Reading

The student can follow the sequence of events in a text on a familiar everyday topic. They can understand simple
texts ( e.g. personal emails/ letters, narratives, biographies) and identify specific information in a simple factual, or
informative texts e.g. leaflets, brochures, short articles. They are able to understand the main information from
simple diagrams ( e.g. graphs and bar charts). They can make basic inferences from the information in a short text
and understand opinions expressed in simple language.

Writing

The student can produce short, simple texts about themselves and/or people in their wider environment using
appropriate simple structures and vocabulary with some support.

Listening

The student can recognise basic information about everyday events in familiar contexts, can understand simple
questions about free time activities, and they are able to follow short familiar picture stories. The student can
recognise basic information about everyday events in familiar contexts.

Speaking

The student can name and describe everyday objects in a basic way ( e.g. colour and size). They can ask and answer
simple questions on personal information. The student can use simple phrases and questions related to their
personal details, objects and people and they can express ability or lack of ability with regard to basic activities
using 'can' and 'can’t'.
