RESTORED LIFE

Introduction - Welcoming the Restoration of Father

God has a great plan for your life
To reveal how much He loves us and has good in mind for us, Father created humanity and placed
him - not in a dump, not in a mud pit, but in a beautiful Garden. Eden was a type of heaven on earth,
essentially a replica of heaven.

The genesis of man in Eden made this the model for all mankind. Subconsciously we all long for a life
that returns to that model. Therefore, every human appreciates excellence, beauty, order,
abundance, honor and the good things that were common in Eden. It’s not evil within you that
yearns for a life like heaven, it’s the yearning of your roots that Father placed within you.

Genesis 1:27-28 God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and
female He created them. God blessed them; and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the
earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living
thing that moves on the earth.”

Genesis 2:7-15 Then the LORD God formed man of dust from the ground, and breathed into his nostrils
the breath of life; and man became a living being. The LORD God planted a garden toward the east, in
Eden; and there He placed the man whom He had formed. Out of the ground the LORD God caused to
grow every tree that is pleasing to the sight and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the
garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Now a river flowed out of Eden to water the
garden; and from there it divided and
became four rivers. The name of the first
is Pishon; it flows around the whole land
of Havilah, where there is gold. The gold
of that land is good; the bdellium and the
onyx stone are there. The name of the
second river is Gihon; it flows around the
whole land of Cush.
The name of the third river is Tigris; it
flows east of Assyria. And the fourth river
is the Euphrates. Then the LORD God took
the man and put him into the garden of
Eden to cultivate it and keep it.

In the beginning Father gave mankind a foundation for a fruitful life

First Adam was created righteous with cornerstones that made him superior to all of creation. He
was undefeatable. He was unstoppable. He was a superior being.

Position: Live as sons and daughters of God in fellowship with His glory and divine nature.

Power: Live with authority. Exercise dominion, under God’s authority, over the earth realm
and the spirit realm.

Purpose: Fulfill your calling with blessing upon who God made you and called you to be in your
generation.

Partnership: Co-labor with one another in community, tending the garden and extending the
blessing of Eden over the whole earth.

God put within you the desire for something significant

You were in Adam when he was created, and he was created in the image of God. Imagine being
created in the image and the likeness of the divine.

Who put greatness within you? Who makes you discontent with mediocrity? Who allows you to feel
shame when you are sabotaged by darkness? Who wove within you gifts that yearn for expression?
This is all from your Father.

Father within you is calling you into greatness. He put you in your generation for some great impact.
You are not here by accident or here to live in mediocrity and sabotaged by trouble.
God has a good destiny in mind for you. God has a good plan in mind for you.

Acts 17:26-27 …and He made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth,
having determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their habitation, that they would seek
God, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us…

Just as God spoke through Jeremiah over the nation of Israel while they were in sin and when they
were not worthy, so He says this over you and me.

Jeremiah 29:11 ‘ For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans for welfare and not
for calamity to give you a future and a hope.’

Page |2
God placed in you ambition and creativity, and He wrote a good story about you in your generation.
It’s in a book with your name on it.

Psalm 139:16-18 Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; And in Your book were all written
The days that were ordained for me, when as yet there was not one of them. How precious also are
Your thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I should count them, they
would outnumber the sand. When I awake, I am still with You.

The story Father wrote about you is a story of blessing and fulfillment. It’s a story He wrote about
you before the fall of Adam. He saw you in this generation redeemed from trouble, from sin, from
addiction, from sickness and poverty. Therefore, the story about you in His book is a story of
blessing, fulfillment and success.

You can reach into the realm of salvation, the realm of Jesus, the redeemer, and receive the power of
transformation. He has already prepared answers and solutions for your life. Prophecy is what Jesus
is speaking over you as if you were already redeemed and restored.

Jesus the redeemer, Jesus the perfect man, Jesus your perfect representative has qualified you to
receive all that Father had in mind when He wrote your book. When a prophetic word is given to you
or you see something prophetically, it’s the testimony of goodness coming out of what Father has
prepared for you through the redemption of Jesus.

Revelation 19:10 “…the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”

It’s the same when you are hearing from the Lord in your heart. When you hear from the Lord in
your heart, you are hearing the good testimony He has over you from Father.

Romans 10:17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.

He chose you in this generation for greatness and great living. You are important to Father and His
calling for your life is vital. He celebrates your giftings and talents. Even the earth rejoices when you
find fulfillment and life through Jesus.

Romans 8:19 For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God.

Imagine your life without sickness, addiction, fear, worry, bondage, jealousy, pride or rebellion.

Imagine who you would have been in the garden of Eden. This is the you Father wants to restore.

This is the real you.

Page |3
Sin and iniquity sabotage God’s plan for your life

Satan also has a plan for your life, but

it’s a miserable plan. He wants your
earthly life to be a life of unfulfilled toil,
separated from peace, joy and
fulfillment – ending in separation from
God and joining him, Satan, in eternal
damnation.

John 10:10 The thief (Satan) comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life,
and have it abundantly.

Know it or not, Satan has had a great influence on your life through the fall of Adam. Not that you
wanted it, not that you planned it, not that you deserved it, not that you earned it. We were all given
over in treason (by Adam and Eve) to be under the influence of Satan’s lifestyle, separated from God
and familiar with sin.

When Adam fell from God in the Garden, you and I were in his seed. Thus, just as we were born in
the lineage of Adam, so also his sinful nature spread to all his children. We inherited a flawed nature
that was the seedbed to Satan’s influence.

Ephesians 2:1-3 And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, in which you formerly walked according
to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now
working in the sons of disobedience. Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our
flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as
the rest.

This fallen nature we inherited from fallen Adam is compared to a foundation of sand.

Matthew 7:26-27 “Everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them, will be like a
foolish man who built his house on the sand. The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and
slammed against that house; and it fell—and great was its fall.”

Page |4
Unknowingly we are trying to build a good life on a flawed foundation

We want to build a great life. To some extent we know what a good life looks like and that’s what we
want, but we’re trying to build on a sand filled foundation. We’re trying to build a great life with
flawed material and flawed methods.

Colossians 3:5-11 Therefore consider the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality,
impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry. For it is because of these things
that the wrath of God will come upon the sons of disobedience, and in them you also once walked,
when you were living in them. But now you also, put them all aside: anger, wrath, malice,
slander, and abusive speech from your
mouth. Do not lie to one another, since
you laid aside the old self with
its evil practices, and have put on the
new self who is being renewed to a true
knowledge according to the image of the
One who created him— a renewal in
which there is no distinction
between Greek and Jew, circumcised and
uncircumcised, barbarian,
Scythian, slave and freeman, but Christ is
all, and in all.

A flawed foundation won’t handle the weight of our destiny

The methods and materials of an unclean lifestyle will eventually result in sickness, poverty, fear,
condemnation, inferiority and shame.

James 3:15-16 This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, natural, demonic.
For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing.

Page |5
The peril of many Christians

Though forgiven, though attending church, what we’ve been describing is the peril of many
Christians. Maybe you can relate. You’ve come to Jesus, but your foundation is not fully repaired.
You long for something great, but you’ve been sabotaged by the troubles of life.

We’re here to tell you there is hope.

No matter what you’ve experienced.
No matter how many times you’ve fallen.
No matter what has been stolen from you, Father will restore you.
Father hasn’t changed His mind about the great life you are called to.
Father wants to heal your heart and give you a good foundation in Jesus.
Maybe you’ve given up hope in full restoration.
Maybe you’ve come to believe that struggle, failure and trouble is a normal part of the Christian
working out their salvation.
We are here to tell you there’s an amazing life for you. A life Restored.

Page |6
STEP
OPENLY ADMIT
1 YOUR PROBLEMS
STEP ONE: Openly Admit Your Problems

A. Christians are not exempt from destructive habits and addictions

If you have a habit or struggle in your life, you’re not alone. Churches everywhere are full of people
who struggle with harmful habits, addictions, personality disorders, sin, oppression and bondages.

Though we are all in the process of being perfected by the ministry of the Holy Spirit, we all have
struggles within that sabotage us. These encompass the following:

1. Mental dysfunctions:

Misbeliefs, deceptions, distrust, negative thinking, escape thinking, lack of love, thoughts of
judgment, pride, rejection, inferiority, revenge, failure and self-hatred.

2. Emotional dysfunctions:

Fear, bitterness, hatred, self-hatred, depression, anger, rage, panic, anxiety and apathy.

3. Behavioral dysfunctions:

Gluttony, lying, isolation, suicide, incest, child abuse, adultery, sexual immorality, hoarding, laziness,
smoking, drunkenness and profanity…

Page |7
These dysfunctions can range from moderate influences within us to a level that is totally debilitating.
If a dysfunction is present and has influence it might be that it is due to an addiction or bondage.
These sound like big words, so we’ll try next to explain what we mean.

B. What is an addiction, compulsion or bondage?

1. Thoughts, emotions and behaviors that are common, controlling, compulsive and ingrained in
your sinful nature.

2 Timothy 2:24-26 The Lord’s bond-servant must not be quarrelsome, but be kind to all, able to teach,
patient when wronged, with gentleness correcting those who are in opposition, if perhaps God may grant
them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth, and they may come to their senses and
escape from the snare of the devil, having been held captive by him to do his will.

2. Thoughts, emotions and behaviors that “spring up” at a time of pressure or vulnerability.

Hebrews 12:15 See to it that no one comes short of the grace of God; that no root of bitterness
springing up causes trouble, and by it many be defiled…

C. Admitting a specific addiction or bondage is the first step toward transformation

The Bible declares that through Christ you can be transformed. Transformation means “to take on
another form.”

Romans 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind,
so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

You can’t renew what you haven’t identified and exposed. Think of a computer. Renewing your mind
starts with identifying the things that need changed.

Ephesians 5:11 Do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead even expose them…

There are keys to bring victory in your life and each key is important. Whatever we hide in the dark
grows. Most of us think our victory is totally dependent upon our relationship with God, but
scripture tells us a different story.

Page |8
Ephesians 5:21 “…and be subject to one another in the fear of Christ.”

Proverbs 27:17 “Iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.”

Proverbs 18:1 “He who separates himself seeks his own desire, he quarrels against all sound wisdom.”

James 5:16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be
healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.

This is the first major key to victory, admit and confess your struggles to people, not just to God.

God has chosen to use us, one to another, for inner healing and transformation.

D. What happens when we admit our sins and problems?

1. You will find forgiveness from God

Psalm 32:5 I acknowledged my sin to You, And my iniquity I did not hide; I said, "I will confess my
transgressions to the LORD"; And you forgave the guilt of my sin. Selah.

2. You will find mercy from people

Proverbs 28:13 He who conceals his transgressions will not prosper, But he who confesses and forsakes
them will find compassion.

E. Twelve new steps to freedom and a blessed life

The harmful habits, addictions, fears and oppression of the soul and body will rob your victory and
keep you out of God’s best. They are interwoven with self-doubt, condemnation and inferiority, yet
you were created for victory. Your new nature is a nature of victory and dominion that brings forth
restoration.

Page |9
F. The Goal of Restored Life

1. Teach and train each student how to identify and remove the roots of addiction, wrong thinking,
and dysfunction (not just mow the weeds).

2. Teach each student how to plant positive seeds in preparation for good fruit in the future.

3. Release each student into a life of freedom, transparency, testimony, and service to the grace of
God.

4. Enlist every believer into the ministry of restoration.

Restored Life homework:

Name and write down the thoughts, fears and behaviors you are sick and tired of, things that are
robbing you, things that are oppressing you, and things you are willing to change.

STEP
THOROUGHLY ASSESS
2 ALL ROOTS
STEP TWO – Part One: Thoroughly Assess All Roots

A. We are the product of Seeds

Before we discuss the root of our issues, we must learn about the power of seeds. Seeds are the
genesis of all root issues in life, good and bad. A seed is not only the beginning of a thing, but it is
also what causes more of that thing to grow.

1. Seeds have a specific DNA

Genesis 1:11-12 Then God said, "Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees on
the earth bearing fruit after their kind with seed in them"; and it was so. The earth brought forth
vegetation, plants yielding seed after their kind, and trees bearing fruit with seed in them, after their
kind; and God saw that it was good.

2. Seeds are responsible for all things that reproduce

Genesis 8:22 "While the earth remains, Seedtime and harvest, And cold and heat, And summer and
winter, And day and night Shall not cease."

3. Seeds always produce after their own kind

Galatians 6:7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap.

P a g e | 11
Physical seeds are responsible for your physical traits.
Your physical body bears the image of the DNA of your parents and their parents. There is no other
option for what you are physically.

Spiritual seeds are also responsible for your spiritual traits.

Just as physical seeds reproduce after their kind, we can conclude that it’s true also for the spiritual.

Jesus could not be born of the seed of man, not because of the physical traits that would be passed to
him, but the sinful traits that would be passed to him. He could not be born with the sinful nature.
He had to be a new Adam. A second Adam with no witness of sin with him… no influence of Satan
within.

1 Corinthians 15:21-22 For since by a man came death, by a man also came the resurrection of the
dead. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive.

B. The soil of spiritual seed is the heart of man

1. The heart is made up of the SOUL and SPIRIT

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and
piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the
thoughts and intentions of the heart.

P a g e | 12
2. Your spirit is alienated from God until salvation

At salvation your spirit man is born again – made alive by the indwelling Holy Spirit. It’s not your soul
that is regenerated, but your spirit.

John 3:5-8 Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he
cannot enter into the kingdom of God.” That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of
the Spirit is spirit. "Do not be amazed that I said to you, 'You must be born again.' The wind blows where
it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is
everyone who is born of the Spirit."

