Instructions: with smaller circular needle,

cast on 60 sts. Join for working in rnds and
place beg of rnd marker.
Work in rib pat for 1½” [4cm].
Change to larger needles, work in main pat and
inc [M1r] 6 sts evenly on irst rnd – 66 sts.
Cont in main pat until hat measures approx. 7”
[18cm] from cast-on, ending with a pat rnd 4.
Next [dec] rnd [pat rnd 1]: * k8, S2KP,
repeat from * around – 54 sts.
Change to dpns and work rnds 2-4 of main pat.
Next [dec] rnd [pat rnd 1]: * k6, S2KP,
repeat from * around – 42 sts.
Work rnds 2-4 of main pat.
Next [dec] rnd [pat rnd 1]: * k4, S2KP,
repeat from * around – 30 sts.
Work rnd 2 of main pat.
Next [dec] rnd [pat rnd 3]: * k2, S2KP,
repeat from * around – 18 sts.
Work rnd 4 of main pat.
Next [dec] rnd [pat rnd 1]: S2KP around – 6 sts.

Rib Pattern: * k1 tbl, p1, repeat from * around.

Main Pattern: worked in rnds over a multiple

of 2 sts.
Rnd 1: knit all sts.
Rnd 2: * sl 1 st knitwise with yarn in front [sl 1
kwise wyif], p1, repeat from * around.
Rnd 3: knit all sts.
Rnd 4: * p1, sl 1 kwise wyif, repeat from *
around. Repeat rnds 1-4 throughout.

S2KP: sl 2 sts kwise, k1, pass 2 slipped sts

over knitted st.

Gauge: 12 sts and 26 rnds = 4” [10 cm] in main

pat on larger needles.
