The MRI report indicates a full thickness rupture of the patient's Achilles tendon 5cm above the insertion in the calcaneum bone. Minimal joint effusion was seen in the ankle joints with edema in the calcaneum near the tendon insertion site. All other tendons and ligaments were normal. The impression is for clinical correlation of a complete Achilles tendon tear.

A full thickness complete rupture of Achilles tendon is seen 5cm proximal to the insertion to calcaneum. There is a tendinous gap filled with STIR hyperintense signals (fluid/edema). Mild retraction of tendon ends is also seen ------ full thickness complete tear Achilles tendon. Minimal joint effusion is seen in talo tibial and sub taler joint spaces. STIR hyperintense signal seen in calcaneum near the insertion site of Achilles tendon (edema). Rest of tarsal bones and lower end of tibia and fibula reveal normal marrow signals. The anterior group of tendons viz the tibialis anterior, exterior hallucis longus, extensor digitorum longus and peroneus tertius are normal. The medial group of tendons viz the tibialis posterior, flexor digitorum longus and flexor hallucis longus are normal. The lateral group of tendons VIZ, peroneus longus and peroneus brevis are normal. The posterior group of tendons VIZ, plantaris are normal. The anterior and posterior tibio-fibular ligaments, the deltoid ligaments and calcaneo fibular ligaments are normal in alignment and signals. The neuro-vascular bundles are normal.
