Bridge India

- Bridge India is a progressive society dedicated to the discourse of public policy focussing
on India. The society will seek to highlight the diversity of perspectives in policy-making
in both domestic and foreign spheres and explore how the synergy of the two affects
relations with other countries. (we are also affiliated with an Indian think-tank based in
london)

3 Activities we aim to do
1. Activity 1: To host debates for those interested in Indian public policy and seek what they can
do while living abroad to help in initiatives to improve society within India. This will include
weekly meetings discussing policies (foreign and domestic) through a range of games and
debates. This is important to have, as the real-world application of theory in the form of
games, moderated debates and discussions help in developing public policy in the real
world. Politics is about implementation and action rather than just learning from books.

2. Activity 2: To host programmes with academics, government and non-government officials

working/residing or visiting England with a focus on public policy and formulating key
connections. As we are affiliated with a think-tank (Bridge India), the mass connections open
a range of possibilities. Bridge India’s previous engagements with head journalists, members
of high positions in the private sector, and British and Indian government officials will allow
students to gain primary knowledge about the rise of India and their role in influencing global
politics.

3. Activity 3: Literary work. Bridge India hosts a newsletter, which engages with the public
regarding domestic and foreign policy. Through using these resources of the affiliated
think-tank’s successful weekly newsletters, we can help produce our own KCL literary
research work (weekly newsletter), which could benefit the Indian institution at KCL and
other academic actors in engaging with relevant content.

Past Events Held

- Bridge India has previously held conferences with Keir Starmer alongside hosting 2
large-scale events featuring 500+ influential people from both the private and public
spheres to discuss the public policy engagement of India.

Kindly find below the attached two links to the largest two Indian conferences held in london
which united the Indian diaspora and others from the private and public sectors to connect and
encourage dialogue for measures which can hold a positive impact on future populations.
Connections and networks will provide greater opportunities for students to engage with India.
This is further strengthened through bridge-india’s successful weekly journal which highlights
policy-making decisions and holds events to discuss movements and actions which the youth
can do to make a difference. This distinguishes our society as we provide dedicated research
and analysis of India’s foreign relations.
