Government should make laws about people’s nutrition and foods choices.

Others
argue that it is their choice. Discuss both views and give your opinion.
While one school of thought believes that the authorities should enforce the laws related
to people’s nutrition and food choices, others think that individuals have the right to
decide what they want to eat. This essay will scrutinize both views before concluding that
I agree with the latter.
On the other hand, the introduction of laws pertaining to nutrition and food choices for
citizens is an effective way to help governments monitor the health quality of society. The
consumption of junk food adversely affects the obesity rate in people, especially in
metropolis where people are always too busy to eat healthy foods or maintain balanced
diets with regular exercise. With hectic schedules, workers tend to consume packaged
food or fast food for their meals instead of eating vegetables or other healthy products. If
the authorities impose laws on people’s diet, it will be a great contribution to preventing
and controlling the rate of obese people and bad results of unhealthy eating habits to
increase the health quality of communities.
On the other hand, I agree with those who say that people are free to choose what they
want to eat. Although the law of people’s nutrition and food choices provides some
benefits to health for communities, it is an unfeasible way to apply in all countries.
Because the cost to develop and enforce this law is a large amount of money that
developing countries or poverty nations cannot impose, it also requires many other
resources including human resources, and technology. In addition, the masses had the
freedom rights to decide what they wanted to do as long as not breaking the law or
causing harm to others. Therefore, if the choice of food is not jeopardized, it would be
unjustifiable for the authorities to interfere with it.
In conclusion, I agree that people should be free to decide what they want to eat as long
as they do not cause harm or break the law.
