Particular Specification for the MEP Services Hanging under the Composite

Slab

1. A Composite Slab will be adopted for the building structure outside the
structure core from the ground floor to the roof floor. Forming holes in the
composite slab shall be prohibited unless prior approval (in writing) from the
Engineer for each specific case. Hence, post-drilled anchor bolts are not
appropriate for hanging MEP services at composite deck locations. Where
composite slab structure, the 'Bon-nut' or 'equivalent approved' shall be used.

2. The ‘Bon-nut’ is a proprietary wedge-nut that engages within the dovetail

profile of the composite deck soffit. The accompanying threaded rod is
generic and refers to separate specification requirements. The technical
information of 'Bon-nut' is attached for reference. The Sub-Contractor shall
submit, but not limited to, the following information for the Architect’s
approval.

i. Installation Details
ii. Load Calculation
iii. Test Certificates

3. The Sub-Contractor shall be responsible to ensure the entire assembly of

proprietary ‘Bon-nut’ and generic threaded rod to comply with the technical
requirements as specified in various sections of this specification. In case of
contradiction between the 'Bon-nut' and the specified technical requirements,
the Sub-Contractor shall be responsible to submit alternative proposal to
fulfill the specification for the Architect's approval.

4. As requested by the Architects, the Sub-Contractor shall include all the cost
for the load test by an independent laboratory witnessed by a Registered
Professional Engineer in relevant disciplines. The test report shall be
submitted for the Architect's approval.

5. 'Bon-nut' and threaded rod assembly shall be of an adequate strength to resist

the maximum load, and their designs and positions shall be agreed with the
Architects before installation commences.