3. The soul is a separate, but important part of the heart of man

There are several insightful things we know about the soul of man. Your soul is entirely different than
your spirit:
Your soul is your mind, will, emotions, reasoning and imagination.
Your soul is what makes up your personality and memory.
Your soul is your connection between the spirit realm and the natural realm.
Your soul is the counterpart of your brain.

4. Your soul is the center of the “trees of life”

The soul is best considered a garden or orchard made up of several life producing trees.

There are at least 10 of these life producing trees needed for abundant life. Each tree is made
healthy or made sickly through the influence of our lineage, our belief system and so much more.
Each tree is meant to bring forth good fruit. Jesus declared if a tree is good the fruit will be good.

Matthew 12:33 “Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for
the tree is known by its fruit.”

Notice, the tree is known by its fruit.

Fruit in life comes out of the health of the tree that supports the fruit. Each tree of life is meant to
bear good fruit but must be supported by a healthy root.

P a g e | 13
Trees of Life woven into the heart of man

1. Health and nutrition

2. Finance and Household
3. Vocation and purpose
4. Family relationships
5. Sexuality and sexual fulfillment
6. Wisdom and personal maturity
7. Religion and spiritual fulfillment
8. Ministry and serving others
9. Rest and recreation
10. Culture, influence, and legacy

C. Evil seeds start growing in your soul from conception

1. Evil seeds come from many sources

We won’t list these sources now, but these sources will be the focus of our study as we move on
through the notebook.

2. These seeds pervert and distort our “trees” of life

Most of us don’t know the “real us” because these seeds of darkness have harmed the perfect
growth and fruit-bearing of our trees.

Even before they are full grown and bearing fruit, they are the voice of the demonic realm from
within the soul.

Matthew 7:17-18,20 “So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit.
A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit. So then, you will know
them by their fruits.”

3. At conversion many of these evil seeds are not removed

These seeds hinder your success as a new creation and are the reason for a war within and a double
mind referred to in James 1:7-8.

P a g e | 14
Luke 8:11-15 "Now the parable is this: the seed is the word of God. Those beside the road are those who
have heard; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their heart, so that they will not believe
and be saved. Those on the rocky soil are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and
these have no firm root; they believe for a while, and in time of temptation fall away. The seed which
fell among the thorns, these are the ones who have heard, and as they go on their way they are
choked with worries and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to maturity. But the seed in
the good soil, these are the ones who have heard the word in an honest and good heart, and hold it fast,
and bear fruit with perseverance.”

4. Evil seeds are a spiritual correlation with the demonic realm

James 3:14-18 But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant and
so lie against the truth. This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, natural,
demonic. For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing. But the
wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits,
unwavering, without hypocrisy. And the seed whose fruit is righteousness is sown in peace by those who
make peace.

5. Many seeds have already begun to produce fruit

By the time most of us come to the Lord many of these seeds have sprung up into the manifestation
of a habit or addictive pattern and are bearing evil fruit.

D. Perfecting the soul is the focus of the indwelling Holy Spirit

1. The new creation life develops progressively

Most of the focus in the New Testament, regarding the believer, is on the soul. It’s the soul realm
that needs sanctification and renewal.

As you identify unclean seeds, remove them and replace them with life giving seeds, so each tree of
life will produce good fruit.

P a g e | 15
1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit
and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful
is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass.

James 1:21 Therefore, putting aside all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive
the word implanted, which is able to save your souls.

2. Renewing the soul brings prosperity in every realm and health to the body

3 John 1:2 Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul
prospers.

3. Renewing the soul releases the spirit for living a supernatural life

Romans 8:6 For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace…

Galatians 5:16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh.

P a g e | 16
STEP TWO- Part Two: Thoroughly Assess All Roots

Discovering the sources of roots and unclean fruit

Our focus will now turn to discover, examine, and understand the seeds that have been planted in
your soul. We will seek to discover how your soul has been deceived, wounded, harmed and
oppressed. Our goal is to discover what seeds have been planted in our soul, seeds that have
resulted in root systems and unprofitable fruit. Our thesis is that the problems and dysfunctions of
life have a root cause. A seed most usually comes through an open door to the soul. The door
allowed a seed to be planted. Going forward we will refer to your soul as your heart garden and we
will continue to use the understanding we’ve gained of the trees of life. We believe that there are at
least 12 doors of access into your heart garden through which Satan seeks to deposit seed into the
soul. These might be considered as the ways that seeds were planted in your soul.

Door One - INIQUITY OF YOUR PARENTS AND FAMILY LINEAGE

a. Your family lineage makes up your initial spiritual inheritance

You are the fruit of their seed. Just as through physical inheritance, you might be susceptible to a
disease, so also to certain sins and weaknesses. These sins and weaknesses are known as iniquity.

P a g e | 17
Iniquity appears 287 times in the Bible with six different Hebrew words. It means lawlessness,
perversity, depravity, to bend, to twist, to distort and to form.

As it pertains to humanity, it means our nature has an influence of darkness set out to pervert and
destroy it as well as others. It means, in Adam, we have a weakness toward a certain temptation and
sin, much like an allergy.

Now that we understand seeds, we can understand why the Bible teaches that the influences of
iniquity (pathways, habits, bents, weakness, propensities) are passed down to the children in a family
through the parents. We also know, according to scripture this influence can reach back to the fourth
generation.

b. Iniquity passed down through the generations is passed down as a seed

You aren’t born with bondages or addictions, but you are born with the potential and propensity to
develop certain ones based on the seeds passed to you in your spiritual lineage. The seed is
equivalent to a demonic influence in your soul, and it is your version of the carnal nature.

This means you will feel certain temptations differently than others. Therefore, a specific negative
reaction will be “normal” if a pressure or temptation comes. And that “normal” reaction may be very
different than someone else’s.

These seeds of weakness and vulnerability also serve as a target for the demonic realm.

If these seeds are allowed to give birth, a bondage will be the result. The work of the demonic realm
is to tempt us while we are under the pressure to produce fruit in the “trees of life.” The work of the
demonic realm is to germinate, quicken, bring to life these seeds of iniquity. Once we partner with
these seeds, we’ve given birth to sin. Unrepentant sin leads to bondage.

c. Iniquity is a disease because we are born in sin and separated from God

Many have been espousing the idea that people possess certain dysfunctions and disorders because
they were born that way. Some have been looking for the missing gene for many disorders.

P a g e | 18
Genomes:
Many studies have been conducted on the subject of genetic influence. Some of the most interesting
studies involve inmates in the United States. Studies show that many US inmates who were raised
with adoptive parents go into a life of crime, many times identical to their parents. Studies
discovered that people can be predisposed toward certain behaviors. Since the study of genetics
emerged, some researchers and scientists have begun to call behavioral abnormalities a “disease”. In
doing so, they have implied that man does not have free choice, that his genes foster certain
behaviors that he has no power to resist.

See: https://abcnews.go.com/US/story?id=91283&page=1 and

See: https://www.theatlantic.com/family/archive/2018/10/crime-runs-family/573394/
See: https://www.inquirer.com/crime/inq/generations-philadelphia-families-are-incarcerated-
together-20180125.html

While it’s true we might have been born with certain disorders, it’s not due to a physical gene, but a
spiritual gene. Sin is passed in the genes.

2 Timothy 2:24-26 The Lord's bond-servant must not be quarrelsome, but be kind to all, able to teach,
patient when wronged, with gentleness correcting those who are in opposition, if perhaps God may grant
them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth, and they may come to their senses and escape
from the snare of the devil, having been held captive by him to do his will.

d. The common weaknesses of all mankind

Genesis 3:8-10 They heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and
the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden.
Then the LORD God called to the man, and said to him, “Where are you?” He said, “I heard the sound of
You in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid myself.”

Since the fall of first Adam, we all carry three common threads of iniquity. How it’s built from there
differs in each family line.

The power of all iniquity begins with fear, condemnation, and shame. These are present because our
foundation for life was broken down and destroyed when first Adam fell.

One as requested.

P a g e | 19
Door Two - DESTRUCTIVE PATTERNS OF INFLUENCE AND AUTHORITY

1 Corinthians 15:33 Do not

be deceived: “Bad company
corrupts good morals.”

a. Deception can come through trusted sources

Doors to the demonic can be opened through our submissive relationship with the unclean people
around us. This submissive relationship takes place more when we are young, under authority,
impressionable and needy of approval.

b. We face a spiritual danger when we want to fit in and find acceptance in people

Proverbs 29:25 The fear of man brings a snare, But he who trusts in the LORD will be exalted.

It is common to derive our approval and identity from parents, authority and popular culture. When
we were young and outside of Christ, we had no choice or other knowledge.

Unknowingly we sought to emulate and copy the carnality and uncleanness we saw in authority,
parents and culture.

c. Bondage through emulation

Emulation usually leads to veneration (placing trust and giving honor to someone or some behavior
or attribute of the soul).

This emulation might have opened a door to bondages and habits of the mind and behavior that still
bring harmful fruit into your life. Freedom from these harmful habits will come to you once you
identify the seeds of iniquity that you welcomed through emulation and veneration.

P a g e | 20
d. Redeemed and restored

Jesus has bought you back from darkness to restore the real you. You might not know who the real
you is. You might not like the current you, but chances are you don’t know the real you. Give Him
time and He will love you into restoration.

Door Three - HURTS, OFFENSES, LABELS AND ABUSES

“You'll never amount to anything.”

“You are nothing but a brat.”
“You need to go away.”
“You are worthless.”
“It’s your fault”
“You should not have been born”
“You were never wanted”

a. Acts of harm have a purpose

For the most part we are focusing on events that transpired before conversion because that’s when
you were the most vulnerable and you had no knowledge of how to process injuries. (Injuries after
conversion have relevance as well.)

Examples of injuries we experience: word curses, emotional abuse and emotional injury, profane
speech, false accusations, harmful accusations, tainted accusations, wrongful judgments,
inappropriate confrontation, condemnation, offenses, abandonment of those you trust, unfulfilled
promises, rejection, incest or sexual touch, explicit sexual information, exposure to lewdness,
impurity and sexual uncleanness. Unclean sexual accusation, sexual confusion and perversion,
divorce of parents, rejection by a parent, rejection of a sibling, being “given up” for adoption, physical
injury, and financial theft.

Most of these hurts take place against us during childhood when we are unable to defend ourselves
or discern the truth.

b. These sins against you released a power over you and against you

Woven within an injury is an assault out of the demonic realm. Injuries are meant to curse your trees
of life, limit you and set a negative course for your life.

These are often expressed in seed form (words). If not expressed openly by those who wound us, the
words of Satan will accompany an injury, to make the injury just as harmful.

Injuries are meant to make you a victim of the incident or situation.

P a g e | 22
Injuries are theft against your nature and dignity. Hurts reinforce the fear of man, fear of rejection
and fear of failure. They contradict God’s love and reinforce Satan’s message of inferiority and
worthlessness.

Injuries have the potential to bring forth defense, striving, pride, manipulation and rebellion to
succeed.

Injuries create a debt relationship with those who are used to hurt you, causing division, jealousy,
hatred and judgment.

Injuries deposit the seed of iniquity within you so as to make you reproduce. In the injury you were
forced to eat the seed of abuse, hatred, rejection, fear, etc.

Injuries open the door to fear, bitterness and depression fostering a door to addictive medication.

c. Many deep-seated hurts remain unresolved after salvation

● Unresolved because of your wrong responses to these hurts.

● Unresolved in that you have only attempted to forget them (stuff them).
● Unresolved because you have tried to compensate for them (prove them wrong) or have used the
wrong method to try to overcome them.
● Unresolved due to the spiritual power of the hurt that is still at work.
● Unresolved because you have, to a degree, believed the message hidden in the hurt.
● Unresolved because you wonder if the hurts reflect Father’s will or plan for you, and if so, can He
be trusted?

d. Redeeming your past

Your relational history can be restored and healed. Father God has sent the love of the Son to heal
your wounds and repair your brokenness. He will turn everything around for you. Run to Him and
allow Him to hold you and heal you.

Door Four - PERSONAL SINS, FAILURES AND BONDAGES

We tend to be limitless in our

creativity to sin. We aren’t limited to
the sins of our lineage; we can invent
new ways to get ourselves into
bondage. There are ways these
bondages develop. We’ll touch on a
couple of the ways here in door four.

a. Sinful behavior can be a reaction to experiencing abuse, neglect, rejection and injury

You may have reacted in a sinful way to a hurt, loss, disappointment or abuse.

Coping with hurts using natural methods is common and often not something we even recognize
before we were born again.

Coping with natural methods does not remove the bondage to the hurt, but only brings us down on
the level of the offender and opens us up to more problems.

Coping with hurts using natural methods will often promote additional bondages.

● Getting even.
● Withholding affection.
● Not forgiving and writing them off.
● Taking on anger or rage.
● Ignoring.
● Pouting and self-pity.
● Slander (telling others to gain their sympathy).
● Avoidance.
● Silence.
● Addictive medication; Over-eating, getting drunk, oversleeping, isolation, etc.

These and other behaviors are related to a root of bitterness. They need to be identified, repented of
and renounced.

P a g e | 24
b. The sins of your past created an opening to a demonic bondage

Unknowingly a person can be bound by the demonic realm through sinful behavior.

James 3:14-16 But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant
and so lie against the truth. This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but
is earthly, natural, demonic. For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil
thing.

Selfish ambition and bitter envy can result in disorder, confusion, and every evil thing. This
demonstrates, when you sin, you are partnering with demonic “wisdom”. Many believers are still
fighting to overcome their pre-conversion sins, not recognizing there was demonic power involved in
those sins that must be broken.

Potentially since coming to Christ, being born of the spirit, you have not confronted the spiritual
aspect of sins you once practiced. Perhaps some of these behaviors that were very common, still
torment you or trouble you, enticing you back into relapsing. You can overcome these, and you’ll
learn how as we go along.

