Name: Badr FATOUH Course: FAS0210

Section: 14 Date: 14/9/2023 Reflection 1

Similar to my peers, I recently transitioned from high school to university. And with this shift,

I faced numerous challenges, which I had to overcome in order to succeed in university.

As soon as I arrived at the university, I immediately encountered an issue; and it was

related to food. The food offered here at AUI is not always exquisite. Sometimes, I struggle to find

good and healthy food to eat at the restaurants. Therefore, I decided to start cooking my own food.

After all, there is a whole well equipped kitchen in every residence building, so why not use it. Not

only do I get to pick what meal I make, but the food is also much healthier. Moreover, cooking food

costs a lot less than eating from the restaurants. Besides, I also started to enjoy cooking, and it has

become an activity that helps me escape the stress of university life. This has pushed me to become

better at cooking and become more responsible.

Furthermore, I learned that I am now much more independent, and that my responsibilities have

grown massively. For instance, unlike high school, there are no constant reminders about homework

or assignments. As a result, I have to constantly check my email, as well as the canvas website to stay

updated and on track, and not miss any due work. Additionally, I was always running out of time at

first, I could not keep up all my tasks and ended up leaving out some of them. But, I quickly learned

how to manage my time thanks to the different skills I learned from my classes, and in doing so, I

began to make some “to do” lists in which I write all the tasks I have to do, sort them by priority and

give them all my focus. This has taught me a valuable lesson: “it’s not about how much time you

spend on a task, it’s about the quality of the time”-Mr.Bada. I have also learned that it is necessary to

balance between all the aspects of university life in order to become a complete student.

All in all, the transition from high school to university can be very challenging. However, it is

these challenges that help the student become a better version of himself, and craft a well-rounded

human being, independent and responsible enough to adapt to any situation, ready to succeed in life

and excel in the job market.
