BASIC FENG SHUI OVERVIEW

Feng Shui is an objective-driven science. It’s about harnessing the Qi (energy) of your
living environment to help you achieve your goals. It’s about paying attention to your
Mind, Body and the impact of your Surroundings.

In Chinese Metaphysics, there are three factors that exert unquestionable influence
on one’s life: Heaven, Man and Earth.

Heaven mainly concerns existential circumstances that are beyond our control. Man
represents ourselves, our freewill and the actions stemming from that will. Last but
not least, Earth is the environment that shapes us. Earth is the easiest to master and
the most impactful to deploy among the three factors.

This is because we cannot change what’s given to us (Heaven) and it is incredibly

difficult to change the nature of people (Man). Afterall, we are inherently resistant to
change.

For this guide, we will be focusing on Earth factor, which also represents the study
and practice of Feng Shui, the energy that permeates all our living spaces.

With it's close proximity to the Central Business
District, Holland Village brings together an
environment of excitement and fun. The
impressive F&B scene in Holland Village
complements the bright lights of the pubs and
clubs nearby.
Residents here are spoilt for choice when it comes
to having to choose between food, work and play -
they actually have it all in one strategic place.
In Feng Shui, mountains and water are sources of
energy, known as Qi. There is an incoming Qi from
the South direction of the Holland Village and the
convergence of Qi at the junction road between
Holland Road and Holland Ave at the North
Direction.

In Feng Shui, we look at future growth areas as

being ‘in the direction of growth’. Every 20 years,
there is a capital transformation of energies that
has transformative impacts on business,
industries, countries, economies and yes, property
locations as well. We are currently on the cusp of a
major tectonic shift in energy – and it is apparent
from what we see going on all around us.
In the next energy cycle, it is ideal to have a hill or
higher ground to the South, and Holland Village fits
perfectly into this criteria of having future growth
potential.

When looking at properties to buy, those that are

able to see higher ground in the South within the
general Holland Village area, are said to have the
best future potential. If this can be couple with a
junction at the North or a water feature, this is
even better. In particular the junction of Holland
Road and Holland Ave forms a unique focal point
for Qi to gather, and should be on the radar of
property investors.

Orchard Road is known for its many shopping
malls and luxury brands. Despite the crazy
numbers of shopping malls along Orchard Road,
its beauty and attraction are more than just
shopping malls.
The presence of vital establishments, leisure
facilities and transportation services in Orchard
are some of the reasons why it appeals to property
investors.

In Feng Shui, we also consider areas that are

already prosperous, WHY they are prosperous and
if anything may impact this negatively. The current
pandemic has impacted luxury brands + retail in a
tremendous fashion, with some questioning if
Orchard Road, is still able to retain it’s luxury
charm for investors, business owners and
occupants in this area.
Our assessment has identified that the areas
surrounding Orchard Road, have higher hills or
higher ground in the vicinity. As the beneficial
energy flows from higher to lower ground, it
gathers and flows along Orchard Road.
Traditionally, this has been referred to in the Feng
Shui Classics as a Nest Formation.

Orchard Road is expected to consistently maintain

it’s standing in the property market, even with any
current dips it may face in the current pandemic
market.
Investors and property enthusiasts may want to
keep a keen eye out for those properties that have
a large open area (referred to as a ‘Bright Hall’ in
Feng Shui), as these properties have the best
opportunity to tap into the energy in the area.

Sentosa holds a very unique position where the
Singapore property market is concerned. It is one
of the few locations that is not only ranked as
being prestigious , but enjoys the peaceful serenity
of living by the ocean, that those who value privacy
will surely value.
It has no doubt been a go-to spot for tourists since
it's inception but locals now have a very rare
opportunity to capitalize on this currently
overlooked gem.

We took note that the key to the Feng Shui of

Sentosa Island, has to do with the flow of water in
and out, that make for favorable energy flows.
Brani Island, is also a key factor that facilitates the
positive collection and flow of positive energy.

As Sentosa Island is surrounded by water , we

would recommend looking into properties that
look back towards Singapore or Brani Island, for
areas with future growth potential.

