characteristic trees are the date palm, the juniper and the Aleppo pine. Oak and cork oak

human exploitation.

Its fauna includes species such as wild mouflon, deer, wild boar and Barbary macaques. In
addition, every year numerous species of migratory birds cross the country, among which
storks and flamingos stand out.

Iris is a genus of rhizomatous plants in the Iridaceae family. Its name comes from the Greek
word for rainbow, which is also the name of the Greek goddess of the rainbow.

Interesting facts: Only 12% of the Algerian territory is inhabited, since more than 90% of
Algeria is covered by the Sahara desert.

It is the largest country on the African continent and the tenth largest in the world.
