1 Product Overview and Features

1.1 Product Overview
This machine features the tact time improvement conveyor unit connectable to Saki’s X-Ray inspection
machine, such as BF-X3.

1.2 Features

1.2.1 System Structure

• Connect X3-Booster to the forward and backward of BF-X3, all control is performed from the X-Ray
inspection machine and it operates as one machine.
• This machine is not equipped with an X-Ray irradiation device. Even if it is connected to BF-X3,
this machine is designed to comply with the relevant laws of the EC (European Community) for
X-Ray inspection systems.

1.2.2 Improving Tact Time

• When production by BF-X3 alone, the opening and closing of the X-Ray tube shutter was necessary
at the time of loading and unloading the PCBs, the loss time occurred.
But X3-Booster is connected, because of using both loading / unloading shutter and internal
shutters to loading and unloading of PCBs, able to loading and unloading even during X-Ray
irradiation. And pCT inspection can be executed at the time of loading and unloading the PCBs,
productivity can be improved.

5.1.3 Reading Barcode

When X3-Booster is connected, the tact time will be controlled to be the shortest.
The correspondence with the barcode reader will cause a time lag occured from reading to processing
as shown below.
The inspection result of the bar code that is read becomes the timing (the position of the orange
arrow) taken out from the exit conveyor and is output after 4 time lags.
The inspection result of the barcode is fixed at the timing (the position of the blue arrow) of unload
from X3-Booster (Unloading Unit). Output barcode timing is after four PCBs.

5.2 Auto Inspection Procedure

This section describes how to operate the X-Ray inspection. For details of BF2 inspection software operation,
refer to BF-X3 Instruction Manual and AXI Programming Manual.

5.2.1 Auto Inspection Start Procedure

Step1: Check that no PCBs remain inside of X3-Booster and barcode conveyor.

Step2: Click Start button on the BF2 inspection software to start auto inspection.

Step3: Automatically adjust the conveyor rail width at only for the first time.

Step4: When the conveyor rail width adjustment is completed, the PCB is loaded into the barcode
conveyor and auto inspection is started.

5.2.2 Auto Inspection Stop Procedure

Step1: Check that no PCBs remain inside of BF-X3 and X3-Booster.

The inspection of the last PCB may not be completed.

Step2: Click Stop button on the BF2 inspection software.

5.2.3 Error Occurrence and Recovery Procedure

If a transport error occurs, BF-X3 moves to STOP mode and the auto inspection is interrupted.
At this time, there may be some discrepancies in barcode management.
If an error occurs, remove all PCBs in the BF-X3 and X3-Booster and resume production.

Step1: Follow the error message and correct the cause of the error.

Step2: Remove all PCBs in the BF-X3 and X3-Booster.

Step3: Follow the 5.2.1 Auto Inspection Start Procedure and resume production.

1 Troubleshooting
This chapter describes actions need to be taken if the machine fails to operate properly or messages/
warnings are displayed on the software window.

1.1 Error/Warning Message

This section describes error/warning messages and recovery methods.
Error and warning messages are displayed if the software cannot make judgements and human intervention
is required when selecting the inspection data or starting/quitting the inspection software.
In the table below, the contents of error, warning messages, and the action needs to be taken are listed.
Before checking and executing these items, the following two points must be observed.

• No PCBs remain inside of BF-X3 and X3-Booster.

• The all doors and external covers are closed.

No. Error/Warning Message Description and Recovery Method

Maintenance door of X3-Booster is not locked.
If the maintenance door of X3-Booster can not lock or open, the

message will be displayed. Close the maintenance door and
restart.
The shutter pinch damage prevention function is activated at the
20 C1C2Crash guard detection previous or next of the X3-Booster.
Remove the pinched objects and restart.
Even if BF-X3's conveyor and X3-Booster's conveyor operated for
more than specified time, BF-X3 could not move to the next
317 Timeout of Conveyer move motion.
This error occurs when stuck due to the PCB or objects.
Remove the cause and restart.
The entrance shutter does not completed within the specified time.
320 Timeout of Entrance shutter move This error occurs when air pressure is low or damage of shutter.
Check the aire pressure or shutter.
The exit shutter does not completed within the specified time.
321 Timeout of Exit shutter move This error occurs when air pressure is low or damage of shutter.
Check the aire pressure or shutter.
Communication with the PC has been interrupted for at least the
specified time.
347 Timeout of PC Heart Beat. This error occurs when PC is hunged up.
Restart the BF2 inspection software.
When this error occurs, X-Ray is forcibly turned OFF for safety.
