Proposal for Competitions to be conducted as part of the Department Fest

1. COVER QUEST - POSTER MAKING COMPETITION

Participants will be given the name of a book at the beginning of the event, they are
required to design a new cover for it. Plagiarism will not be tolerated. Points will be
awarded for overall creativity and originality, visual elements, layout and innovation,
adherence to the plot, and, time.

Objective
● Inspires contestants to find confidence in their artistic vision
● Fosters creativity
● Allows contestants to express unique individual perspectives.
● Create a visual impact

2. CURSE OF THE PYRAMIDS - TREASURE HUNT

Participants are grouped into 4 and given clues in the form of riddles and verses which
can be taken from literary texts or composed by the event coordinators. In this themed
event, participants are in a hypothetical scenario where they accidentally resurrect the
mummy and have 5 hours before they face the wrath of the great Egyptian gods. In this
treasure hunt contestants set out to find the “magical” artifact to reverse the resurrection.

Objective
● Promotes literary knowledge in participants
● Encourages critical thinking and quick decision-making skills.
● Nurtures teamwork in young minds.
● The game challenges participants to think creatively and interpret riddles/verses
in an unique way.

3. STORYTELLER’S SPOTLIGHT - BOOK PITCHING

This game is preferably conducted online and on one of the countdown days of the fest.
Participants are allotted a time limit of a maximum of 3 minutes to present their book
pitch. Contestants need to come up with arguments defending the book they are
allocated to present. The winner will be decided by the number of likes/shares. Cash
Prize can be awarded

Objective
● Enhances oratory skills of an individual
● Captivates the audience while delivering valuable unique literary perceptions.
● Encourages the audience to explore new genres and authors.
● Ignites the intellectual curiosity and literary voices in the audience.

4. WIT WHIZ CHALLENGE - LAST MAN STANDING

This intellectual marathon consists of three elimination rounds with increasing difficulty.

ROUND ALPHA ‘QUESTIONNAIRE’

In this round, participants will be asked a few questions and will be judged based on the
humour and originality of the answer.

ROUND BETA ‘LIFEJACKET’

Contestants are given a hypothetical scenario where they are stuck on an island with
famous literary personalities/ celebrities. There’s a one-man boat left on the island and
the participants have to convince the judges why they deserve the boat over all the other
famous personalities on the island.

ROUND GAMMA ‘RACE AGAINST CLOCK’

In this time-sensitive round, Participants are given the same situation but placed in
different squares, each being specified with a different emotion, after a while they would
be shifted clockwise to act out another emotion while the situation remains the same.
Contestants are judged based on improv skills, wit, humour and consistency.

The last one standing is the winner.

● Elimination rounds increase the competition intensity.
● The three rounds can identify the best performer and encourage sportsman spirit.
● Challenges with varying judging criteria encourage dramatic moments.
● Stimulates strategic thinking in participants as they navigate the different rounds.
● Highlights standout performers and builds climax while the game reaches the
final round.
