related to food. The food offered here at AUI is not always exquisite. Sometimes, I struggle to find
good and healthy food to eat at the restaurants. Therefore, I decided to start cooking my own food.
After all, there is a whole well equipped kitchen in every residence building, so why not use it. Not
only do I get to pick what meal I make, but the food is also much healthier. Moreover, cooking food
costs a lot less than eating from the restaurants. Besides, I also started to enjoy cooking, and it has
become an activity that helps me escape the stress of university life. This has pushed me to become
Furthermore, I learned that I am now much more independent, and that my responsibilities have
grown massively. For instance, unlike high school, there are no constant reminders about homework
or assignments. As a result, I have to constantly check my email, as well as the canvas website to stay
updated and on track, and not miss any due work. Additionally, I was always running out of time at
first, I could not keep up all my tasks and ended up leaving out some of them. But, I quickly learned
how to manage my time thanks to the different skills I learned from my classes, and in doing so, I
began to make some “to do” lists in which I write all the tasks I have to do, sort them by priority and
give them all my focus. This has taught me a valuable lesson: “it’s not about how much time you
spend on a task, it’s about the quality of the time”-Mr.Bada. I have also learned that it is necessary to
balance between all the aspects of university life in order to become a complete student.
All in all, the transition from high school to university can be very challenging. However, it is
these challenges that help the student become a better version of himself, and craft a well-rounded
human being, independent and responsible enough to adapt to any situation, ready to succeed in life
