It is all about getting a home!


You will learn: What sort of rental places are available. How to get a place to rent. Bonds. What they are. Who can help? Budgeting. Leases. What they mean for you and the landlord. How to approach Real Estate agents so you have the best chance of success. Self esteem and how to feel confident. Your rights as a tenant. Your responsibilities as a tenant. How to complete all the forms that go with a tenancy and why they are important. Pitfalls and problems of renting and how to avoid them.

There will be time for you to ask questions. There will be lots of help if your reading and writing is not too good.

Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:00am to 1:00pm 24 & 26 October 31 October & 2 November 7 & 9 November at TAFE NSW-New England Institute Armidale Campus, Beardy Street

TAFE NSW Fee Information: 1) A TAFE year consists of two 18-week long semesters. The minimum charge for a program is one semester, even if your program lasts less than 18 weeks. If the program lasts between 18 weeks to a year, it counts as two semesters. 2) If your program runs for more than one semester, you may pay in two half-yearly payments. 3) All fees must be paid up front at enrolment. NO CASH is accepted - you may pay by EFTPOS, Visa card, MasterCard, cheque or money order. 4) If you receive a government benefit such as Youth Allowance, Austudy, or Newstart and provide documentary proof at enrolment, you may be eligible to pay a concession fee of $52 per course enrolment, rather than the full TAFE NSW Fee. 5) In addition to the TAFE NSW fee, some programs have Course Related Charges associated with them. Course Related Charges are collected to provide you with materials, resources, equipment and services to use in your program of study. If your circumstances do not enable you to pay this charge you will need to speak with your teacher when you commence class to negotiate alternative arrangements. 6) Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students are exempt from paying the TAFE NSW Fee. 7) Disability Support Pension students and students with a disability receive a full fee exemption for one TAFE NSW course per year and are eligible for the $52 concession charge for subsequent enrolments in that year. All TAFE NSW courses run only if there are sufficient resources and demand. HOW TO ENROL: Enrolments for this course will be on 24 October 2011 at ArmidaleCampus. ASSISTANCE: All students are eligible for the full range of services as outlined in the TAFE NSW Student Handbook. RECOGNITION: Recognition may allow you to complete your qualification faster. TAFE NSW recognises the skills and knowledge that you may have gained through previous studies, the workplace and life experiences. You may be entitled to gain recognition that will exempt you from attending one or more units. It is possible to obtain recognition for up to 100% of the requirements for a course award.
