Write a brief character sketch of Kalam's
parents.

The father of Abdul Kalam is Jainulabiddin
Marakayar and mother is Ashiamma
Jainulabiddin. They both were generous
and kind.
Dr Kalam's father was tolerant towards
other religions. He was an honest person.
He maintained cordial relationships with
Hindu school teachers and religious
leaders in Rameswaram. He was tall and
good looking. He was not very wealthy or
formally educated. He possessed great
natural wisdom and a kind and generous
spirit. He was an honest and self-
disciplined individual.
Whereas kalam‘s mother was gentle. She
was also a kind hearted lady. She even
used to feed a lot of outsiders every day.
She also believed in goodness and
kindness. Abdul Kalam has described his
mother as an ideal wife.
On the basis of occupation Abdul Kalam’s
father was a boat owner and an imam of a
local mosq whereas his mother was a
housewife.
