What is World Ramayana Championship?
The World Ramayana Championship is the most prestigious annual
international contest based on the popular Indian epic Valmiki Ramayana
conducted by Ayodhay Foundation, Bengaluru, India. The contest is held
in the month of November every year and the champions are selected at
the national and international level. Selected champions get cash prizes
and a free family trip to Ayodhya, the birthplace of Shri Rama.
The online contest would contain objective-type questions related to
Srimad Valmiki Ramayana. The reference book is Ayodhya Illustrated
Ramayana, which is available in 4 languages: English, Hindi,
Samskrutam and Kannada. The contest too is available in
these four languages.
What is Ayodhya
Illustrated Ramayana?
Ayodhya Illustrated Ramayana (AIR) is an
attempt to present the complete Ramayana in
a total of 125 illustrations. Each page in the
work has an illustration with a corresponding
description. The illustrations are created by
Nirnalli Ganapathi, a well-known artist from
Karnataka. Vidwan Korgi Sankara Narayan
Upadhyaya, an established Sanskrit scholar, has
written the story which is entirely faithful to
the original Ramayana by Maharshi Valmiki.
The AIR is published in English, Hindi,
Samskrutam and Kannada.
Why AIR?
There have been very few illustrated works of Maharshi Valmiki's Ramayana.
Specifically, there has been no commensurate effort in Kannada (and other Bharatiya
languages). Hence, with the aim of bringing Ramayana to little children and with an
intent to develop creative thought in our children, this illustrated work of Ramayana is
being published.
Our aim is to publish AIR in all major Indian and foreign languages in due course. In
the initial phase, the published works will be displayed and sold in major cities of India,
most prominently in the divine city of Ayodhya. In Ayodhya, the birthplace of Shri
Rama, translated versions of the illustrated Ramayana will be made available in several
languages.
It is our hearts' desire that every household in India should have at least one copy of
the illustrated Ramayana and we wish that every child in India should read the
illustrated Ramayana. It is our aspiration that all the children of the world should be
able to read and visualise Srimad Valmiki Ramayana at a young age.

How to participate?
First, you must go through the 'Ayodhya Illustrated Ramayana' – an
illustrated book on Srimad Valmiki Ramayana published by Ayodhya
Publications Private Limited. This is the only official reference book
for the World Ramayana Championship contest. However, studying
any other material on Ramayana is also welcome.
Second, you need to enrol for the contest through our online portal.

Third, you have to appear for the contest on the date announced by us.
The contest is entirely online and you need to make the necessary
arrangements for the same.
Ayodhya Educational Trust, Bengaluru, India will publish the list of
winners on the eve of Shaurya Divas (6th December 2023). The world
champions will get a free ticket to visit Ayodhya, the vibrant birthplace
of Bhagwan Shri Rama.
