Project Scope Statement

Project:

Wilmont’s Pharmacy Drone

Purpose:

The project aims to develop a prototype drone showcasing available technology as a viable means
to deliver pharmaceutical prescriptions and drugstore items directly to customers' homes. Wilmont’s
has opted to collaborate with DroneTech to establish a business solution involving four local
pharmacies. The project is scheduled to commence on January 5, 2023, with the objective of
achieving the first customer delivery flight by November 30, 2023.

Project Goals:

DroneTech is tasked with designing and constructing four new drones for the prototype project,
customized with Wilmont’s corporate colors and logo. Limited to four of Wilmont’s pharmacies in
close geographic proximity to each other, situated in a non-city environment primarily consisting of
suburban homes and small businesses, the prototype delivery system will exclude customers in
apartment buildings due to potential delivery challenges. The project is anticipated to be completed
within a year, adhering to a budget of $1.75 million.

Project Scope Description:

The project involves designing and constructing four drones according to the specifications set by
Wilmont Pharmacy. The drones are required to have a temperature-controlled bagging system, a
bubble-type cushioning system, and be painted in Wilmont’s corporate colors and logo.
Additionally, DroneTech will provide pilots for the drones, customize the system to comply with
Wilmont’s requirements, interface with Wilmont’s enhanced online order entry process, and enable
customer access through online entry or smartphone. The system will also facilitate electronic
communication about deliveries (e-mail, online, mobile alerts).

Administration:

The DroneTech team is responsible for administering the project, developing detailed plans and
schedules, and maintaining accurate records of all expenditures. At the project's conclusion, a full
accounting of actual expenditures, along with evidence of fulfilling all obligations, will be provided.

Project Management:

With a maximum budget of $1,750,000, the project is set to begin on January 5, aiming for the first
customer delivery flight no later than November 30. Tasks will be planned and distributed among
the project team, and regular meetings will be held with the team and stakeholders. Various
communication methods will be used based on individual preferences, with all decisions and final
approvals subject to the Project Manager.

Assumptions:

DroneTech will handle drone maintenance, spare parts, system updates, and any drone damage.
Constraints:
The project's start and first customer delivery must occur between January 5 and November 30 to
avoid harsh weather in the San Francisco area.
Apartment building residents are ineligible for the drone service due to delivery issues.
Budget cannot exceed $1,750,000.
Security and privacy must be maintained for Wilmont’s and customer information.
Key Results: The project aims to deliver four new flying drones for selected pharmacy stores,
painted in Wilmont’s colors and logo, along with a customized delivery system and business
process meeting Wilmont’s requirements. Each pharmacy store will have four pilots for drone
deliveries.

Deliverables:

Four drones painted with Wilmont’s colors and logo, equipped with a temperature-controlled
bagging system.
Online order entry process interfaced with Wilmont’s enhanced system.
Monthly reports presenting the project status.
Manual Delivery Information for pharmacy stores.