Romans 6:16 Do you not know that when you present yourselves to someone as slaves for obedience,
you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin resulting in death, or of obedience resulting in
righteousness?

c. There is freedom from the influence of all past sins

You don’t have to live under the influence of your past. Freedom is here.

Door Five - INVOLVEMENT IN THE SPIRIT REALM OUTSIDE OF CHRIST

Deuteronomy 18:10-11 There shall

not be found among you anyone
who makes his son or his daughter
pass through the fire, one who uses
divination, one who practices
witchcraft, or one who interprets
omens, or a sorcerer, or one who
casts a spell, or a medium, or a
spiritist, or one who calls up the
dead.

a. Spiritual involvement can be an open door for oppression

● Witchcraft: sorcery, divination, necromancy, astral projection, the occult, Wicca, covens, false
signs – wonders – miracles.
● False Religions: Religions of Babylon, Buddhism, Hinduism, Church of Satan, Scientology, Islam,
Taoism, Baha’i, Indian or tribal worship systems, Unitarianism, Reincarnation, Free Masonry, etc.
● The veneration of music or unclean lyrical content regardless of the style; Rock, country, heavy
metal, rap and hip-hop.
● Occult based knowledge: Guided imagery, Palm reading, Horoscopes, Tarot cards, Ouija boards,
Sorcery, witchcraft, Voodoo, spirit guides, medicine man, false gifts of the spirit, black magic,
white magic…
● Any anti-Christ spirit influence, doctrines, or philosophies. 1 John 4
● Spiritual associations such as with Jezebel, Baal, Balaam. See Jude 1, see Revelation 3 (including
immoral behavior under a spiritual banner)
● Superstition, fatalism, eastern mysticism.
● Antichrist influences: “Against” and “another” Christ.
● Medicine: Acupuncture, hypnotism, witch doctor.
● Drug use that opens the mind and/or causes hallucination.
● Indian heritage and or involvement.
● Demonic dreams and contact with the dead.
● Anointings, symbols, signs, rings and mantles of those in demonic authority.
● Worship of nature. Romans 1:25
● Worship of stars, sun, moon and constellations. Deuteronomy 4:19
● Worship of angels. Revelation 19:10
● Assignments of witchcraft sent to harm.

P a g e | 26
Acts 19:18-20 Many also of those who had believed kept coming, confessing, and disclosing their
practices. And many of those who practiced magic brought their books together and began burning
them in the sight of everyone; and they counted the price of them and found it fifty thousand pieces of
silver. So, the word of the Lord was growing mightily and prevailing.

b. Family lineage can open a doorway for spiritual torment, visitation or oppression

Family members with involvement in Free Masonry, witchcraft or other unclean expressions can
open the door to bring harm to you. It’s important to know family history.

c. Involvement in the unclean invokes two principles of agreement

● Seeds are planted in the soul through the involvement.

● Covenants are made with the demonic realm.

Door Six - VOWS, PROMISES AND LIMITING STATEMENTS

“I'll never have a close friend again.”

“I cannot trust anyone.”
“I'll never succeed.”
“I cannot afford college.”
“I’ll never forgive myself.”
“I always worry about that.”
“I am a drunk.”
“I will always regret that decision.”
“I’ll never live that down.”
“I’m just like my parents.”
“I always get the bad end of the
deal.”

a. Negative statements release the power of the seed

Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit

Prior to conversion you made statements that agreed with a demonic agenda to limit, harm and
destroy your trees of life. These statements might have had an element of “humility” to them, but
now they are setting a limit on your life.

Some of these statements were spoken to fit in with culture.

Some of these statements were spoken out of failure, worthlessness, discouragement.

Most of these statements were made in your pre-conversion life and not renounced and overthrown
on the new side of the cross.

Some of these statements were spoken as a result or reaction of the hurt, abuse or injury of others.
You might have come into agreement with unclean thoughts or projected thoughts over your life.

b. Statements become covenants, either with God or with Satan

We become one with the one we agree with. Amos 3:2

P a g e | 28
c. Statements eventually manifest in a harvest

Words, statements, and confessions are likened to seeds. Therefore, the power of speech can be
very deceiving. At first when you plant a seed you don’t see fruit, but after a while it begins to grow
until it becomes mature (see Luke 8:11).

Mark 4:26 And He was saying, “The kingdom of God is like a man who casts seed upon the soil…”

d. Uprooting the seeds

Evil seeds can be plucked up and overthrown (Jeremiah 1:9). We will be working on uprooting the
negative seeds and the crop they’ve produced.

Door Seven - SEXUAL PARTNERS AND ONE-FLESH UNIONS

Samson and Delilah are a

good example of the
harm of an unclean
covenant.

Genesis 2:24 For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and
they shall become one flesh.

1 Corinthians 6:15-16 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take away
the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? May it never be! Or do you not know
that the one who joins himself to a prostitute is one body with her? For He says, “THE TWO SHALL
BECOME ONE FLESH.”

a. Sexual relationships create one-flesh unions

A one-flesh union is a covenant. The shedding of blood inside of intercourse signifies the forming of a
covenant relationship. Two individuals become one through the act of covenant and the shedding of
blood. Therefore, intercourse should not be entered into lightly, indiscriminately or without the
blessing of God.

b. In a covenant relationship there is a legal exchange

A covenant means that two people come into complete unity with another. With regard to sexual
intercourse, this is a sexual act, a spiritual act and a legal act.

In a covenant there is an exchange of everything that both parties possess; blessings and curses,
spiritual and physical possessions. The covenant might then be commemorated with an exchange of
weapons, exchange of wealth, declaration of vows and oaths, and a meal.

In a Godly marriage the essence of a covenant works to the benefit of both in the relationship.
However, Satan can take advantage of people through the door of exchange that is opened in a
covenant. Seeds of iniquity from one party to the other can be planted and deposited in the soul.
Samson and Delilah are a good example of the harm of an unclean covenant. Likewise, this was the
downfall of Solomon.

P a g e | 30
c. All sexual relationships open a realm of visitation for the unclean spirits attached to the one to
come to the other

There is no instant bondage created at the time of intercourse, but a visitation is loosed upon the
partner, and that visitation is seeking habitation. Therefore, a person could experience a charge of
temptation toward a new behavior or perspective. That seed must be confronted and rejected, or it
will lodge and grow.

2 Corinthians 7:1 Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement
of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

d. Illicit sexual behavior is damaging, and Satan knows it

Based upon the law of reciprocity (seed time and harvest) all sexual sin against you, sexual violation,
sexual touch, sexual lewdness, and sexual impurity opens a door for the unclean realm of the
perpetrator to come upon the victim. (Genesis 1:11)

e. Satan wants to perpetuate a promiscuous culture

1 Corinthians 6:18-20 Flee immorality. Every other sin that a man commits is outside the body, but the
immoral man sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit
who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been bought with
a price: therefore, glorify God in your body.

f. Restoration

The Lord can make you whole again. His love for you will restore your innocence and cleanse your
soul of darkness. As you pray through your homework assignments you’ll come into complete
healing.

Door Eight - DISHONOR OF AUTHORITY

Miriam dishonored Moses and the

wife of Moses based upon her skin
color. She did not want to follow
Moses, so she looked for a fault. This
resulted in a judgment of sickness.

a. Dishonor of authority can open the door to oppression, torment, or judgment

There are several examples of rebellion against authority in scripture and in many cases, it resulted in
a judgment.

Numbers 12:1-4 Then Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Cushite woman whom he
had married (for he had married a Cushite woman); and they said, “Has the LORD indeed spoken only
through Moses? Has He not spoken through us as well?” And the LORD heard it. (Now the man Moses
was very humble, more than any man who was on the face of the earth.) Suddenly the LORD said to
Moses and Aaron and to Miriam, “You three come out to the tent of meeting.” So the three of them came
out.

b. Dishonor is a contradiction to God’s order and can be a legal access of Satan against us

Deuteronomy 5:16 'Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you,
that your days may be prolonged and that it may go well with you on the land which the LORD your
God gives you.’

1 Samuel 15:23 “For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and insubordination is as iniquity and
idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, he has rejected you from being king."

P a g e | 32
c. Honor yields the fruit of peace and brings God’s reward

1 Peter 5:5-8 You younger men, likewise, be subject to your elders; and all of you, clothe yourselves
with humility toward one another, for GOD IS OPPOSED TO THE PROUD, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE.
Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time,
casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you. Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your
adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

Door Nine - TRAUMA

Luke 21:26 “…men fainting

from fear, and the expectation
of the things which are
coming upon the world; for
the powers of the heavens
will be shaken.”

a. Bondage of fear

Some bondages start through the entrance of fear due to a specific traumatic event. A traumatic
event is the trigger to allow Satan to attack the soul.

The range of what can be considered a trauma might include:

Auto accident
Physical attack
Strike to the head
Sudden fall
Sudden loss of wealth or loved one
Heart attack
Sickness
Severely beaten by parents
Severely hurt by your Father
Experiencing the abuse of a sibling or parent
Being knocked unconscious

Symptoms of trauma:

Regret Nervous Disorders

Self-pity Neck and Back Pain
Self-hatred Crohn’s Disease
Fear Bowel Disorders
Failure Panic Attacks
Distrust of God Disillusionment
Suicide

P a g e | 34
b. Trauma can release instant oppression

Where a seed of iniquity usually grows over time into a root that produces unclean fruit, a traumatic
event is most like the transplant of a tree producing fruit.

In 1990 we built a new house, and all seemed wonderful. We were one of the first houses in a new
development and as such, it wasn’t too clear where our neighboring houses would be located. When
we found out, we were saddened at the least. What did we do? We transplanted trees into our yard
as a screen.

This is like a trauma. The trauma bypasses the steps and time needed for growth. The transplant
instantly becomes a tree with large roots (dominating force of influence). Hidden in the trauma are
spirits of fear, emotional and physical disorder.

Ron, an acquaintance, recently was hit by an auto as a pedestrian. As a result, he now has diabetes,
hypertension and heart disease all due to what the doctors told him was “blunt trauma”.

c. Oppression through trauma can go undetected

The demonic realm attached to a trauma can go undetected and hidden behind the occurrence of the
event. The event is the focus and usually the event gets the blame for the change the person senses
in their mind, emotions, and body.

An oppression, attack, or alteration of being that starts from a trauma is then protected because the
person afflicted does not know what to fight or how to fight.

If oppression of some kind started with a trauma, once the thinking is addressed and changed there is
still a root to that bondage. The root is the spirit of influence at the root of the trauma. That spirit
will have to be driven out.

d. All oppression can be dismissed

There is not one influence that will not bow to the name of Jesus. As you expose the influence that’s
attached to the trauma you experienced, you will be set free.

Door Ten - EMOTIONAL TRIALS

• In your teens you dream about

conquering the world.
• In your 20’s you prepare to conquer
the whole world.
• In your 30’s you are conquering.
• In your 40’s you see how little you
can conquer.
• In your 50’s you may fall prey to
depression.

Proverbs 13:12 Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but desire fulfilled is a tree of life.

a. Negative life circumstances can play into the vulnerability toward addiction

What has been your internal reaction and turmoil to the struggles of life?

If, over time, a person’s circumstances worsen or disappoint, that person begins to get ministered to
by spirits of failure and fear - then depression, discouragement, hopelessness and despair. Should
they allow this to spiral downward, they will seek for ways to medicate their pain or find some means
of escape.

b. Emotional trials that can cause a testing in the heart:

Unfulfilled dreams
Financial collapse
Disappointment
Spousal unfaithfulness
Spousal abuse
Employer abuse
Divorce
Loss of job
Mid-life crisis
Gradual and recurring losses
Failure as you move into mid-life

P a g e | 36

Door Eleven - ANESTHESIOLOGY, LOSS OF CONSCIOUSNESS

Luke 21:34a "Be on guard, so

that your hearts will not
be weighted down with
dissipation and drunkenness
and the worries of life…”

a. During a loss of consciousness people have come under demonic oppression

This is most often revealed by a change in the person’s emotional state or outlook when they “come
to”.

This can transpire through drug use, alcohol, and other means of losing consciousness. This kind of
oppression happens due to the “lack of guard” over the mind. The effect could be due to an
influence of demonic powers that already had a place of influence having come up into a higher level
of manifestation (such as a seed being activated to produce fruit).

As with a trauma, the spirits are supposing and hoping you won’t recognize the change in your inner
nature as demonic, but rather, as a result of the loss of consciousness.

If you don’t recognize the change as spiritual, you won’t confront the problem to renounce it and
drive it out of your life.

b. Drunkenness discouraged in scripture

Proverbs 2:11 Discretion will guard you, Understanding will watch over you…

The lack of control of the mind is not encouraged in scripture. It is better to have a guard on the
mind, a sound mind and self-control. If you have experienced a loss of consciousness due to drugs or
alcohol this could have been the open door to demons of deception and oppression.

These spirits that had access to you could still be lingering just because you have not brought
resistance against them.

P a g e | 38
c. Dreaming can reveal hidden seeds of iniquity

Dreaming is a subconscious realm. In a state of dreaming a person is not in full control of their
actions and reactions. Therefore, people may engage in activity that they would never allow
themselves to act out during a conscious state.

Indwelling influences can assert their influence over the mind during a dreaming state of mind. This
can be one way to observe what residual seeds of iniquity you might still have oppressing your soul.
It’s not uncommon for a person to experience the following:

Sexual dreams
Adulterous dreams
Murderous dreams
Revenge dreams
Failure dreams
Fear dreams
Embarrassment and shame dreams

An acquaintance told me of a conflict he had with a neighbor. That night he dreamed he killed the
neighbor. Was there a murderous spirit lurking as a seed of iniquity within?

