Additive Manufacturing (AM)

Additive Manufacturing (AM). Is an appropriate name to

describe the technologies that build 3D objects by adding layer-
upon-layer of material, whether the material is plastic, metal,
concrete or one day… human tissue.

 3D printing or additive manufacturing is the construction of a

three-dimensional object from a CAD model or a digital 3D
model. It can be done in a variety of processes in which material
is deposited, joined or solidified under computer control, with
the material being added together, typically layer by layer.
3D printing processes

A variety of processes, equipment, and materials are used in the

production of a three-dimensional object via additive
manufacturing.
 3D printing or additive manufacturing is a process of making three
dimensional solid objects from a digital file.
 The creation of a 3D printed object is achieved using additive
processes. In an additive process an object is created by laying
down successive layers of material until the object is created. Each
of these layers can be seen as a thinly sliced cross-section of the
object.
 3D printing is the opposite of subtractive manufacturing which is
cutting out / hollowing out a piece of metal or plastic with for
instance a milling machine.
 3D printing enables you to produce complex shapes using less
material than traditional manufacturing methods.
The 7 Main Types of 3D Printing Technology

 Material Extrusion
 Vat Polymerization
 Powder Bed Fusion
 Material Jetting
 Binder Jetting
 Directed Energy Deposition
 Sheet Lamination

Name of the 3D printers

1) AHA-3D, Protocentral 999

2) AHA-Star
3) Deltasys Eforming
4) Zeiss - Comet scanner
5) Single Screw Extruder machine.
AHA-3D, Protocentral 999

 The ProtoCentre 999 is a 3D printer produced by Aha3D.

It uses the Fused Filament Fabrication technology to
produce thermoplastics parts using filament feedstock.
 It offers a build volume of 230 × 230 × 230 mm.

Aha 3D's ProtoCentre 999 is a brilliant machine thanks to its

stable all metal chassis and unique soluble support feature.
AHA-Star

 The Aha Star 1M is a 3D printer produced by Aha3D, a manufacturer

based in India. It uses the Fused Filament Fabrication technology to
produce thermoplastics ...

 It is the gist of the experience of. Aha3D, India's oldest and deeply
seasoned 3D printer design house. Modular design

 Our proprietary Factory of the Future is centered around Stargate, the

world's largest metal 3D printers
Deltasys Eforming

 Deltasys E-Forming is a startup company involved in manufacturing of

3D printing machines and providing engineering services about additive
manufacturing
.

Zeiss - Comet scanner

Comet L3D - 5MP Overview · Fast scanning · Very high resolution &
accuracy · Blue LED technology scans many surface types · Small size
for easy travel and setup ..
Single Screw Extruder machine

 Single-screw extruders are the most widely used polymer

extrusion machines. Although their utility as mixing equipment is
somewhat limited, many compounding ...

 Single Screw Extrusion. Single screw extrusion uses one screw within
a cylindrical barrel to continuously push plastic through a constant
profile die

 The principal function of a single screw extruder is to build up pressure

in thepolymer melt so that the polymer can be extruded through the die.
Most of the single screw extruders are plasticating which mean that the
solid resin balls or powders melt in the screw due to the pressure.

 The advantages of these single screw extruders are that they have
an advanced design, good plasticization, high quality, low energy
consumption, low noise, large bearing capacity, stable operation, and
long life.
Features of 3d printing

 Flexible Design. 3D printing allows for the design

and print of more complex designs than traditional
manufacturing processes. ...
 Rapid Prototyping. ...
 Print on Demand. ...
 Strong and Lightweight Parts. ...
 Fast Design and Production. ...
 Minimising Waste. ...
 Cost Effective. ...
 Ease of Access.
Conclusion on additive manufacturing and 3d printing

 In conclusion, additive manufacturing is faster, cheaper,

more flexible, and wastes less material. It does, however,
have a number of flaws, including a paucity of materials,
poor surface quality, small size, and complexity issues.

 3D printing technology is a major on the original

manufacturing technology, which is slowly changes our
production and life, but also plays an extremely
important role in cultural creative design, industry,
biological and medical fields.
