SEMESTER: OCTOBER 2023 - FEBRUARY 2024

PART A: INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENT GUIDELINE

OBJECTIVE
To expose students to the application of statistical knowledge and skills in descriptive
statistics.

OUTCOME
Students should be able to demonstrate their personal skills through descriptive statistics
assignment.

Instructions:

✓ Each student must analyze a set of secondary data (grouped data) using numerical
methods from the descriptive statistics topic as well as an appropriate graphical
methodology (histogram/ogive) using graph paper. Analyses using numerical methods
include the following:

1. Measures of Central Tendency

2. Measures of Position
3. Measures of Dispersion
4. Measures of Skewness

✓ A discussion or interpretation is made based on the chosen graph and the calculated
results.

PART B: GROUP PROJECT GUIDELINE

OBJECTIVES
1. To expose students to the application of statistical knowledge and skills in science
area.
2. To ensure that students gain good teamwork experience in communication skills.

OUTCOME
At the end of the group project, students should be able to produce a quality written report
and present the findings in a task related to statistical data analysis.

GENERAL GUIDELINE
Students are required to form a group with 3 – 4 members.

SPECIFIC GUIDELINES

COMPONENT 1: WRITTEN REPORT

1. Cover page should include UiTM logo, report title, students’ name,
students’ identification number and registered group name.

2. Report formatting as follows.

Font (size) : Arial (11)

Spacing : 1.5

Instructions:

✓ Each group will gather its own primary/ secondary data, which will include
the independent and dependent variables. The sample size is not
constrained in any way.

✓ The lecturer will use IBM-SPSS software to provide statistical results for
each group based on the primary and secondary data that the group has
provided.

✓ Each group is required to generate the chart(s) using appropriate software.

✓ The discussion or interpretation is made based on the chosen graph and the
calculated results.

✓ Each group must follow to the standardized Table of Content. (Appendix 1)