A close friend has struggled with failure and the fear of failure, yet they are an achiever. For years,
before any big event they were responsible for, they would dream of a disaster.

Door Twelve - DEATH OF A PARENT

Matthew 12:43-44 "Now when

the unclean spirit goes out
of a man, it passes through
waterless places seeking
rest, and does not find it.
Then it says, 'I will return to my
house from which I came';
and when it comes, it finds it
unoccupied, swept, and
put in order.”

a. Spirits tend to seek a habitation and expression in humans

Humans are the preferred residence of demon spirits. When a person dies, the spirit will lose its
habitation. At that time, it seems common that these spirits will seek a home in the living family
members of the deceased.

It is important to take note of the death of relatives and to guard your soul around the time of a
death of a parent.

Not that these demons have a legal right to oppress you, but they will seek an opportunity and wait
for a time of vulnerability. Some have unknowingly been affected.

STEP
ACKNOWLEDGE
3 GOD'S SOLUTION
STEP THREE: Acknowledge God’s Solution

A. Jesus is God’s solution to our brokenness

Galatians 3:13-14 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us—for it is
written, “CURSED IS EVERYONE WHO HANGS ON A TREE”— in order that in Christ Jesus the blessing of
Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we would receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

John 10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came so that they may have life, and
have it abundantly.

John 1:12-13 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God,
even to those who believe in His name, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the
will of man, but of God.

We yearn for a fruitful life. We yearn for peace, love, and fulfillment. Yet we experience turmoil
repeatedly. This causes us to look for solutions. It’s easy and common to look for what the soul is
yearning for through the common solutions of the world system.

1. Religious solutions: TM, Buddhism, meditation, Islam, Horoscope, Unitarianism, mysticism,

witchcraft, Hebrew studies, Eastern religions, religious perfection, religious service, church
attendance, tithing, good deeds, Scientology, etc.

2. Chemical solutions: Prozac, alcohol, anti-depressants, other pharmaceuticals, smoking and

medicating substances.

3. Psychological solutions: Seeking love and acceptance from family, our spouse, friends,
authorities, our children and from a parent.

4. Performance solutions: Vocational performance, sports, serving, achieving and recognition.

P a g e | 41
None of these solutions satisfy or provide deliverance and restoration. So, what makes Jesus our
restoration solution? What is unique about the ministry of Jesus?

Jesus is not just a spiritual helper or higher power to help you fight a lifelong addiction or disease.
Nor did He come just to forgive us. Jesus came to remake us in His image and restore dominion to us
in the earth. Salvation brings a change of nature, not just discipline over the old life with its habits.
The old life is put to death on the cross and a new creation springs up (2 Corinthians 5:17).

The foundation of recovery is found in restoration. Father wants to restore your life to a type of
Adam in Eden. Jesus restores us by granting to us the gift righteousness (right standing with Father).
This is the cornerstone of the new creation.

Four important relationships are transformed as a result of righteousness. These relationships are the
four cornerstones of life. Jesus, the chief cornerstone, restores these vital cornerstones. These
cornerstones are your relationship with God, with Satan, with yourself and with others.

Since Jesus is the chief cornerstone, He alone changes the composition of our foundation by changing
the composition of each cornerstone as we place our faith in Him. If you’ve become a new creation,
you have received the potential of an unshakable life.

B. First Adam and your pre-conversion life

Before we came to Christ our building was unsafe. Our foundation was weak. The mortar was poor,
and the reinforcements absent. Our cornerstones were out of place, out of level and poorly built. We
couldn’t handle too much weight without a breakdown, a crack and a corner collapsing. It’s because
our lives were given over to the law of sin and death.

Romans 5:12 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and
so death spread to all men, because all sinned…

Romans 8:1-2 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of
the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.

The law of sin and death is the law of Adam’s race. It is a law that all in Adam will sin and judgment
unto death is the penalty.

This law has held each of us in bondage to Satan, separated us from God and put the imprint of
Satan’s nature upon our soul. Unrighteousness was imputed to us as a gift and no one in Adam could
escape this law.

P a g e | 42
Position Cornerstone:

I was separated from God

A broken relationship with God means we were alienated, separated from Him and from the
covenant of promises. Resulting in inferiority, shame, guilt, doubt, distrust and condemnation.

Power Cornerstone:

I came under the domination of Satan and the curse

Alienation and separation from God put us under our “father” the devil. Resulting in fear of death,
rebellion, pride, deceit, idolatry, bondage and judgment.

Purpose Cornerstone:

I viewed myself as inferior and insignificant

Alienation and separation from God resulted in failure, pride, anxiety, self-pity, depression,
discouragement, worry, works, legalism, performance and perfection.

Partnership Cornerstone:

I became alienated and at war with others

Alienation and separation from God resulted in selfishness, jealousy, covetousness, envy, fear of man,
contention, strife, bitterness, unforgiveness and pride.

The brokenness of these four relationships keeps us from building a significant life. Even after
salvation these foundation stones can be corrupted, damaged and lack proper reinforcement.

P a g e | 43
C. Last Adam and your new creation life

God came “in Christ”, the perfect man, your representative to deliver you from the law of sin and death
and restore the cornerstones of your life.

Jesus is the last Adam, the new creation Adam and the chief cornerstone. He first restores the
cornerstone of our position with God, then out of a healed place in God the others are brought into
restoration.

Acts 4:10-12 “…Let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus
Christ the Nazarene, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead-- by this name this man
stands here before you in good health. He is the STONE WHICH WAS REJECTED by you, THE BUILDERS,
but WHICH BECAME THE CHIEF CORNER stone. And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no
other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.”

Position Cornerstone:

I became a favored son or daughter and am brought into fellowship with my Father.

Jesus grants us His righteousness when we come to Him in faith. This right standing with God is a gift
we can’t earn or deserve. He makes us sons and daughters of the Most High. He makes us Kings and
Priests unto God. We become part of His royal family.

2 Corinthians 5:21 He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become
the righteousness of God in Him.

P a g e | 44
Power Cornerstone:

I am delivered from and granted authority over Satan.

Jesus the man conquered Satan on our behalf by fully obeying God and never yielding to sin. He did
this in His manhood. He did this as a representative head. His perfection made His sacrifice on the
cross effective before God since he took the penalty we all deserved. His perfection gave Him
authority over Satan and His sacrifice delivered us from the accusation of judgment Satan had used
against us.

Colossians 2:13-15 When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh,
He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions, having canceled out the
certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the
way, having nailed it to the cross. When He had disarmed the rulers and authorities, He made a public
display of them, having triumphed over them through Him.

Purpose Cornerstone:

I am set in this generation and wrapped in purpose with provision.

In Jesus your identity is restored. You are set free from failure, condemnation, inferiority, shame,
rejection and self-hatred. You will be fruitful. You can love who God made you to be. You are chosen.
You can bask in His great love for you. You are loved. You are favored to fulfill your assignment.

Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, And before you were born I consecrated
you…”

Genesis 12:1-2 Now the LORD said to Abram, “Go forth from your country, And from your relatives And
from your father’s house, To the land which I will show you; And I will make you a great nation, And I
will bless you, And make your name great; And so you shall be a blessing;

Genesis 1:28 God blessed them; and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth,
and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing
that moves on the earth.”

P a g e | 45
Partnership Cornerstone:

I am made to compliment and serve as a partner.

As you bask in His great love for you, you are delivered from enmity, strife, jealousy and fighting. You
need not dominate your brother. You are empowered to live as a blessing. Your identity is to build up
and edify one another. You reflect the unconditional love you’ve received. You turn your swords into
plowshares. You co-labor with one another in community, tending the garden and extending the
blessing of Eden over the whole earth.

1 John 4:17 By this, love is perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment;
because as He is, so also are we in this world.

Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

E. Acknowledge what Jesus has done for you

The complete work of restoration that Father has poured out upon you cannot be sabotaged by your
history or your sins. You only need to believe and acknowledge that Jesus is more than forgiveness.
You can activate the love Father has for you and His desire to restore you by confessing who Jesus is
in your life.

Romans 10:8-10 “THE WORD IS NEAR YOU, IN YOUR MOUTH AND IN YOUR HEART”—that is, the word of faith
which we are preaching, that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart
that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in
righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.

Acknowledge that Jesus is more than forgiveness and eternal life.

Acknowledge Him as your righteousness.
Acknowledge Him as the restorer of your true identity.
Acknowledge Him as your healer, provider and protector of your life.
Acknowledge Him as your authority, your empowerment, your warrior and overcomer.
Confess that He grants you His authority and His power against all the power of the enemy.
Confess Him as the love for you that allows you to love yourself.
Confess Him as the love within you and the love that overflows to those who need love.
Confess Him as the author of your destiny.
Confess Him as the one who chose you for this generation, the one who vindicates you, the one who
justifies you, the one who defends you.
Enter fully into His love for you.

Restored Life homework – Acknowledge God’s Solution:

Be mindful of your pre-conversion habits and behaviors. Examine what habits and mindsets have
continued into the New Creation side of the cross.

1. List ways you previously sought for identity and self-worth.

2. List any things you still look to for identity and self-worth.

3. Repent, renounce and break agreement with these wrong methods of fruitfulness by praying
through each area out loud.

4. Describe any other insights you’ve gained on your new creation identity. How do these insights
change your perspective on life?

P a g e | 48
STEP
REPENT OF
4 YOUR WRONGS
STEP FOUR: Repent of Your Wrongs

"Repent" is the translation of a Greek verb (metaneo), meaning “to have another mind, to change
the mind,” and is used in the New Testament to indicate a change of mind in respect to sin, God and
self.

Consider the word pinnacle. The pinnacle is the highest point or top. To repent is to return to the
highest point or top. Turn your heart back to higher thoughts. It is to turn away from the vile and
unclean thoughts and to embrace the royalty God has called you to.

You might think certain injuries, molestation or theft require no repentance, but you must consider
whether or not you’ve sinned due to your injury. Have you come into agreement with the
assignment in the injury? Have you become a victim of the assignment or injury? Have you allowed
the influence of darkness to shape your mindset?

Many thoughts, attitudes, emotions and behaviors will require repentance, because we submitted,
we listened and fell under the spell of wrong thinking and wrongdoing. Whether your troubles
started with you or with others harming you, you now have a choice. You can stop the process of
death.

As we’ve learned, success in building an unshakable life comes through holding our four primary
relationships in proper order. In repentance a person is restoring their relationship to God.

Position: Reconciled to God.

Power: Ruling over Satan.
Purpose: Reconciled with self.
Partnership: Reconciled with man.

The whole spirit realm is watching to see if you will come into alignment with God. If you will, they
will take notice and you will once again be positioned for the fulfillment of God’s plans for you and
through you.

P a g e | 49
A. Reasons to repent

1. Change starts with you repenting

We started our sessions asking you to admit you have thoughts, emotions, habits, fears and
addictions. Now we are asking you to repent. Change your heart and return to God.

Ephesians 4:22-24 …That, in reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self, which is
being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit, and that you be renewed in the spirit of your
mind, and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and
holiness of the truth.

You’ll notice that the Holy Spirit will not violate your will. You must lay aside the old nature, habits
and mindset, and choose to be renewed in the mind.

Some Christians fail to take this step of responsibility for personal breakthrough. They say, “I guess
when God is ready, He will deliver me.” But scripture shows us that change will take place when you
take responsibility for your personal actions and your own life choices.

If you want change and you want God to help you, start with repenting of the wrongs you are aware
of. God will give you grace to change if you’ll start with the humility of repentance.

2. Repentance brings God near with mercy

Repentance is an act of humility and the fastest way to move God’s hand with mercy. David prayed,
“search me oh God…”

Procrastination will not get God’s attention.

Denial will not get God’s attention.
Excuses are just reasons that justify your unwillingness to yield to God and His wisdom.
Do not blame anyone else for the things you can now change.

Father is waiting for you with anticipation. When you take a step toward Him, He will run toward you
with mercy.

Luke 15:17-20 "But when he came to his senses, he said, 'How many of my father's hired men have
more than enough bread, but I am dying here with hunger! I will get up and go to my father, and will
say to him, "Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in your sight; I am no longer worthy to be called
your son; make me as one of your hired men."' So he got up and came to his father. But while he was
still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion for him, and ran and embraced him and
kissed him.

P a g e | 50
Mercy is to hold back the judgment that is due us. Father longs to show us mercy but we are called
to humble ourselves with repentance. When we do, He will come running.

B. Criteria for successful repentance

1. Repent of sins specifically and individually

In religion, we’ve been duped into offering general broad-brush prayers that bring no clarity to what
we’ve done wrong. Some confess a sin, but leave the confession very general. This is a ploy of Satan
to keep us from overcoming. Whatever remains unclear cannot be overcome.

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us
from all unrighteousness.

Leviticus 5:5-6a So it shall be when he becomes guilty in one of these, that he shall confess that in
which he has sinned. He shall also bring his guilt offering to the LORD for his sin which he has
committed…

2. Pray clear and specific prayers

Don’t allow yourself to pray general, obscure or broad-brush prayers. These prayers will not have the
power to overcome darkness. Pray clear and specific prayers.

“I repent for the way I looked at that woman with unclean desire in my heart. She is not mine; she is
yours. I repent of coveting her affection. I repent of making her an idol. I acknowledge that you are
my source and my reward. I repent of seeking my own reward. Father forgive me. I receive the
cleansing of the Blood of Jesus. I forsake this behavior in the name of Jesus, and I choose a mind of
love, a mind of purity, a mind of protection and kindness.”

