Frequently Asked Questions on Multifoam Polyurethane Foam

1. Why should we allow a minimum gap of 15 mm. along the perimeter of a

window/door frame,façade and not less?
The gap of 15 mm.all along the perimeter allows the Multifoam to spread smoothly
through the surface of the wall, provides sufficient space for Multifoam to expand. The
amount of Multifoam in above gap is sufficient to provide the required strength and
binding force between the wall and the window/door frame,façade.

2. What material should we use to cover Multifoam after application to

protect it from U.V. Rays?

Multifoam can be covered with plaster, plaster of Paris, polysulphide (in case of
expansion joints) or acrylic elastomeric paints on exterior to protect it from direct
U.V.Rays. In some cases where finishing is not very important, paint can be applied
directly.

4. How cost effective is Multifoam compared to any other materials used

in similar kind of applications?

750 ml. dispenser gives coverage of up to 55 liters = 50000 cc., with Pageris dispenser
considering 10% handling loss than coverage is = 45000 cc.,

5. On which surfaces can Multifoam be applied?

Multifoam can be applied on various surfaces such as wood, metal, concrete, brick,
plaster, (except polyethylene, polypropylene, silicone and Teflon, oil, grease and similar
substrates.)

6. What if the cured Multifoam is left uncovered?

As Multifoam is not Ultra Violet Resistant, the color of uncovered Multifoam will turn to
dark yellow from light yellow within a few days. In the long run the foam will
disintegrate.

7. Can Multifoam be used for waterproofing?

Multifoam has a closed cell structure, which gives complete water protection however it
cannot be used for waterproofing, especially where the hydrostatic pressure is very
high.

8. Can Multifoam be used to fill wall cracks?

Multifoam may also be used to fill small cracks. For this purpose it is necessary to use
the reduction needles.

9. Can Multifoam be used for expansion joints? If yes, than what should be
used to cover Multifoam?
Multifoam can be used as a backup material in expansion joints and can be covered
with Polysulfide sealant.

10. Is Multifoam fireproof?

Multifoam is self-extinguishing material i.e. it will not propagate fire. Multifoam is fire
classified as E according EN 13501-1,German building standard B2 DIN 4102 of the high
standard of the German Building Industry.

11. Is Multifoam toxic? Stability time?

Multifoam is non-toxic as well as CFC free. Tack free after approx.10 min. can be cut
after approx.22 min. Cured within 2 hours. Stable within 4 to 6 hours.

12. Is any training required for the application of Multifoam?

Application of Multifoam is very easy and does not require any special skill. However for
the first time users training is recommended. Training will be given by video
presentation, the sales staff.

13. What precautions should be taken while applying Multifoam?

A. Contact with foam should be avoided from body parts and clothes. In case the foam
sticks to any part of the body or clothes, wash the affected area with Multifoam Clean
5141 immediately.
B. The nozzle should be kept away from the body while applying.
C. The can should be kept in the Inverted position while applying.
D. Cured foam has to be removed mechanically

14. What is the purpose of MULTIFOAM CLEAN 5141? Can any other
material be used?
MULTIFOAM CLEAN 5141 is used to clean the dispenser gun and the needles. It
can be mounted on the dispenser gun, thus cleaning the dispenser gun more effectively.
By using any other material the chances of damaging the gun increase.

15. How easily can a window /door frame mounted with Multifoam be
removed?
Window and door frames mounted with Multifoam can be removed by slicing through the
foam, but removal of the window by force is near to impossible.

16. Is any different color or packing of Multifoam available?

Multifoam comes in only one color i.e. light yellow. The cured foam can be painted
according to customers need. There is only one type of packaging 750ml. dispenser can
(Used with gun/plastic adaptor)

17. What Guarantee/Warranty is provided for the dispenser gun?

No written form of Guarantee/Warranty is provided for the guns since the condition of
uses are beyond the company’s control. The gun must be handled with care. Proper
cleaning of the gun is required immediately after removing the foam can from the
dispenser immediately unless it is loaded with another Multifoam can immediately.
Please follow the operating instructions given in the product manual.

18. What are the various strengths of Multifoam product AFTER 24 Hrs.?

Tensile strength: 10+/-2N/square Cm. Compression strength:7+/_2 N/square cm. &

Shear strength: 5+/-2 N/square cm.
