KORAPANI IRRIGATION PROJECT

The proposed Karapani Irrigation Project is located near village Barghat in Bonai sub-
division/Lahunipada Block of Sundargarh District. It envisages construction of an earth dam across the
Karapani Nallah, a left tributary of River Brahmani. The catchment area at the proposed site is 121 sqkm
lies entirely in the state of Odisha.

 Status of Project Report:- DPR is found to be in order vide CWC lr. no.343 dtd. 10.05.2013.

Status of Statutory Clearances:

Technical Clearance from CWC(MoWR)/State TAC-

Forest Clearance- Stage-I Forest Clearance for 113.075 Ha. has been obtained by MoEF & CC
dated 15th December 2021. Cost for NPV & CATP has been deposited to Forest Deptt.
Permission has been obtained for additional item i.e. site-specific wildlife conservation plan from
DoWR during July 2022.
Environmental Clearance- Conditional Environmental Clearance obtained from SEIAA vide lr.
no. 119 dtd. 21.04.2016 subject to submission of copy of stage-I forest clearance.
R&R Clearance-R&R plan has been submitted to ST & SC Dev., Deptt., GoO by DoWR for
onward transmission to MoTA, GoI.
