YOUNGSTOWN BOARD OF EDUCATION SPECIAL BOARD MEETING

Attention Youngstown City School District Families:

On behalf of the YCSD, we would like to welcome you to tonight’s School Board Meeting. As public servants, the Board
works hand in hand with the Superintendent to ensure our scholars' success.

One of the Board’s main responsibilities is to help our scholars thrive while maximizing the educational opportunities
as they develop into tomorrow’s leaders, while keeping the public informed about the progress of our district.

The next three to five years will be critical to our scholars’ success. In 2021, the school board and administrative team
joined forces to create an Academic Improvement Plan to help make our students competitive once again. The plan,
which is currently being implemented, is key to the district’s success.

The School Board holds two formal public meetings each month to discuss important district topics.

The first meeting, referred to as a “Committee Meetings” are held on the second Tuesday of each month.
Administrators are present and go over a range of information including personnel, facilities and the Academic
Improvement Plan. During this time, the entire Board receives updates from each of our Committees i.e. Treasurer's
Report, Curriculum Report, Technology Report, etc. These meetings afford us the opportunity to ask the deeper
questions and get answers directly from those who manage and oversee those areas.

The second meeting of the month, which is held on the 4th Tuesday, is where action items/resolutions are enacted and
policies or expenditures are approved by a majority vote from the Board.

Public participation is welcomed and encouraged at each meeting. To make a public statement, you must arrive at least
15 minutes before the start of each meeting and sign up – which lets the Treasurer know you would like to speak. No
more than (5) minutes is reserved to make your statement. If you would like to present to the Board there is a Public
Participation Form that needs completed. The forms are available and you are allotted up to (15) minutes. (For further
