Investigation of the Effect Biomass Type and Mass

Concentration on Stoker Boiler Performance and Efficiency

M.S.K Tony Suryo Utomo, S.T., M.T., PhD. Dr. Muchammad, S.T, M.T.

BACKGROUND RESULT

Analysis of biomass use in co-firing is closely

related to the performance of the stoker boiler,
especially exhaust emissions. Mixing biomass with
coal is an early-stage solution to make changes in
the world of power generation towards renewable
energy. When this co-firing occurs, exhaust
emissions will be better for environmental
conditions, and the use of fossil fuels can be
gradually reduced.
This study analyzes the use of biomass both
numerically through Computational Fluid Dynamic a. b.
(CFD) simulations and experimentally through
direct tool trials. The research in the first year is
focused on analyzing biomass types for
performance cases, while the second year is
focused on biomass concentrations for efficiency
cases.

GOALS OF RESEARCH

To determine the effect of biomass type and mass

concentration on the performance and efficiency of
stoker boilers so that they can maximize the use of
renewable energy sources.
