BEST PRACTICE 1

Title: Community Service / Outreach Activities through Rotaract Club of Bharat College
(RCBC)

Introduction:

The college has formed Rotaract Club, associated with Rotary Club of Badlapur MIDC area.

Under Rotaract club, students exchange ideas with leaders in the community, develop leadership
and professional skills, and have learning through service. In community, student members of the
club along with regular studies, they also actively participate by providing services to community
making them a responsible citizen.

The Goal:

Through the activities of RCBC, students identify their area of interest, enhance the knowledge
and skills, develop leadership qualities to address the physical and social needs of their
communities, and to promote better relations between all people through a framework of
friendship.

The Context:

Technology rules the young mind and media takes over the thinking process of students. They
have lost affection, love and care towards society and environment. In order to make them
socially responsible and caring, it was decided to have an interaction with community at large
through various activities. The result was - A series of activities under RCBC.

The Practice:

During the year 2018-19 a community outreach programme was chalked out and under the
guidance of Parent body, Rotary club of MIDC Industrial Area, Badlapur, Incharge Principal Ms.
Neetu Kapoor and RCBC Club Advisor Ms. Pooja Oak. Regular meeting are conducted to decide
various activities. Following main community based activities were conducted.

Evidence of Success: The college continuously received appreciation from rotary club and also
received Rotary Citation Award from Rotary International for Best Community Projects for
conducting social activities in well organised manner.

Problems faced: Registration and continuous coordination, in addition to regular activities of the
college was a challenge. But continuous meetings by Incharge Principal and RCBC Club
Advisor kept on motivating the students and now this club has taken shape of student oriented
activity.

BEST PRACTICE 2

ANNUAL INTERDEPARTMENTAL INTERDISCIPLINARY SEMINAR

Introduction:

This is a unique practice of the college to organise an interdepartmental seminar every year
where the faculty members present paper on the topic of their own choice either related to their
subject or may be of any Other area or subject. This is generally held in the month of March. In
2018-19 it was organised on 20th April 2019 under the Title of Evolve 2019.
The Goal:

The purpose of conducting such a seminar is a full day sharing of knowledge on variety of topics
from different areas. This enables the faculty members form different streams to equip and
update themselves with latest developments and knowledge in different areas such as computers,
IT, commerce, management etc.

One of the ancillary objective of this seminar is to give platform to new faculty members to
prepare and present a research paper in their own college first so as to learn and gain confidence
to participate at national and International

Conferences.

The Context:

As research is one of the important aspects at UG and PG level, teachers are expected to
undertake research through Major and Minor Research Projects, Academic writing. This seminar
provides them with the platform to develop their research skills and improve their academic
writing.

The Practice:

Seminar is conducted at the end of Academic Year. Teaching staff members are informed to
select a topic of their own choice which is later approved by organising committee. Changes in
Title or topic are made if needed. The Researchers have been given time of one month to prepare
paper. They have to submit abstract of the paper fifteen days prior to the date of seminar.
Seminar has two sessions pre-lunch and post lunch session. The best presenter is awarded with
Best Paper Presenter award.

Evidence of Success:

Teaching staff members take this opportunity to improve their research skills which can be seen
through the list of paper presenters which is as follows.

Problems faced :

It is difficult to conduct such activities due to tight Academic Schedule of the college and
University.
