Weight bearing exercise with squads.

2. During a biceps curl, holding the dumbbell in and actively raising or lowering
it.