“I repent of yielding to fear and control. I repent of the outburst that I brought forth because I
yielded to fear and control. Father forgive me for my folly and for my unbelief. Forgive me for the
words that I spoke in frustration and the negative emotions I projected on others. I receive the
cleansing of the Blood of Jesus. I acknowledge Jesus as my representative and Holy Spirit as my
protection and help and I forsake this behavior in the name of Jesus and I choose a mind of trust, a
mind of faith, a mind of patience and understanding.”

Restored Life homework – Repent of your wrongs

Your homework will be asking you to name and check the sins of your past. Not so much to gain
forgiveness, but specifically to:

1. Review your homework from the Assessing the Roots overview.

2. Take note of sins, thoughts and behaviors you need to repent of.

3. In a time of prayer, bring each issue up before the Lord specifically and separately.

P a g e | 52
STEP
RELEASE ALL
5 OFFENSES
STEP FIVE: Release All Offenses

A. Restore the relational cornerstones of your life

We’ve studied at length your sins, habits, addictions, fears and negative emotions in the light of the
influence of lineage, influence of others and injuries from others. By now you have a list of those that
have been used to cause you harm.

These injuries and disappointments have caused damage to three of your cornerstone relationships;
God, self and others.

Position Cornerstone:
1. Love God with all your heart. (Reconciled to God)

Power Cornerstone:
2. Hate the devil and all evil. (Ruling over Satan)

Purpose Cornerstone:
3. Love yourself just as God loves you. (Reconciled to self)

Partnership Cornerstone:
4. Love people with all your heart. (Reconciled to others)

P a g e | 53
The damage to our foundation hinders the building of our house. You might have thought, I’m going
to get them back, I’m going to give them a piece of my mind or I have a right to be angry with them.
You no doubt think they owe you an apology. However, in the Kingdom, the way up is down. And in
regard to these debts against you, the way to heal your heart is through forgiveness.

Forgiveness is choosing to release the sins against us and show these who have offended us mercy.
Mercy must be applied to three of these relationships to bring health and strength back to our
foundation.

B. Reasons to forgive

Matthew 18:23-35 “For this reason the kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who wished
to settle accounts with his slaves. When he had begun to settle them, one who owed him ten thousand
talents was brought to him. But since he did not have the means to repay, his lord commanded him to
be sold, along with his wife and children and all that he had, and repayment to be made. So the slave
fell to the ground and prostrated himself before him, saying, ‘Have patience with me and I will repay you
everything.’ And the lord of that slave felt compassion and released him and forgave him the debt. But
that slave went out and found one of his fellow slaves who owed him a hundred denarii; and he seized
him and began to choke him, saying, ‘Pay back what you owe.’ So his fellow slave fell to the
ground and began to plead with him, saying, ‘Have patience with me and I will repay you.’ But he was
unwilling and went and threw him in prison until he should pay back what was owed. So when his fellow
slaves saw what had happened, they were deeply grieved and came and reported to their lord all that
had happened. Then summoning him, his lord said to him, ‘You wicked slave, I forgave you all that debt
because you pleaded with me. Should you not also have had mercy on your fellow slave, in the same
way that I had mercy on you?’ And his lord, moved with anger, handed him over to the torturers until he
should repay all that was owed him. My heavenly Father will also do the same to you, if each of you does
not forgive his brother from your heart.”

1. God’s mercy and forgiveness will be withheld from you

Once we receive mercy, if we don’t give mercy, then mercy stops.

2. God will allow you to be tortured, tormented and oppressed

Who might be considered the jailers? (See 1 Corinthians 5:5)

P a g e | 54
3. Your prayers will not be answered

Your vertical relationship with Father can’t exceed your horizontal relationship with others.

Matthew 6:14-15 "For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also
forgive you. But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions.”

4. You open yourself up to a root of bitterness

A root of bitterness will bring rot within and destroy other relationships as well.

Hebrews 12:15 See to it that no one comes short of the grace of God; that no root of bitterness
springing up causes trouble, and by it many be defiled.

5. You will stay focused on and bound to the past

If you are bound to the past, you will live your life out of a reference to the past. Regret, blame, and
bitterness will be common. Choose now to stop meditating on your past injuries in the perspective of
a victim. Believe God is making you a brand-new person. Envision yourself set free. Meditate on the
new you.

Isaiah 43:18-19a Do not call to mind the former things, or ponder things of the past. Behold, I will do
something new, now it will spring forth; will you not be aware of it?

6. You will miss your restoration

a. Your enemy (and the one you can hate) is Satan, people are not the real enemy

Ephesians 6:12 We wrestle not with flesh and blood.

1 Peter 5:8 Your adversary is the devil.

b. When you see that Satan was your thief, then you can fully forgive the person

They were simply used by the devil as his puppet.

Proverbs 6:31 Seven-fold return means for a "full" restoration.

Matthew 12:29 You are to plunder the strong man/agree in God's plundering.
Joel 2:20-25 God will restore all that the cankerworm has stolen.

P a g e | 55
C. Keys to forgiveness

1. Forgive rapidly

Ephesians 4:24-26 Don’t let the sun go down on anger.

2. Forgive out loud

a. When you forgive people, you are breaking covenants of bitterness and indebtedness

You are canceling a debt that they owed you. Someone sincerely owes you:

● Your virginity.
● Your innocence.
● Your peace of mind.
● Your financial gain.
● Their acceptance and approval.

The debt relationship continues to exist because you have held on to the debt. In releasing them,
you let go of that debt and give it to God as an act of faith. However, it is not enough to release
them mentally in your heart alone.

b. The way we make, and break covenants is with the confession of the tongue

Sometimes we don’t confess our release, and in some cases, there are reasons.

● Just in case we want to change our mind.

● Just in case others might find out.

Romans 10:10 …for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he
confesses, resulting in salvation.

c. Forgive each person individually

Suzanne testified to the effectiveness of forgiving every person out loud. She had always believed
that she had forgiven everyone, since she had prayed. I.E., “Lord I forgive everyone for hurting me.”
While forgiving people individually she experienced a great release. Facing each individual hurt in
prayer was more challenging for her, but individual prayer has brought great reward. Demonic
powers were broken with each personal release.

P a g e | 56
3. Hand the Debt over to Father

The debt does not disappear, though that’s what we fear, but your care over the debt is given to
your Father. This is living in covenant and living in trust.

Romans 12:19 Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is
written, “VENGEANCE IS MINE, I WILL REPAY,” says the Lord.

a. Through forgiveness and trust, we leave room for the wrath of God

We turn over our cares and offenses to Him and He takes care of them and us.

Vengeance is a normal reaction to wrongdoing.

Vengeance is a righteous response to abuse.
Vengeance is retaliation, revenge or proper warfare to confront someone who has harmed you.

“Leave room” means:

● Back off before you blow it.
● Let God take the stress of such care.
● Let God defend you.
● Let God do your fighting for you.
● Commit your enemies into the hands of God and let Him take care of them.

b. The judgments of God are holy and right

We hand these debts to Father because the judgment of God is free from any element of self-
gratification or vindictiveness. Vengeance (revenge) is something that God works out perfectly. He
knows all about our perpetrator. He knows what judgment they need. He knows what will bring
them to their senses.

I Peter 2:22-23 …WHO COMMITTED NO SIN, NOR WAS ANY DECEIT FOUND IN HIS MOUTH; and
while being reviled, He did not revile in return; while suffering, He uttered no threats, but kept entrusting
Himself to Him who judges righteously…

Restored Life homework – Forgive others:

From the homework section, find the Personal Injury Assessment section and there record a list of
the injuries that have transpired due to others harming you (See LESSON 2, door #3). We encourage
you to list these in chronological order and in 5 year increments. In the second column describe how
the injury made you feel and what happened due to the injury.

After you complete your journal of hurts and losses from the past, pray a prayer of release over each
person who hurt or stole from you. Follow the “Prayer of Release” guide also found in the
homework section of your manual.

D. Forgiving yourself

1. One key to forgiveness that is often overlooked is self-forgiveness

We all have failed and contributed to our own problems. It is easy and common to wallow in regret
and self-loathing. Satan doesn't want you to forgive yourself. He will remind you how much you’ve
messed up and how rotten you are (were).

He will point to your mistakes to keep you feeling critical of yourself, agitated, and ashamed. This can
result in depression, self-hatred, discouragement, addictive problems, self-pity and hiding.
You might feel that it is humble or religiously correct to hold this view…saying, “I’ll never forgive
myself for THAT….”

P a g e | 58
2. You must give yourself mercy, just as you have received mercy

Romans 8:1 Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

We cannot assume that receiving forgiveness from God is the same as forgiving ourselves and thus
loving ourselves. To live in true freedom, treat yourself as another horizontal relationship that you
must treat with dignity.

Restored Life homework – Forgive yourself:

From the homework section, find the Personal Injury Assessment section and make sure you record a
list of the things that you hold against yourself then one by one release yourself from that debt.

E. Forgiving God

1. Many people are holding God responsible for their hurts and losses

A view of extreme sovereignty views that God is doing, causing or allowing all things to transpire “for
my good”. Therefore, I can trust that nothing is happening by accident or some random means.

With this unhealthy view we will blame things on God that God had nothing to do with, but because
we perceive that He “let us down” or “He allowed”, we distrust His love and hold Him in contempt.

God did not ordain your injuries and He would have liked to have stopped them. His heart was
broken over your brokenness. But God has limited His control in the affairs of man. Men are
sovereign beings; they have a free will.

Before evil transpires, He may convict the perpetrator, but many times they don’t listen. God seeks
to lead us, He seeks to guide us, if we’ll receive His counsel.

Instead, it is natural for us (people) to be rebellious and self-willed. People are easily moved by
demon influence to harm one another. God sees the harm and will judge the wrongdoer, and He
longs to rescue the wronged and restore them.

When life deals you pain, suffering and harsh circumstances, it is not God punishing you or declaring
worthlessness over you. It is Satan’s influence in life, in the earth and through people.

P a g e | 59
2. Father has kind intentions toward us

Romans 2:4 Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and tolerance and patience, not
knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance?

Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans for welfare and not for
calamity to give you a future and a hope.”

3. Father wants you to get a picture of His kindness and turn to Him

When we restore trust and rest in His perfect love, we will no longer doubt Him and we’ll forsake
anger.

1 Timothy 2:8 Therefore I want the men in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and
dissension.

STEP
RENOUNCE PAST
6 PATTERNS
STEP SIX: Renounce Past Patterns

In step six you will learn how to assert your personal sovereignty and your spiritual authority over
Satan and initiate your divorce proceedings.

Renouncing is an overt step toward your complete divorce from the earthly, sensual, demonic
system. Like the word denounce, renounce means to refuse to follow, obey, or recognize any
further (Merriam-Webster dictionary).

In the renouncing step you will begin to activate the power and authority that Jesus restored when
He presented you before Father hidden in His righteousness.

Position Cornerstone:
1. Love God with all your heart. (Reconciled to God)

Power Cornerstone:
2. Hate the devil and all evil. (Ruling over Satan)

Purpose Cornerstone:
3. Love yourself just as God loves you. (Reconciled to self)

Partnership Cornerstone:
4. Love people with all your heart. (Reconciled to others)

P a g e | 61
A. Renouncing is a legal announcement of divorce

1. By consent or by confession, you have maintained covenant relationships

In Adam's case, it was consent (obedience) to the words of Satan that inaugurated a covenant. His
obedience to Satan’s voice was an act of faith. This was the beginning of a covenant with darkness.

Unknowingly you’ve done the same thing. Any unbroken alliance with darkness has been considered
a covenant relationship (friendship-marriage-open door) with the demonic realm.

Examples of agreement for you might be:

“When I'm depressed, I will drink…”
“When I'm threatened, I will lie...”
“When I’m upset, I will swear…”
“When I'm not cared for, I will demand...”
“When I need attention, I will pout or abuse…”
“When I'm afraid I will control or manipulate…”
“When I'm depressed, I will overeat or medicate…”
“When I’m frustrated, I will yell...”
“When I feel rejected, I will fight back...”

If you believe a lie (in your heart) and confess it with your mouth or consent to it with behavior, then
it will result in a covenant. The oath is the pledge that you have made, the agreement you made with
the covenant partner. All covenants produce either life or death.

Romans 10:8-10 But what does it say? “THE WORD IS NEAR YOU, IN YOUR MOUTH AND IN YOUR HEART”—that
is, the word of faith which we are preaching, that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord,
and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a
person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.

2. Renouncing is to declare your repentance (change of mind)

To renounce a wrongful thought, feeling or behavior you must use your mouth. You are breaking the
agreement and tie with wrong thoughts, behaviors, and Satan. Covenants are made and broken with
the word of your mouth.

P a g e | 62
You’ve changed your mind Godward, and now you must declare your change in order for the change
to come to pass. You will declare your separation from the old thought, behavior, feeling, or belief
system. Think of it as a divorce.

2 Corinthians 4:1-2a Therefore, since we have this ministry, as we received mercy, we do not lose heart;
but we have renounced the things hidden because of shame…

Repentance might sound like:

“Father I repent of sexual immorality. I realize that I submitted to sexual temptation and sin. I turn
away from it, recognizing it as impure and unclean. Please wash me and cleanse my heart. I choose
to trust you and obey your word.”

When you renounce something, you take it one step further; you make it clear that a behavior or
attitude is no longer a part of your being or identity.

Renouncing sounds like:

“Not only do I repent, but I declare sexual sin and immorality is put to death in the Cross of Jesus
Christ. I am dead to its power. I am free from sexual immorality. I am not obligated to obey its
urging. Sexual immorality is not of me, and no longer a part of my identity. I am free to live in sexual
purity and restoration in Jesus’ name. Sexual immorality I renounce you.”

Use these examples to model your renouncing declaration. You can and should renounce any
thought, emotion or behavior that is not of the glory of the new creation in Christ Jesus.

