"A STUDY ON GAMBLING AND ITS IMPACTS ON YOUTHS IN BANGALORE"

INTRODUCTION

TITLE OF THE STUDY:

The recent growth of gambling problems among youth around the world is alarming Researchers,
clinicians, educators and the public have only begun to recognize the significance of this risky adolescent
behaviour. With the continuous rise in gambling technology and the expansion of the gambling industry,
more gambling opportunities exist today than ever before. Gambling and Decision Making: A Study on
Selected Games, is a study that concentrates on gambling products. Its impact and influence on the
saving habits, the spending pattern of disposable income and the factors attracting them towards
gambling are analysed with the help of vast literature in this area. Sweepstakes possess two out of three
features of gambling products, that is chance and prize. Those who prefer sweepstakes like sales
promotion tools may have an inclined towards gambling, Usually, risk seekers are very much attracted
towards these sales promotions, and this will reflect in their buying behaviour in different ways. this
section, literature of previous studies was examined based on two major classifications. The first part is
related to the social and economic influence of gambling and the Second part of the reviews based on
the influence of various sales promotion tools on the buying behaviour of customers, with special
reference to Gambling Related Sales Promotion tools (Sweepstakes). The prevailing attitudes of
governments and the general population indicate that new gambling venues (e.g., casino expansion) will
continue to rapidly expand. Gambling, or gaming (the widely accepted industry terminology), is no
longer a vice accompanied by negative connotations and stigmatization but rather a legitimate form of
entertainment. Today's lottery corporations deliberately associate the proceeds of lottery sales with
funding of public education and health/social welfare initiatives.

Gambling has become a popular form of recreation for adolescents. While legislative statutes generally
prohibit youth from participating in legalized forms of gambling, there is little doubt that they engage in
both legal and illegal forms of gambling
