screws shall be fixed with neoprene or metal washers.

The metal roof tiles may have the following surface treatment: natural aluminum, natural
steel, pre-painted and post-painted.

The metal roof tiles may be specified with the following materials:

 Natural Aluminum:
- Plates in corrugated or trapezoidal profile, manufactured in structural
aluminum alloys;
- Characteristics:
 Lighter than other roof tiles;
 Durable material;
 High resistance to atmospheric corrosion;
 The reflectivity of aluminum roof tiles reduces the temperature of
the facilities and thermal conductivity.
 Galvanized steel:
- Plates in corrugated or trapezoidal profile manufactured in hot dip
galvanization process and coated with zinc or zinc-aluminum alloy
which gives the steel an excellent corrosion resistance.
- Characteristics:
 Good durability;
 Good cost/benefit ratio;

Notes:

1 - Preferably use galvanized steel roof tiles, pre-painted, with a trapezoidal profile, thickness
of 0.65 mm (reference Perfilor model LR40) with recommended slope of 10% or as specified
in the project of each building, complying with the guidelines of the supplier;

2 - If using another option, the design company shall justify the choice of a type of metal roof
tile that better meets the needs of each specific design.

8.1.1 Thermal and Acoustic Metal Roof Tiles

The thermal and acoustic metal roof tiles may have the following types and insulating
materials:

 Roof tiles with expanded polystyrene coating fixed in the interior surface of
the roof tile;
 Roof tile sandwich panel used as core one of the following listed materials:
- Polyurethane;
- Glass wool;
- Stone wool;
- Styrofoam.

In order to determine the thickness of the metal roof tiles, the design company shall verify
together with NBR 6123 the wind speed of the region corresponding to the specific project.

To determine the roof tile dimensions, slopes, allowable loads, average weight and allowable
spans, the design company shall comply with technical specifications of consulted suppliers.

8.2 FIBER CEMENT ROOF TILES

The fiber cement roof tiles shall be used in roofing and wall cladding of buildings through the
composition of the appropriate elements, as specified in the design.

They shall be manufactured with synthetic fiber reinforced concrete technology without
asbestos.

If a different option is used, the design company to specify the type of fiber cement roof tile
that better meets the needs of each specific design

In places subject to strong winds, it is recommended that the proposed solutions to determine
clearances, awnings and fastenings meet the standard NBR 6123.