3. Renouncing is serving Satan notice

When you participate in repenting, releasing, and renouncing the sins of the past you are set free in
the legal court of heaven. You will receive a legal judgment of deliverance from the righteous judge.

This puts an end to Satan’s permission to oppress you.

● God through Jesus Christ is the Judge.

● Satan is your adversary.
● The Holy Spirit is your attorney.
● Jesus is the Sheriff.
● You are the deputy.

Now you are ready for prayers of deliverance!

P a g e | 63

STEP
RESIST NEGATIVE
7 INFLUENCES
STEP SEVEN: Resist Negative Influences

In this lesson you will learn how to enforce the power and authority given to you in Christ Jesus and
put Satan under your feet. The doctrines of confession, repentance, forgiveness and even restitution
are all good doctrines to practice, and they bring a certain level of cleansing and freedom for sure.
But those who practice these doctrines alone will likely never be totally free from the bondage of
iniquity.

You may become accountable for a bondage, and you may receive encouragement to avoid the
behavior of the bondage, but without deliverance, you will essentially mow the weeds of that
bondage, never to remove the root. Only God, through Jesus, can remove the root of iniquity in a
person’s soul. This is called deliverance. Do not be deceived, Jesus has come to make you free and
make living a holy life easy.

Luke 4:18-19 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He anointed me to preach the gospel to the
poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free
those who are oppressed, to proclaim the favorable year of the Lord.”

You might know what I mean when I say ‘make holiness easy’, because you’ve already been delivered
from a stronghold or root of iniquity. You’ve come to experience victory over that temptation and
mindset. But how many other things plague you needlessly?

Deliverance is separate from salvation, which is healing your vertical relationship with God.
Deliverance is separate from healing a horizontal relationship with people. Deliverance is the final
step in setting you free from the demonic captivity that harmed and shaped your thoughts, emotions,
and behaviors.

To renounce is to issue a divorce, deliverance is to evict. This action will bring the Authority
Cornerstone of your life into restored alignment, as it was with Adam before the fall, as it was with
Jesus the last Adam. Deliverance will require a posture of confidence and strength, so get ready for
victory.

A. Reasons for personal engagement in spiritual war

1. Christians are called to a warfare and a fight of faith against evil, the devil and the curse

Ephesians 6:10-13 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor
of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not
against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness,
against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the full armor of God,
so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm

2. Jesus empowered mankind to defeat the devil

Acts 8:5-8 Philip went down to the city of Samaria and began proclaiming Christ to them. The crowds
with one accord were giving attention to what was said by Philip, as they heard and saw the signs which
he was performing. For in the case of many who had unclean spirits, they were coming out of them
shouting with a loud voice; and many who had been paralyzed and lame were healed. So there was
much rejoicing in that city.

3. The righteousness of Jesus is given to you for the purpose of reigning in life

Romans 5:17 For if by the transgression of the one, death reigned through the one, much more those who
receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus
Christ.

4. Jesus has made us deputies of His power and authority

Luke 10:1,8-9,17-20 Now after this the Lord appointed seventy others, and sent them in pairs ahead of
Him to every city and place where He Himself was going to come. (Saying,) “Whatever city you enter,
and they receive you, eat what is set before you; and heal those in it who are sick, and say to them, ‘The
kingdom of God has come near to you.'” And the seventy returned with joy, saying, ‘Lord, even the
demons are subject to us in Your name.’ And He said to them, “I was watching Satan fall from heaven
like lightning. Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the
power of the enemy, and nothing will injure you. Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are
subject to you, but rejoice that your names are recorded in heaven.”

Matthew 16:19 “I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth
shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven.”

B. Reasons for the prayer of rebuke to bring about freedom

1. Demons, by their very nature and assignment, are lawbreakers and transgressors

Matthew 12:29 "Or how can anyone enter the strong man's house and carry off his property, unless he
first binds the strong man? And then he will plunder his house.”

Demons will resist you and maintain their position until you exercise your authority over them. They
must be confronted and force to obey your will as you stand in the last Adam.

2. The prayer of rebuke is a normal part of overcoming in the earth

Most Christians think in terms of petition. They believe that asking GOD to take something away
should be sufficient. "Heavenly Father please take away my desire to_____________________”.

Jesus never prayed that way when it pertained to demons, nor did the disciples.

Imagine the folly of the Sheriff coming out to solve every violation within his jurisdiction. The Sheriff
of your region will send a deputy to confront the thief. So it is in deliverance. A rebuke is a command
that Jesus galvanizes with power when spoken so that the spirit is driven out of its house.

Matthew 17:18 And Jesus rebuked him, and the demon came out of him, and the boy was cured at
once.

Mark 1:25-26 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, "Be quiet, and come out of him!" Throwing him into
convulsions, the unclean spirit cried out with a loud voice and came out of him.

Mark 9:25 When Jesus saw that a crowd was rapidly gathering, He rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to
it, "You deaf and mute spirit, I command you, come out of him and do not enter him again."

Luke 4:34-35 “Let us alone! What business do we have with each other, Jesus of Nazareth? Have You
come to destroy us? I know who You are-- the Holy One of God!” But Jesus rebuked him, saying, "Be
quiet and come out of him!" And when the demon had thrown him down in the midst of the people, he
came out of him without doing him any harm.

P a g e | 67
3. Every believer needs a personal revelation of the power given to them

Luke 10:17-19 And the seventy returned with joy, saying, "Lord, even the demons are subject to us in
Your name." And He said to them, "I was watching Satan fall from heaven like lightning. Behold, I have
given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and
nothing will injure you.”

2 Timothy 3: 5 …Holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; avoid such men as
these.

4. We are exhorted to never fear harm from demonic entities

You have nothing to fear when praying for deliverance.

Luke 10:19 "Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power
of the enemy, and nothing will injure you.”

C. Submit and resist, the formula for deliverance

James 4:7 Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

1. Submit to God

There is a certain level of breakthrough, release and peace when you, in your soul, submit to God.
Father God meets you. This step restores your relationship with Him, and He will no longer resist
you.

Remember, this is essentially repentance. This is the Godward step required to establish
righteousness with God in regard to the POSITION CORNERSTONE. Think of submitting to God’s
wisdom, God’s truth, God’s holiness, and God’s way.

Some think this pertains to salvation, but it’s much more specific than just salvation. One can be born
of the spirit and have many arguments against God’s word still lodged in the soul.

P a g e | 68
2. Resist the Devil

The meaning of resist from the Strong’s exhaustive concordance:

Resist: anthistemi, (anth-is'-tay-mee): to stand against, i.e., oppose; resist, withstand.

This is consistent with the instruction to “cast” out or “drive” out demons. I like to use the concept of
dismissing the spirit. This too is acceptable and easy to understand.

Mark 16:15-17 And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. He who
has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned. These
signs will accompany those who have believed: In my name they will drive out demons…”

The meaning of “cast”: 1544. ekballo, (ek-bal'-lo): to eject (literally or figuratively): bring forth, cast
(forth, out), drive (out), expel, leave, pluck (pull, take, thrust) out, put forth (out), send away (forth,
out).

Demon spirits must be driven out. To drive out a spirit, you apply a rebuke until the spirit cooperates
and leaves the individual. This is what we see Jesus doing.

Luke 8:26-29 Then they sailed to the country of the Gerasenes, which is opposite Galilee.
And when He came out onto the land, He was met by a man from the city who was possessed with
demons; and who had not put on any clothing for a long time, and was not living in a house, but in the
tombs. Seeing Jesus, he cried out and fell before Him, and said in a loud voice, "What business do we
have with each other, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg You, do not torment me." For He had
commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For it had seized him many times; and he was
bound with chains and shackles and kept under guard; and yet he would break his bonds and be driven
by the demon into the desert.

D. Prerequisites to the prayer of deliverance

1. Complete a potential bondage summary as outlined in our homework

This list will be generated by filling out your homework completely (as well as the knowledge that
comes from current difficulties, the Holy Spirit, and dreams).
This will give you overview of all the potential spirits who have worked behind the scenes to affect
your personality, attitudes, behaviors, and lifestyle.

Form #1. Root Assessment

Form #2. Personal Injury Assessment

Be exhaustive in listing the traits, sins and bondages of your parents and sexual partners. Likewise,
list the labels, personal vows, and spiritual connections of your past. List all your personal sins of the
past, even if they are forgiven and under the blood.

The list you are compiling is not meant to dig up your past with condemnation in mind. Our posture
is that you are forgiven. Our purpose in what we compile is to examine any door where Satan might
have accessed your soul. Even though sins are forgiven, you can still have a stronghold in the soul or
body.

E. Praying the prayer of deliverance

1. Make a list of the potential spirits troubling you

List the name, nature or cause of the spirit. Make this list by examining your homework. Use a
different colored pen or highlight to make a clear list. If you know the proper name of a spirit you
should also know its character or purpose.

Use additional homework sheets in the back of this manual to help guide you as you confront specific
demons.

2. Before starting, pray out loud prayers of forgiveness, repentance, and renouncing

Anytime you are engaging in a deliverance prayer of rebuke start with the previous steps we’ve outlined
to ready your soul and ready the spiritual atmosphere for your freedom.

P a g e | 70
3. Focus

Don’t confront all spirits at once. This is not time for shotgun rebuke. Focus on one family of spirits at
a time and aim all your energy upon them by name for several minutes. Don’t move on too quickly.

4. Speak directly to the spirits

Remember you are acting as a deputy of Jesus. You are not praying to God; you are standing in the
authority God has given you.

5. Address the spirits with a prolonged rebuke until you feel relief or peace

a. Identify and command the spirit to get out of your life. Rebuke this way:

“I cast you out!”

“I command you to go.”
“I resist you and command you to flee!”
“I will not submit to you any longer!”
“I choose Jesus and He drives you out.”
“I am the property of the Lord Jesus Christ!”
“I am sanctified by Him in spirit, soul and body!”
“I cast you out of my body and soul!”
“Get out! Get out! Gather yourselves and get out!”
“I dismiss you in the name of Jesus.”

b. Sustain a forceful rebuke

Use these kinds of phrases for a period of several minutes, demanding that any spirits who might be
influencing or oppressing flee.

If your focus is connected to an unclean source you will begin to feel a stirring in your gut. When you
feel a sensation, continue until you dismiss the spirit fully. They come out as breath, so watch for the
pressure of breath to leave you. Continue to drive out others who might be attached to the family
you are focused on.

P a g e | 71
6. As spirits have left you take an inventory

After you receive a good measure of freedom, pause your rebuke and write down what has
transpired, and which spirits have departed. If you are praying with a mentor or friend, they can help
with the record keeping. This record keeping will help you prepare to renew your mind with the
Word of God.

7. Refuse to entertain any thoughts that might come up against what’s transpired

Be on the guard for thoughts that pop up in the mind after a period of ministry. Take every thought
captive to who you’ve been made to be in Christ. Confront any such thoughts and refuse them. Take
note of any that might be indicators of other internal strongholds.

8. Continue with ongoing personal ministry

Rarely does one obtain their freedom in one session. After you have some breakthrough, it will make
it easier for further victory. Set aside time for more deliverance prayers and continue until you are
totally free.

F. Ministry tips

Deliverance prayers are best done in a quiet area away from distraction. If you are seeking
deliverance prayers from a mentor, invite only one or two to pray for you in a prayer session. Only
one at a time will lead the rebuke. For a full overview of mentor practices and protocol see our
Restored Life Training Handbook.

Restored Life homework – Resist negative influences:

Turn to your homework section and use the information you’ve filled out in each category to detail a
list of unclean influences you’ll be targeting in focused rebuke. If you are meeting with a Restored
Life mentor, bring your homework with you for the meeting. Fill out as much as possible before the
meeting.

STEP
RENEW YOUR
8 THINKING
STEP EIGHT: Renew Your Thinking

Judges 6:12 The angel of the LORD appeared to him (Gideon) and said to him, “The LORD is with you, O
valiant warrior.”

Gideon had his mind renewed… What happened to him?

Gideon caught a glimpse of what Father thought of him redemptively. Then he caught a glimpse of
what he should do. To renew means to take on a new way of thinking about yourself. From a biblical
perspective, it means to see yourself as God sees you. To see yourself in the royalty God ordained for
you, to see yourself with the restored foundation Christ has rebuilt for you, and to see your trees
flourishing.

The mind of mankind is parallel to the brain. Both work in harmony. When you are taking in
information, you are shaping both. When you are thinking, you are engaging both. The amazing thing
is that both can be transformed. Habits can be reversed. Patterns can be arrested and replaced. This
means you can change as you renew your mind.

Romans 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind,
so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

A. Why renew your mind?

How does one sustain a change of thought and behavior to live free from an old pattern?

Some in Biblical ministry, therapeutic ministry and deliverance ministry believe deliverance is enough
to set you on your way. They are mainly deliverance focused.

P a g e | 73
Some say accountability is enough. A sponsor will be able to help you overcome your addictive cycle.

Some Christian ministries believe repenting is sufficient to bring about a change in thought and
behavior. Bring your issue to the cross and leave it there.

Some believe you can just stop the behavior and get some “clean” days under your belt. The further
you are from a transgression, the more chance of long-term victory.

Though each of these have value, we at Restored Life have found that none by themselves can
sustain a victory over a pattern of the sinful nature that has been empowered by the demonic realm.

To sustain a victory over the enemy, you need all of the above as well as new patterns of thinking. If
you have not fortified your thoughts with New Creation thinking, it’s easy to fall back into the old
thoughts, patterns and behaviors.

Matthew 12:43-44 “Now when the unclean spirit goes out of a man, it passes through waterless places
seeking rest, and does not find it. Then it says, 'I will return to my house from which I came'; and when it
comes, it finds it unoccupied, swept, and put in order.”