As a mature town, Woodlands has a good deal of
amenities including parks, recreational facilities,
shopping centres and medical clinics.
Woodlands is most well-known for its natural
attractions, including Admiralty Park and the
promenade at Woodlands Waterfront.
Conveniently located amenities and the green and
leafy surrounds also add to the attraction of this
suburb.

Woodlands, located close to the border, benefits

from a uniquely positive flow of energy, referred to
in classical Feng Shui as a ‘Belt Formation’.
The potential for future growth in this area, is
reinforced by a gathering of Qi to the North, which
is said to again be in the direction of growth for the
next 20 year energy cycle.

Properties that are next to, or have a direct view of

the Admiralty Park or Woodlands Waterfront Park,
have the strongest potential for benefiting from
the Feng Shui energies in the area.
Properties that have a clear view of the water to
the North, are also one to keep an eye out for.

The Marina Bay district is all about the high-
energy, high-rollers and attracts those who enjoy
the glamorous and glitzy lifestyle. From the
buildings to the everyday infrastructure, Marina
Bay has been designed from the ground up to
allow the global financial elite to work, live and
enjoy life in one go-to location.
The Gardens by the Bay balances this out with it's
one-of-a-kind landscaped gardens, set just a
stones throw away from the waterfront.
Marina Bay, we can say, is all about the money.
And the Feng Shui is there to back it up. From
high-rollers, glamourous high fashion or couture
stores, to luxury retailers of every decadence,
Marina Bay screams opulence.

The energy at Marina Bay is a result of the water

flows surrounding the development.
This combined with the bays that act as ‘storage’
for this energy, translates to an area that is fast-
moving and great for finance.

Keep a keen eye out for commercial properties in

this area, as these are likely to benefit from the
energies here over the medium term.
Properties that are next to, or have a direct view of
the Marina Bay or a large open area like the
Gardens by the Bay, should be the ones to look
into.

The history of the Tiong Bahru neighborhood is
one that can be likened to the history of Singapore
itself, being one of the oldest housing estates in
the country. The recent gentrification of Tiong
Bahru has transformed this area into a hip and
happening one, without taking away from it's old-
world charms.
Tiong Bahru is located near the Singapore river ,
that runs alongside the Alexander Park Connector.
And in Feng Shui, we always say that Qi (energy)
stops at the boundaries of water.
Tiong Bahru is one of those locations that is a
sleeping giant that is awakening, but without being
one that detracts from it’s natural charm. It is
preferable in Feng Shui for having the right
balance of Yin and Yang , that we like in an area.

The main flow of energy here is beneficially vibrant

as a result of the Singapore River. We note that the
general energy here is also indicative of an area in
the direction of future growth, especially past
2025.
There are very few other locations in Singapore
that enjoy this unique Feng Shui energy.

Property investors and those looking to buy for

their own stay, may want to take advantage of the
Singapore River views, particularly closer to the
Alexandra Park Connector.
Alternatively, high rise developments with a view of
Marina Bay , Keppel Harbour or Brani Island are
also indicative of those enjoying good Feng Shui
potential.

Located within the CBD, the Tanjong Pagar district
has always been the financial and commercial
heartbeat of Singapore, since the 19th Century.
Where it once attracted impoverished migrants,
the Tanjong Pagar of today attracts hipsters,
millennials and baristas to ply their trade at the
multitude of cafes, bars and businesses.
Being located in the CBD, it has also kept pace
with the entertainment scene, with a large variety
of options to unwind after a hectic day. Tanjong
Pagar is a story of revitalization, that ties in with
the Feng Shui factors in the area.

Two separate sources of energy for the Tanjong

Pagar area indicate the potential for both
commercial, multi-use and residential property
growth.
A unique Feng Shui formation – courtesy of Brani
Island, also suggest that this area may attract
larger corporations or those with long-term growth
potential.

Properties to keep an eye out for, would be those

with a view of the water towards the Southeast.
Residential property investors may also want to
consider those that have a view of Brani Island
especially those that are due for completion after
2024.
