Alexia Putellas- Queen of women football

Early days

Born on February 4, 1994, in the Catalonia region of Spain, Alexia Putellas showed an early affinity
for the sport that would define her life. Growing up in a football-loving family, she embraced the game

influential figures in women's football started on the dusty pitches of her hometown.

„Chica de oro“

Barcelona first women Balon D'or was won by Alexia. It was for her 2020/2021 in which she won
everything. With 11 goals Alexia was the best scorer, beating talented Wolfsburg forward Tabea
Wassmuth. Barcelona femeni conquered domestic competitions as well as Europe in that season with
total of 99 points in La Liga. In Champions league final they humiliated Chelsea with 4 goals
conceding none. Alexia scored from penalty spot. Season 2021/2022 also ended with Balon D'or in
Alexia hands. It was for her incredible contribution in La Liga and Champions League despite losing
in final. Putellas ended the season with 31 goal in 45 games.

Injury and World cup

Unfortunately alexia ruptured her ACL in her left knee on July 12, 2022. That meant she would miss
2022 Euro. But she never gave up. In april 2023 she came back. Won Champions League with
Barcelona as well as World championship. Her Barcelona teammate Aitana Bonmati was shining that
season and took al lot of pressure of Alexia shoulders. At World cup she scored only one goal but her
experience was crucial for Spanish team spirit.
