Part A: Written Report 1.

The target market is foreign families in Wentworthville and in the surrounding area, Merrylands, Greystanes, Guildford and Westmead. From the demographics (below), it shows that there are 2,694 families in Wentworthville alone and 23,632 families in the Holroyd area. There more than 50% of people who live in Wentworthville, born overseas. Majority of these people are Indians. Wentworthville Shopping Plaza is located on the Great Western Highway. It is a road hundreds of motorists use every day. The target market includes those who use the highway every day to get to work, school or leisure as they would find it very convenient, save petrol and travel time. The ads for Wentworthville Shopping Plaza should appeal more to the foreign families in the Holroyd area.

Seeing the slogan, the word 'Relax will appeal to them as they are over worked and busy from taking care of their children's needs. Wentworthville Plaza can provide them with a location for their grocery shopping which is near their kid's schools. It will be a convenient shopping plaza where they can drop off their kids, buy groceries and be back in time to collect the kids from school. 'Eat' can also appeal to them. They can relax, shop and get their kids a meal without the hassle of cooking and being pressed for time. From the demographic research it shows the average age in Wentworthville is 32. The images on the advertisement show two ladies in their thirties, laughing, having fun shopping, not pressed for time. It will make the audience feel like they could be like the women on the ad. It will let them feel like they could go and have fun, take time to relax at this shopping plaza. 3. The target market are Foreign families in Wentworthville, surrounding areas. The Sun reaches over 28 suburbs in the Holroyd and Parramatta area which a readership of 78,000 readers. This means a mass of people will be exposed to the advertisement. This will be very effective as Wentworthville Shopping Plaza is in the Holroyd area, it will attract many people to come and shop. The people who see the ad in this newspaper are more likely to go to Wentworthville Shopping Plaza as it is close to their residence. The target market is foreign families in Wentworthville, surrounding areas. Many families will like to know what is happening within their local area. They are constantly looking for activities and events to keep their children's time preoccupied and arrange time to relax. The Sun is an excellent source of help to local residents, for them to get to know what is happening in their community. It will be very effective as they will see the ad whilst they are reading the newspaper of just flicking through. The bad point about putting the ad in the newspaper is that the target market is 'foreign families'. Most families would not have the time in their busy schedules between looking after the kids, work and themselves. The newspaper contains many articles and other ad which may cause readers to lose interest before they see the ad. They may also skip the ad as most people would not read most advertisements, ignore them and read just the articles or read what they are looking for in the paper. As the target market is 'foreign families', many may not be able to read the newspaper as the literature in the paper can be hard to understand. This could mean that most of the target market will not see the ad for Wentworthville Shopping Plaza because the medium used is not what they are most comfortable reading. They may also see the ad but have difficulty reading and understanding the text on the advertisement.