When a person experiences deliverance, the spirit attached to a habit or addiction departs. This is
good. But this does not mean they’ve changed the way they process life situations.

B. Addictions and bondages are sustained with natural reasoning

James 3:14-16 But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant
and so lie against the truth. This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly,
natural, demonic. For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing.

This is really first Adam’s reasoning and demonic reasoning…

Wrong activity/behavior/dysfunction once served a purpose that made sense to you.

Wrong behaviors made sense to the old, first creation Adam. Physical addictions and bondages are
birthed and maintained when you try to handle life’s problems with a natural, earthy, demonic
answer. Granted, maybe you didn’t know it was demonic. You didn’t have a different answer or a
better answer and sometimes even though we knew better, we wanted the fulfillment of doing it our
way.

Why do you do what you do? Because you think it will work, it will help, it will protect, it will fulfill, it
will feel good or it’s beneficial. Thus, these natural tools serve us to meet our needs.

P a g e | 74
The problem is, human reasoning creates a boundary to God as we partner with the demonic. This
becomes obvious when casting out a demonic stronghold of wrong behavior.

Often the person can’t be delivered from the behavior because of the “helplessness they would feel”
without the tools that are on loan from Satan. They feel that they know how to cope, but it’s not in a
godly way.

• You must have some tools.

• You must have some protection.
• You must have some guard.
• You must have some boundaries.
• You must have some identity.

This partnership with wrong thinking is what allows demons to hang on when they are being
assaulted with a rebuke. It’s also what will cause them to come back to see if your house has been
filled once they are expelled.

Proverbs 14:12 There is a way which seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.

The question is will it be your way or will it be God’s? (Galatians 2:20)

Anytime you choose to go man’s way (using the tools from the natural realm) instead of God’s way
(using the tools from heaven) then bondage will be the result.

First you use the tool, then the tool uses you. At first you just have one little smoke when you feel
like it. Then after a season something is demanding that you have a smoke all the time. What starts
as a pacifier becomes bondage.

The bondage behavior eventually becomes a part of your “identity” as you see that you must depend
upon it for help and satisfaction.

P a g e | 75
Examples of “natural” wrong thinking that result in bondages

1. We are controlling because we can’t ever lose control

If a person is damaged, hurt, rejected, or violated, it will feel good to develop control. Control can
spring up out of fear. The person develops a fear of damaging events happening again. The control
seeks to protect your life by protecting your situations and controlling others to that end.

• We talk fast or we don’t talk at all.

• We keep them guessing and on their toes.
• We will get our way one way or the other.
• We refuse to trust ourselves to God and especially others.

2. We have fits of fleshly anger, because it works

• It gets a response, it causes people to get out of the way, it intimidates, it makes things happen
for us...so we think.
• We fail to see that there is a better way.
• Therefore, we fail to embrace the greater power of grace and truth.
• There is a time for righteous anger, but we have become victims to anger, using it in every
situation. What we once controlled and used to control, now controls us.

3. We drink, smoke, snort and shoot because when we do, we feel better

• We forget all our problems; we forget our failures and our pain.
• We escape our fears.
• We have more of what we think we lack (courage, energy, sexual pleasure).
• Our pains and shames are great, and we don’t want to be under the weight of them.

4. We seek sexual satisfaction through pornography or fantasy because those relationships are
“safe”

Those struggling with rejection often seek sexual immorality in pornography or fantasy because they
figure they aren’t hurting anyone.

• We can’t be rejected by movies, pornographic material, or romantic fantasies.

• We can’t be called names.
• We can’t be embarrassed.

P a g e | 76
5. We use self-pity to bring attention to ourselves

We crave love and sympathy. Self-pity might be an effective way to draw it out of people. This is
what we think. Little do we know that self-pity ends with rejection.

6. We use theft and deceit as a means to prosper

You reason that they have plenty, they won’t miss it, life’s not fair to you, or you must watch out for
number one.

7. We see legalism and perfect performance as the path to our inheritance

Like the prodigal son’s brother, you believe you must work hard to be accepted. You only get the
affirmation you need and crave when you perform perfectly. You can’t allow yourself to make a
mistake.

C. Addictions and bondages are sustained by our connection to the past

We can fall back into sin and unfruitful habits, patterns, and addictions because we remember far too
well who we were.

Our intellect, emotions, reasoning and imagination are filled with the memories, experiences, habits
and understanding of who we were. Not only this, but we tend to think who we were is who we are.
Further, Satan the accuser, keeps galvanizing this perspective with accusations.

In this environment we tend to come into agreement with a flawed identity by thinking and saying,
“we’re only human”, or “we’re merely human.”

1 Corinthians 3:1-3 And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual men, but as to men of flesh, as
to infants in Christ. I gave you milk to drink, not solid food; for you were not yet able to receive it.
Indeed, even now you are not yet able, for you are still fleshly. For since there is jealousy and strife
among you, are you not fleshly, and are you not walking like mere men?

Romans 6:5-7 For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall
also be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order
that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin; for he who
has died is freed from sin.

P a g e | 77
D. Steps to renew the mind

1. Pluck out the old thoughts, imaginations and emotions

We must fully see and believe that the old person we were is totally dead and that we have become a
totally new person. We must see and believe this every day and every moment of every day.

Colossians 3:1-5 Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where
Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are
on earth. For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, is
revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory. Therefore consider the members of your
earthly body as dead to immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry.

We cannot give life to that old Adamic person in any way, shape or form, or it will resurrect our sin
nature and open a door for Satan to deceive us again.

Once we are delivered from the demonic influence that held us, we only sin and fall prey to sins
desires when we allow ourselves to go back and resurrect the old life. In other words, New Creation
people must sin on purpose. First Adam people will always sin and fall short of the glory of God,
that’s the nature of first Adam. Last Adam’s children conquer sin just as He who formed us
conquered sin. We bear the image of the heavenly Adam.

1 Corinthians 15:48-49 As is the earthy, so also are those who are earthy; and as is the heavenly, so also
are those who are heavenly. Just as we have borne the image of the earthy, we will also bear the image
of the heavenly.

Therefore, we escape fully the patterns and influences of iniquity when we put first Adam to death.

2. Plant the seeds of God’s Word in your mind

a. Your mind is a garden. You’ve had the seeds and weeds of the demonic growing in your garden.
These weeds are from the seeds of deception and iniquity, seeds from the demonic realm. (see
Matthew 13, Luke 8)

Matthew 13:20-22 The one on whom seed was sown on the rocky places, this is the man who hears the
word and immediately receives it with joy; yet he has no firm root in himself, but is only temporary, and
when affliction or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he falls away. And the one on
whom seed was sown among the thorns, this is the man who hears the word, and the worry of the world
and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.

P a g e | 78
b. The Word of God is called a seed…incorruptible seed. Every step you’ve embraced thus far has
prepared you for the Word of God to be planted in the soil of your heart.

Luke 8:11 "Now the parable is this: the seed is the word of God.”

c. Plant the Word of God in the specific (topical) tree roots of your heart to overcome the weeds
and roots of your past life and the challenges of the future. Truth must be planted directly in the
place of the error. Planted in the same need, vulnerability, desire, injury or circumstance. There, it
will bear the fruit of renewal.

James 1:21 Therefore, putting aside all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive
the word implanted, which is able to save your souls.

Hebrews 11:1-2 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by
it the men of old gained approval.

Genesis 15:5 And He took him outside and said, “Now look toward the heavens, and count the stars, if
you are able to count them.” And He said to him, “So shall your descendants be.”

Joshua 6:1-2 Now Jericho was tightly shut because of the sons of Israel; no one went out and no one
came in. The LORD said to Joshua, “See, I have given Jericho into your hand, with its king and the valiant
warriors.”

Numbers 13:33 “There also we saw the Nephilim (the sons of Anak are part of the Nephilim); and we
became like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.”

2 Corinthians 1:20 For as many as are the promises of God, in Him they are yes; therefore also through
Him is our Amen to the glory of God through us.

STEP
CONFESS A NEW
9 IDENTITY
STEP NINE: Confess a New Identity

The focus of this lesson is on the importance of planting the seeds of the Word of God into the spirit
realm to shape the reality of your present and future. This lesson will support you in developing the
life parallel to the new creation you truly are in Christ. The principles you will learn will be the
cornerstone relating to PURPOSE.

First, we should establish that words have power. God tells us that words are both natural and spiritual.
That words from God and used by God carry the DNA of God, so like seeds, they create after their own
nature.

Isaiah 55:11 “So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; it will not return to Me empty,
without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.”

This means words have the power to bring forth the changes we are desiring and believing for as they
are planted by faith. Could the power of your tongue turn things around for you? What if you could
marry your tongue to a renewed mind and sanctified imagination, could that turn things around for
you?

A. What should you say, pronounce or confess about your identity, behavior and desires?

We often let behaviors and circumstances determine our confession

We tend to report on what we are experiencing and what our weaknesses are. We talk in such a way
that puts us in agreement with what we are experiencing. This is true among Christians as well as
non-Christians.

P a g e | 83
Examples might include:
I’m just a push over.
I’m a mess.
I cannot control myself.
I never do it right.
I cannot love them.
I will never forgive myself.
I can’t get over what they did to me.
I cannot forgive them.
I’m the most impatient person on the planet.
I don’t think I could be with one person my whole life.
I’m so dumb.
I’m an idiot.

It is common for recovery programs, clinics and rehabilitation centers in our culture to encourage you
to confess your disease or weakness as an identity. This is required because the nature of your
dysfunction is a born, inherent disease.

This confession is seen as part of the transparency, humility and accountability required for
overcoming the disease. Therefore, this kind of confession or pronouncement is a key to “recovery.”

There are several problems with this approach

As with other religious or psychological approaches, this method of recovery is based on behavior
modification, false humility, accountability and discipline.

a. It keeps the Adamic (old) nature alive

The disease or dysfunction is affirmed and allowed to continue, thus fulfilling the pronouncement and
giving the pronouncement a prophetic power.

Romans 6:5-11 For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall
also be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order
that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin; for he who
has died is freed from sin. Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him,
knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, is never to die again; death no longer is master
over Him. For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to
God. Even so consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus.

P a g e | 84
b. It keeps you trying to “overcome” using discipline and the law

Granted, many who have followed this formula have succeeded in living “clean and sober” for an
extended period. So, to their credit, there is power in harsh discipline of the “flesh”.

Colossians 2:20-23 If you have died with Christ to the elementary principles of the world, why, as if you
were living in the world, do you submit to decrees, such as, "Do not handle, do not taste, do not touch!"
(which all refer to things destined to perish with use)- in accordance with the commandments and
teachings of men? These are matters which have, to be sure, the appearance of wisdom in self-made
religion and self-abasement and severe treatment of the body, but are of no value against fleshly
indulgence.

Discipline under the law can’t change your nature, it can only show you what’s wrong, condemn your
lack of change and invoke punishment on you for not changing. The fear of punishment can bring
temporary behavior modification, but only faith that you’ve become a new creation with the nature
of Christ will change your life.

Have you been pulled over by the police and received a ticket for speeding?
Many Christians have known the law and wanted to change.

Only a new creation person can overcome sin and the curse. Only a new creation can prosper in the
grace of God, bear lasting fruit and leave a legacy of Good.

Restored Life can be just another system of legalism and accountability if you do not develop the new
creation life within.

B. God’s method brings change

His method of change is to release His word over the problem or situation. He does not deny a
problem, but He is not bound to its current state. We are called to emulate our Father.

Romans 4:17b …God, who gives life to the dead and calls into being that which does not exist.

Genesis 1:1-3 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and void,
and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the
waters. Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light.

As a Son of God, I am now empowered to employ His power for change in my life.

C. Your confession determines the victory you will experience

Confession means “to speak”, but in the context of the Bible, it means to “say the same thing God is
saying” about YOURSELF, about LIFE, about each essential TREE of life, about your purpose, about His
promises, about relationships, about everything.

1. When you confess what God has said about you, you are releasing the seeds of God to grow

Seeds determine the future and control destiny.

Isaiah 55:11 “So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; it will not return to Me empty,
without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.”

Luke 8:11 "Now the parable is this: the seed is the word of God.”

2. Confessing the New Creation over your life releases creative and sustaining power

Hebrews 1:1-3 God, after He spoke long ago… whom also He made the world. And He is the radiance
of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power.

Each tree can be strengthened and fortified as you speak the Word of God over your circumstances.

3. Confession brings promises into manifestation

Romans 10:8-10 But what does it say? ‘THE WORD IS NEAR YOU, IN YOUR MOUTH AND IN YOUR
HEART’--that is, the word of faith which we are preaching, that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as
Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart
a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.

P a g e | 86
D. Keys to a confession that produces

1. Discover what God has said and what He is saying

Mark 11:22-24 And Jesus answered saying to them, "Have faith in God. Truly I say to you, whoever says
to this mountain, 'Be taken up and cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that
what he says is going to happen, it will be granted him. Therefore I say to you, all things for which you
pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you.”

2. Mix patience with your faith

Hebrews 6:12 …So that you will not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience
inherit the promises.

Luke 8:13 “Those on the rocky soil are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these
have no firm root; they believe for a while, and in time of temptation fall away.”

3. Hold on tight to your confession

Hebrews 3:6 …But Christ was faithful as a son over His house - whose house we are, if we hold fast our
confidence and the boast of our hope firm until the end.

STEP
PUT ON THE
10 NEW CREATION
STEP TEN: Put on the New Creation

A. Lifestyle changes start here

James 1:22-25 But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.
For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a
mirror; for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of
person he was. But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not
having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man will be blessed in what he does.

1. Each and every believer must clothe themselves with the new creation lifestyle

Now that you are seeing yourself in the identity of Christ and confessing the identity of Christ, you
must, in faith and by faith, clothe yourself with Christ… with his lifestyle and behavior.

