Topic: Big Book: Mrs. Wishy –Washy’s Farm “ Week 2” Duration: 45 min.

Objectives
- To listen and respond to a story.
Personal Objectives

By the end of the class students will be able to;


- Recites rhyme lines & responds to it through movements.
- Identifies a text pattern.
- Designs a poster using given information
- Draws conclusion.

The Teacher starts the class with a cheerful smile greeting


Students saying “Good Morning”. Teacher invites the Students
to join her on the carpet to sing the morning song “Hello”.
They will stand in a rectangular shape singing all together,
waving with their hand and pointing to the feelings cards on the
“Focus Chart” and acting out; good – great – wonderful –
tiered – hungry – not good / sick.

Presentation / Pre : “ Little Bo Peep Rhythm” 3min Flash Cards i.e. pig, sheep, T- Ss
duck, horse, pig.

The Teacher asks the Students “What are some farm animals
you know about?” [Students answers vary ]
The Teacher will put the Big Book of Rhymes and the animals
flash cards on the carpet, she encourages the shy Students and
the below level students to participate in the discussion.
The Teacher tells Students that they are going to learn a rhyme
about a girl who tends sheep on a farm, her name is “Little Bo
Peep” Teacher encourages Students to sing the rhyme and to
stand up to create movements while singing. [All movements
are acceptable i.e.; wiggling hands, moving around, moving
shoulders…, etc.

Read A Loud Big Book Story “Mrs.Wish –Washy’s Farm” Big Book Story
Teacher Starts to say riddles about the key vocabulary ,i.e.
“When you are so sad , you make a sound like crying its
called ….”, “ A place where animals can sleep at night , its
big and red , you can see on a farm , it’s called …..,”,
“It is big , gives us milk & cheese , and not a pet , what is
it?”,…etc. then the Teacher will stick the flash cards on the
Focus Wall.

[Activity 1: Oral Activity – Q&A]


Teacher will use opening questions to review the Big Book T-Ss
Story “Mrs. Wishy Washy’s Farm”
She asks volunteers to come and track the print while reading

the title of the story and story lines.
Teacher opens a discussion and guides the Students through
questions while paging the story reminding the Students that
illustrations can give clues to help the readers to understand
things the author didn’t write in words. Teacher asks Students
to look for these clues while reading aloud the story to answer
the following questions:
i.e.
- How is the city different from a farm? [ infer from
illustrations]
- Where can the animals live in the city? [ answers
vary]
- How the animals feel in the city? [ infer from
illustrations]
- Where the animals happy in the jail? [ infer from
illustrations]

- Where the animals happy to return to the farm?

Teacher encourages Students while reading aloud the story to


join in on the rhyming lines and imitating the animals sounds so
they can identify the musical elements of the language like the
repeated phrase “Wishy – Washy wash , wash,wash / scrub,
scrub, scrub”

[Activity 2: Group Activity]
Highlighters
Teacher will divide the class into 3 groups [4 Studnts each], Pencils
distributing library book /small book – for the same story - on 1 min Timer on the pane
each table, highlighter, white chart, pencils. Distrib
Teacher asks each group to; -uting S-Ss
- Highlight & read the rhyming lines in group of
pages.
- Write the words on the chart.
Allocates the :
Group leader, the chart writer, time watcher, the presenter
& the no. of pages for each group i.e. G.1 P.1-5 , 8 min
G.2: p.6 – 10, G.3: P.10-15. Then the “Presenter Student
presents in front of his/her classmates.

Reflection

The students enjoyed the class , by the end of the class the learners were able to create new
movements for the rhyme , They were very enthusiastic for the drama. They succeeded in
recognizing and repeating the rhyming lines fluently with flow.

What went well?

The class was interactive the students enjoyed the movement while singing the song as well as the
drama time. They are very excited for the “Show &Tell” activity next Reading class.

What went wrong?

Decrease the Teacher talk time and use songs during the transition time from activity to another
activity to enhance the language fluency.

What I should add?

Integrate technology more interactive games on the panel. Next class I will integrate the story with
the science class, unit 6 “Farm animals & products” .
