Introduction
The Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Lab at MUST is a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to supporting the
education and research needs of our students and faculty. This report provides an overview of the CAD
Lab's facilities, equipment, and services. At CAD lab, students get professional training on 2D & 3D
drafting of mechanical engineering drawings using the latest version of AutoCAD software. Students
learn computer aided design layout and 3D solid modelling definition. The use of CAD process provides
enhanced graphics capabilities which allows students to conceptualize their ideas, modify the design
very easily, perform animation and make design calculations.

Location and Accessibility

The CAD Lab is conveniently located in Mechanical Engineering department in the city campus.
It is easily accessible to students, faculty, and staff, ensuring that it serves as a central hub for
computer-aided design activities. It is operated under the supervision of two lab assistants who
always guide students and faculty about software usage.
Infrastructure and Hardware
Computers: The CAD Lab is equipped with 25 high-performance computers, each featuring
powerful processors, ample RAM, and dedicated graphics cards. These computers are optimized
for CAD software applications such as AUTOCAD and Solid works etc.
Software: The lab provides access to a comprehensive suite of CAD software packages,
including industry-standard tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, ANSYS, and more. Students
and researchers can work with the latest software versions to enhance their design capabilities.
Students can easily get grip on these software by consuming their time in CAD lab under the
guidance of lab technician.
Networking and Connectivity
The CAD Lab is connected to a high-speed internet connection, ensuring seamless access to
online resources, research databases, and cloud-based collaboration tools. By using this internet
students can get any online software if needed. The internet provides access to online resources,
including research materials, tutorials and design libraries. Many CAD software packages
require online connectivity to receive software updates and license verification. High speed
internet ensures that all software are up to date. The internet offers a vast variety of CAD
tutorials, video guides, and educational content. CAD lab users can access these resources to
enhance their skills and troubleshoot issues with CAD software or hardware.
Display and Projection

The lab features large, high-resolution displays with the help of one projector, making it suitable
for group presentations, design reviews, and collaborative work. This enhances the overall
learning and teaching experience.
Technical Support and Training
The CAD Lab is staffed with knowledgeable technicians who provide technical assistance and
guidance to students and other users. Regular training sessions and workshops are conducted to
help students and faculty maximize their proficiency in CAD software and hardware.
Security and Safety
The lab adheres to strict security protocols to safeguard both physical equipment and intellectual
property. Access control systems and surveillance are in place to ensure a secure environment for
users. It is ensure that all CAD software is properly licensed to prevent legal issues and
unauthorized usage. Department uses security cameras and alarms to monitor the lab's physical
space and deter theft. Lab technicians keep software, operating systems, and security patches up
to date to address vulnerabilities.
Future Developments
MUST is committed to keeping the CAD Lab up-to-date with the latest advancements in CAD
technology. Plans for future developments may include expanding the lab's capacity, adding new
software tools, and upgrading hardware as needed. Continued advancements in 3D modeling
software will make it easier to create highly detailed and realistic designs. AI will play a
significant role in CAD labs, suggesting design improvements, and even generating designs
based on input parameters.
Conclusion
The CAD Lab at MUST offers a comprehensive and well-equipped facility for students and
faculty to explore, learn, and innovate in the field of computer-aided design. Its accessibility,
technical support, and commitment to staying current with industry trends make it a valuable
resource for all CAD-related activities within the university community.