Closing the gap on lifestyle is so important because Satan is lurking for a way back in. Your changes
will shut him out. Even so, it’s not always automatic because it is bringing your body into submission
to the renewed soul. The more renewed you become, the more you will bring your body into
submission to the New Creation nature.

Colossians 3:10-14 …And have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according
to the image of the One who created him --a renewal in which there is no distinction between Greek and
Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave and freeman, but Christ is all, and in all.
So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness,
humility, gentleness and patience; bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a
complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you. Beyond all these things put
on love, which is the perfect bond of unity.

P a g e | 89
Romans 13:12-14 The night is almost gone, and the day is near. Therefore let us lay aside the deeds of
darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us behave properly as in the day, not in carousing and
drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and sensuality, not in strife and jealousy. But put on the Lord
Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts.

2. The new identity means changing your habits

2 Corinthians 6:17 “Therefore, COME OUT FROM THEIR MIDST AND BE SEPARATE,” says the Lord. “And
DO NOT TOUCH WHAT IS UNCLEAN; And I will welcome you.”

James 4:4b …Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

When we have a lifestyle, we will have our whole life built around that lifestyle. Now that we are
dead to that lifestyle, we need to put on the new creation lifestyle.

a. Attire that creates identity:

The “biker” culture and its clothing.
The body building culture.
The neo-nazi culture.
The goth culture.
The drug culture.

b. Activities related to that identity:

c. Gathering places that function like substitute for church. Bars, night-clubs, casinos, and such:

P a g e | 90
d. Speech and certain language related to the identity:

e. Food related to the identity:

f. Music related to the identity:

g. Entertainment related to the identity:

h. Friends related to the identity:

P a g e | 91
3. Spirits correlating with sin, bondage and addiction lead people back into old habits

1 Corinthians 15:33 Do not be deceived: "Bad company corrupts good morals."

If you are being led into thoughts and behaviors that pertain to or lead to the very thing you are
trying to conquer, there probably is a spirit at work. It’s time for you to rebel.

● Fear might lead you to the news and the newspaper, the stock market or calamity. What might it
lead you back into? _______________________________________________________________

● Immorality might lead you to certain clothing stores or certain areas of town. Do you need to avoid
certain places or areas of town?_______________________________________________________

● Rejection might lead you to certain foods, shows, music, entertainment, bars and friends. Is there an
emotion that would lead you to certain comforts?_________________________________________

● Where might discouragement lead you?_________________________________________________

● Where might rebellion lead you?_______________________________________________________

● Are there other addictions that tend to seduce you back?___________________________________

Restored Life homework – Put on the new creation:

Consider the sin, bondage, addiction, or dysfunction you are overcoming. make a list of the various
habitual expressions that are related to each one you are conquering. These will be habits and
expressions you need to abandon. Further, make a list of the ways you will replace the old with a
new set of habits. You might need extra paper to complete this list, but you’ll find it rewarding.

P a g e | 92
STEP
PURSUE CONSISTENT
11 COACHING
STEP ELEVEN: Pursue Consistent Coaching

A. God builds us progressively through relationships

1. He builds you through revelation from the person of the Holy Spirit

John 14:16-17 "I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you
forever; that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know
Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you.”

2. He builds you through leaders appointed by Jesus to equip the church

Ephesians 4:11-14 And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and
some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up
of the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God,
to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ. As a result, we
are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine,
by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming…

3. He builds you through relationships with others in the body of Christ

2 Timothy 2:2 The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust
these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.

· Abraham was coached/mentored by · Elisha was coached by Elijah.

Melchizedek. · Jesus submitted to John the Baptist.
· Samuel was coached by Eli. · The twelve were coached by Jesus.
· Saul was coached by Samuel. · The eleven submitted to James.
· Jonathan was coached by David. · Paul submitted to the twelve.

P a g e | 93
B. Every person needs coaching that comes through mentor relationships

Matthew 13:20-21 “The one on whom seed was sown on the rocky places, this is the man who hears
the word and immediately receives it with joy; yet he has no firm root in himself, but is only temporary,
and when affliction or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he falls away.”

C. Excuses that keep you from submitting to coaching

1. We fear we’ll be judged rather than receive mercy.

2. Our flesh repels spiritual accountability, it points out the flaws in others as justification.
3. Rebellion and control; not trusting anyone, demanding to be our own boss.
4. Pride; not wanting anyone to know that we’re falling short.
5. Denial; the problems we have are not our fault.
6. Lacking time; it takes too much time to have close relationships.

D. Coaching means becoming accountable

Accountability means to give an explanation or answer concerning one’s conduct; to be responsible,

answerable. To be submitted to a coach, trainer, teacher, overseer or parent for the sake of growth,
development or productivity. This is a submissive relationship.

Disciples do this: Coaches do this:

Learn Teach, train
Apply Correct, reprove, praise and affirm
Faithfully produce fruit Exhort, encourage, co-labor, model and
provoke

Proverbs 18:1 He who separates himself seeks his own desire, he quarrels against all sound wisdom.

P a g e | 94
E. Benefits of coaching and accountability

Now let's look at the benefits of accountability and building strong relationships. Herein you'll
recognize some of the things that are already taking place in your life. Strong friends draw out the
best in you.

Proverbs 27:6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend, but deceitful are the kisses of an enemy.

Proverbs 12:15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but a wise man is he who listens to counsel.

Proverbs 27:17 Iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.

Who is a friend that can openly rebuke you without you becoming immediately defensive or
offended? Make a list of the people who you often allow and welcome to speak into your life. If you
don't have such a friend, then make a list of those with whom you might begin to cultivate such a
relationship.

Name Relationship

Restored Life Homework: Pursue Coaching Relationships

For your exercise in accountability, refer back to the renewing lesson, the confession lesson and the
putting on the new creation lesson. Bring your mentor into the work you’ve done in these chapters
and share your changes and goals. Photo copy or share your pages with them briefly and allow them
to encourage you with feedback.

P a g e | 95
F. How to walk in coaching accountability

1. Make a list of things that have kept you from a relationship like this in the past and share how
you are going to overcome those hindrances.

2. Select a coach/mentor relationship. You might ask someone to serve as a coach or ask your
Restored Life team to provide one if available.

3. Ask if they will follow up with you for 90 days during your Restored Life ministry appointments.

4. Ask if you can reach out and call weekly. Find out when the best time is to call, and respect those
time frames. Ideally, call two times each week. Do not wait for them to call you. Do not be dismayed
if they don’t call you. Call and let them know of your progress in the Lord. Share what you are
overcoming and the principles you are learning. Be quick to listen, slow to speak. Have an inquiring
heart; be eager to learn and receive and to gain understanding.

5. Write a personal mission statement and share it with them for critique and encouragement.

6. Give them a status report on the progress of your homework assignments (be sure you
understand the assignments yourself). Get clarity if you need to.

7. Ask for help in finding and understanding renewing the mind scriptures. Discuss the illumination
you are receiving from scriptures.

8. Get help with homework, listen to them and ask questions. Get lots of feedback and ask them to
pray with you.

9. Be totally transparent about everything. Keeping things hidden will just prevent you from getting
totally free.

10. Call them immediately if you are having a crisis, temptation or relapse of any kind.

11. Discuss your progress regarding your trees of life and your goals over each one.

12. Set a goal to memorize certain scriptures each week. Report on that progress.

P a g e | 96
STEP
RESTORE ONE
12 ANOTHER
STEP TWELVE: Restore One Another

A You are called and empowered to restore others

Isaiah 58:6-9a "Is this not the fast which I choose, to loosen the bonds of wickedness, To undo the bands
of the yoke, And to let the oppressed go free, And break every yoke? Is it not to divide your bread with
the hungry and bring the homeless poor into the house; When you see the naked, to cover him; And not
to hide yourself from your own flesh? Then your light will break out like the dawn, and your recovery will
speedily spring forth; And your righteousness will go before you; The glory of the LORD will be your rear
guard. Then you will call, and the LORD will answer…”

1. Restoring people is our greatest expression

Galatians 6:1-3 Brethren, even if anyone is caught in any trespass, you who are spiritual, restore such
a one in a spirit of gentleness; each one looking to yourself, so that you too will not be tempted. Bear
one another's burdens, and thereby fulfill the law of Christ. For if anyone thinks he is something when
he is nothing, he deceives himself.

Many Christians gravitate to serving that is task oriented, i.e., folding bulletins, cleaning the grounds,
stacking chairs, serving at the work party, driving a van for youth group.

2. We prove our love for the Lord when we partner with Him

John 21:17 He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me?” Peter was grieved
because He said to him the third time, “Do you love Me?” And he said to Him, “Lord, you know all
things; You know that I love You.” Jesus said to him, “Tend My sheep.”

P a g e | 97
B. Restoration is a key to personal victory

1. Selfish living hinders the blessing intended for us

Philippians 2:3-9 Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one
another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but
also for the interests of others. Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who,
although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but
emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men.
Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death,
even death on a cross. For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name
which is above every name…

2. Responsibility is a key to personal growth

Galatians 6:2 Bear one another's burdens, and thereby fulfill the law of Christ.

C. Proper actions in restoring people

1. With humility

Galatians 6:1-3 Brethren, even if anyone is caught in any trespass, you who are spiritual, restore such a
one in a spirit of gentleness; each one looking to yourself, so that you too will not be tempted. Bear
one another's burdens, and thereby fulfill the law of Christ. For if anyone thinks he is something when
he is nothing, he deceives himself.

2. With confidentiality

Proverbs 17:9 He who conceals a transgression seeks love, but he who repeats a matter separates
intimate friends.

Don’t uncover people to others. Choose the higher road of covering over their past faults and sins.
Treat them just like you would have wanted to be treated when you were ministered to. Preserve
the dignity of people and allow them to change with little baggage. We want people to be restored
and not hindered.

P a g e | 98
2 Corinthians 5:16 Therefore from now on we recognize no one according to the flesh; even though we
have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him in this way no longer.

3. With faithfulness, longsuffering and all diligence

Make your commitment known to a person in the beginning of ministry and fulfill your commitment.

1 Corinthians 13:7-8a (Love)…bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Love never fails…

Restored Life homework - Restore one another

Consider your schedule and how much time you could spend engaged in restoring others. Are you
giving of yourself to anyone now, to mentor, encourage or coach in the new creation? Are you
maxed out? If not, name a few people you could offer yourself to.

2 Kings 4:4 “And you shall go in and shut the door behind you and your sons, and pour out into all
these vessels, and you shall set aside what is full.”

PRAYER OF RELEASE GUIDE

Complete a historical autobiography to assess the debts that are owed to you throughout a
lifetime of hurts and disappointments. Fill it out in chronological order. Ask the Holy Spirit to
show you things that might be hidden or “stuffed.” Write down everything even if you feel you
have forgiven in the past.

Acknowledge the issue/loss: “Father, I bring before you…”

● The abuses of my mother and/or father.

● The divorce of my parents.
● The incest and molestation from a family member.
● My parents giving me up for adoption.
● The extra marital affair of my spouse or significant other.
● The mental, physical, or emotional abuse of my spouse or significant other.

Rehearse and recount the pain: “Father, I bring up to you…”

● The disappointment.
● The sorrow it has caused.
● The loss of our relationship.
● The financial losses.
● The way it has affected our relationship.

Release all that they owe you, relative to the loss, pain: “Father, I choose now…”

● To forgive them for all that they owe me.

● To forgive them for all the pain they have inflicted.
● To forgive them for all that I have recounted to you, all the pain and injury.
● To show them mercy; I will no longer hold it over them. I completely forgive them.

Invite the healing works of Jesus into the situation: “Father I ask you by the power of Jesus…”

● To show me Satan’s role in this hurt and/or loss.

● To reveal your love to me and show me what your will in for this situation.
● To heal my heart from the wounds of this situation.
● To rescue me now and to heal my emotions and renew my mind.
● To remove the emotional scar tissue from this hurt.
● To take care of it, the burden of it, the anxiety, shame, and the weight that I have
carried all this time.

Repent for your wrong reactions to the sin, hurt, pain or loss against you: “Father I ask you to…”

● Forgive me for not seeking your love and believing fully in your love for me. I realize you
have not been against me but for me all along. Forgive me for blaming you for the evil
that Satan brought into my life.
● Forgive me for trying to get even and overcome this on my own. I realize I need you and
I need to overcome evil in your way. So forgive my hatred, my anger, my bitterness, ect.
● Forgive me for trying to stuff this and forget about it when overeating, drinking,
pornography (whatever earthly, natural way you tried to use to forget about this hurt,
pain or loss.)
● I give these specific wrong reactions and responses to you and ask you to take them
from me. I will not turn to them again. I refuse them and cast them out of my life.

God give your vengeance and ask for Him to work restoration in your life:

● Father, I turn this case over to you. I ask you to defend my case. I ask you to work
vengeance for me the way you best see fit. I renounce the taking up of my own
vengeance on those who have hurt me. I will love people and hate the devil. I will
overcome evil with good. I will trust you to be my attorney, my defense, my shield, my
help, and my reward. Give me your grace to love the unworthy as you have done with
me.
● Father, I ask you to restore me according to your tender mercy. I ask you to bring back
into my life a sevenfold return on what has been stolen from me according to Proverbs
6:31. Work your vengeance especially on Satan and his kingdom, punish him and cause
him to give back what he has stolen.
● Father, I ask you to restore even the things lost from my own sins. I repent and fall upon
your tender mercy. Have mercy upon me and show me your favor.
● Father, I ask you to chase my perpetrators with the Gospel. Put roadblocks in front of
them and lead them to Jesus. Send your Holy Spirit to convict them and bring them to
the saving knowledge of Jesus. Help them repent and pour out your mercy upon them.
