REPORT TITLE: REPORT ON THE CONSULATIVE MEETING BETWEEN


CAF AND ACT!

I. Introduction:
The consultative meeting between the County Assemblies Forum (CAF) and ACT! was held
on 7th August 2023 with the aim of reviving the collaborative framework between the two
institutions and identifying areas of cooperation. The main agenda of the meeting was to
discuss potential partnership opportunities and establish a roadmap for future collaboration.
II. DESCRIPTION OF MISSION ACHIEVEMENTS/TASKS COMPLETED:
During the meeting, the following achievements and tasks were completed:
1. ACT! informed CAF about the involvement of FCDO's projects through Westminster
Foundation and PWC. This understanding will lay the foundation for potential
collaboration between ACT! and CAF on relevant projects.
2. CAF sought support from ACT! in several areas, including assistance in publishing its
Mid-Reviewed Strategic Plan and sharing key publications on Governance.
3. A resolution was reached to involve CAF in an upcoming project led by the Senate,
which focuses on reviewing the impeachment process in Kenya and developing a
handbook manual on the Impeachment process. This will promote knowledge sharing and
strengthen institutional cooperation.
4. The collaborative framework between CAF and ACT! was formally revived, setting the
stage for ongoing engagement and partnership.

III. Recommendations/ Next steps/Follow-up actions: Based on the discussions held during
the consultative meeting, the following recommendations and next steps were identified:
1. ACT! will provide CAF with relevant materials and publications on Governance for
uploading on its website, enhancing CAF's resource base and knowledge-sharing
capabilities.
2. ACT! will collaborate with CAF in the project involving the Senate's review of the
impeachment process and the development of a handbook manual. Both parties will work
together to ensure the success of the project.
3. ACT! will assist CAF in publishing its Mid-Reviewed Strategic Plan, ensuring that the
plan is effectively communicated to stakeholders and partners.
4. Both CAF and ACT! will explore opportunities to work together on upcoming projects
and initiatives, leveraging each other's strengths and expertise.
IV. Key observations/Remarks: During the meeting, it was observed that both CAF and ACT!
share a common interest in promoting good governance and institutional collaboration. The
willingness of both parties to engage in meaningful projects and initiatives is a positive sign of
the potential impact of this renewed partnership.
V. Brief description of next steps/Follow-up actions: Following the consultative meeting, the
next steps and follow-up actions are as follows:
1. ACT! will compile and share relevant publications on Governance with CAF for
uploading on its website.
2. ACT! and CAF will collaborate closely on the Senate's project involving the review of
the impeachment process and the development of a handbook manual.
3. CAF will work with ACT! to finalize and publish its Mid-Reviewed Strategic Plan,
enhancing its strategic communication efforts.
4. Both institutions will continue to engage in regular discussions to identify further areas of
collaboration and partnership.
VI. Additional information, lessons learned, and partnership possibilities emerged as a
result of networking activities: Through networking activities during the meeting, both CAF
and ACT! identified the potential for broader collaboration beyond the initial scope of the
discussed projects. Lessons learned include the importance of open communication, shared
goals, and leveraging each other's resources to achieve meaningful outcomes. The partnership
possibilities include joint research initiatives, capacity-building programs, and knowledge-
sharing platforms that could further enhance the impact of both institutions' work.
