coloured pens/pencils ready. Read out
the instructions, asking your child to
listen and carry them out exactly.

How does this help my children’s learning?

This activity is a great way to encourage

your child to practise their active listening
skills. It allows them to focus on what
you are saying and practise carrying out
instructions accurately.

Ideas for further learning:

Kim’s Game is a great way to encourage

concentration. Place a number of random
objects on a tray and give your child time
to look at them. Cover them up then see
how many your child can remember.

Read the following instructions out loud to your child. Say the instruction then
repeat it. Do not repeat for a third time. Give your child time to carry out the
instruction, then go on to the next one. All instructions containing directions to
the left or right are as your child is looking at the picture. At the end, see if your
child’s picture matches the one on the answer sheet. Remember not to let your
child see the instructions.

Instructions:

1 Draw five eyelashes on the robot’s left eye.

2 Draw an eyebrow above the robot’s right eye.

3 Draw three buttons down the middle of the square on the robot’s body. Colour them in red.

4 Colour the left foot green and the right foot blue.

5 Draw a hooped earring in the robot’s right ear.

6 Colour both legs in purple.

7 Colour the robot’s antenna in yellow and the disc at the top in orange.

Draw a medal made of ribbon and a round disc around the robot’s neck so that the
8 disc sits on top of the square on the robot’s body. Colour the ribbon in red and the disc
in yellow.

10 Draw orange stripy patterns on both of the robot’s arms.

11 Colour the right eye blue and the left eye green.
