INTRODUCTION:

An invitation is a request, a solicitation, or an attempt to get

another person to join at a specific event. When you ask people to attend
a party, visit your bench house, or witness your marriage, you invite them
using the verb and you’ve given them an invitation. An invitation can be
delivered as a verbal request, a beautifully engraved card, or even puffs
of smoke behind an airplane. It plays a vital role in our daily life. This
project deals with the types of invitation, origin of invitation, need of
invitations and format of invitations. Let's get to know more about
invitations through this project.
PROCEDURE:
In this project we will be dealing with the
information of various types of invitations. This project
talks about types of invitations, origin of invitation and
format of invitation.
OUTPUT:
This project will consist of information about
invitations and pictures relevant to it. Let’s dive into this
project to get to know more about the invitation.
INVITATION:
Invitation is a kind of personal notice sent individually to people.
It can be in the form of an invitation card, which is a formal way of
inviting people. It can be also in the form of a note or letter, which is an
informal way of inviting people. For instance, inviting relatives, friends,
colleagues, etc to attend some particular function or an occasion such as
engagement, marriage, birth, death or public function is an informal
invitation. It is an essential part of social etiquette. Informal invitations
are addressed in freehand to friends and relatives. They are addressed in
a fixed format to a person in a department having a designation with
proper salutations.
ORIGIN OF INVITATION:
Invitations to social events were said to be used by the aristocracy in
England and France probably beginning in the 18th century. The kings,
queens, lords, ladies, dukes and duchesses would invite their peers to their
social events with handwritten announcements of the event. These were
written by the wife, butler, or secretary. Writing was a mark of education.
Even after the printing press, the aristocracy hand wrote invitations since
“mass production” would be in bad taste. In old England, wedding
invitations were usually announced to the public by bidders, and anyone
within earshot became part of the celebration. In the 18 th century, people
began publishing wedding invitations in the newspaper, and in Wales,
bidding letters were sent to announce upcoming nuptials. Native Indians
summoned guests via smoke signals, sometimes accompanied by a birch
bark inscription. In the Middle Ages, nearly everyone was illiterate;
therefore, writing anything was considered laborious. The coat of arms, or
personal crest, was born out of the need to identify a person, as one’s
signature does today, and it was affixed to all objects and papers of import.
Today, the family crest is still the hallmark of class and individuality, and
often appears at the top of a formal wedding invitation.
PURPOSE OF INVITATIONS:
The rise of digital media often makes us believe that the
internet has taken over everything, and while that may be true, certain things
are more effective with a human touch. One such example is invitation cards.
Nothing seems more personal than a personalized card addressed with your
name on it. Although e-cards are inexpensive and easier to send, they are no
match for the feeling of happiness one experiences when they receive a card
in the mail just for them. An invitation card conveys the overall tone of the
event they are invited to. Moreover, when you receive a card for a birthday
party or wedding, the event automatically stands out from the rest of the
invitations you have received, making it more important than the rest.
Invitation cards are more tailored to the individual you are sending them to,
and they also contain important information such as the address of the event,
the timings, dress code, etc. For an event to run smoothly, it’s crucial for the
guests to know all the details, and real-life invitations can do this job better
than online invites and texts. Online invites can easily get lost in your list of
emails and files, and the same goes for text messages. The best thing about
a physical invite is that you are bound and keep it somewhere in view once
you receive it. That increases the chances of all your guests arriving at the
event. Additionally, many people like to hold on to the invitations as a
keepsake, and an attractive invitation card is hard to forget.
