I
am overwhelmed
by my
addiction.
I
can't picture
a life of
sobriety
for myself.
I
think about food all the time,
even when I'm

not eating.
My compulsive behaviors
leave me
emotionally bankrupt.
I
can't stop viewing
pornography.
I
am consumed
with the thought of placing my

next bet.
My urges to
spend money and buy
new things
are out of control.

I
can't get through the day
without knowing where I'll get my
next drink.
In moments of honesty,
I realize I can't control my addictive behavior,
but those moments are
fleeting.
I feel powerless
to change.
You are not alone.

God is present in the midst of struggle. Learn more about the hope that changes addiction
through video stories and scripture below.

The things I don't want to do,

I keep doing.
The things I want to do,
I cannot do.
- Paul,
The Bible

God
hears me.

God
loves me
and
forgives me.

God
transforms me
and gives me the power
to begin a new life.
I love the Lord because he hears me;

he listens to my prayers.

He listens to me every time I call to him.

The danger of death was all around me;

the horrors of the grave closed in on me;

I was filled with fear and anxiety.

Then I called to the Lord,

"I beg you, Lord, save me!"

Psalm 116:1-4

I waited patiently for the Lord's help;

then he listened to me and heard my cry.

He pulled me out of a dangerous pit,

out of the deadly quicksand.

He set me safely on a rock

and made me secure.

Psalm 40:1-2

And yet, I am the God who forgives your sins, and I do this because of who I am. I will
not hold your sins against you.

Isaiah 43:25

The Lord is merciful and loving, slow to

become angry and full of constant love.

As high as the sky is above the earth, so

great is his love for those who honor him.

As far as the east is from the west, so far

does he remove our sins from us.

Psalm 103:8,11-12

But if we confess our sins to God,

he will keep his promise and do what is right:

he will forgive us our sins and purify us

from all our wrongdoing.

1 John 1:9

Do not conform yourselves to the standards of this world, but let God transform you
inwardly by a complete change of your mind. Then you will be able to know the will of
God--what is good and is pleasing to him and is perfect.

Romans 12:2

Yes, you may come to know his love -

although it can never be fully known -

and so be completely filled

with the very nature of God.

With God
I can discover
the joy
of being honest.

With God
I can
overcome obstacles.

With God
I can
grow through prayer.
You will never succeed in life if you try to hide your sins. Confess them and give them
up; then God will show mercy to you.

Proverbs 28:13

When I did not confess my sins,

I was worn out from crying all day long.

Then I confessed my sins to you;

I did not conceal my wrongdoings.

I decided to confess them to you,

and you forgave all my sins.

Psalm 32:3,5

For this reason I tell you:

When you pray and ask for something,

believe that you have received it,

and you will be given whatever you ask for.

Mark 11:24

Create a pure heart in me, O God, and put a new and loyal spirit in me. Do not banish me
from your presence; do not take your holy spirit away from me. My sacrifice is a humble
spirit, O God; you will not reject a humble and repentant heart.

Psalm 51:10, 17

As for us, we have this large crowd of witnesses around us. So then, let us rid ourselves
of everything that gets in the way, and of the sin which holds on to us so tightly, and let
us run with determination the race that lies before us. Let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus,
on whom our faith depends from beginning to end.

Hebrews 12:1-2a

I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have
many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.
