PHARMACOLOGICAL TREATMENT
Pharmacological treatment is one of the options used to treat depression.
Antidepressant medications are designed to influence neurotransmitters in the brain,
such as serotonin, norepinephrine and dopamine, which are involved in mood
regulation.
It is important to note that antidepressants do not work the same way for everyone,
and it can sometimes take time to find the right medication and the right dosage. In
addition, drug treatment is often combined with psychological therapy, such as
cognitive behavioral therapy, to address depression in a comprehensive manner.
It is always essential to speak with a healthcare professional, such as a psychiatrist
or physician, before starting or changing any drug treatment. In addition, it is
essential to follow the health care professional's directions and maintain open
communication about any side effects or changes in symptoms. (Esparza & Pérez,
2017)
COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a form of psychotherapy that has been shown
to be effective in the treatment of depression. This therapy is based on the premise
that thoughts, feelings and behaviors are interrelated, and that changing negative
and dysfunctional thought patterns can have a positive impact on mood and
behavior.
Cognitive-behavioral therapy is often conducted in structured sessions and is
generally short-term compared to other forms of psychotherapy. It can be conducted
individually or in a group setting, depending on the needs of the individual.
Importantly, CBT is often combined with other forms of treatment, such as
pharmacological therapy, to address depression in a comprehensive manner. A
mental health professional, such as a psychologist or cognitive-behavioral therapist,
can tailor therapy to the specific needs of each individual. (Ellis, 2002)
CONCLUSION
In conclusion, we can say that the patient has depression that deserves to be treated
urgently by a mental health professional, because as seen in her anamnesis and
interview, it can be seen that there are several factors in her environment that have
affected her mental health. In addition, if not treated in time, it could cause terrible
results in the person being evaluated and her family.
