STRANGE WORLD Solo, Age 8+, 5 min.

STORY Feed?
You awake from hyper-sleep to find yourself on a STRANGE WORLD. Your spaceship has
been wrecked beyond repair, and you are in desperate need for nourishment. Luckily,
your MATTER ANALYZER seems to be working. You can use it to judge the relative safety
of any object you come across in this new world. But ultimately, YOU must decide whether
what you encounter should be EATEN or AVOIDED. Your survival depends on your intuition.

SETTING UP THE GAME start with “4” on top


Set aside the character card, and shuffle the remaining cards, (full health)
flipping some as you do. Align ALL cards of the deck by lining up
the same numbers throughout the entire deck. Then hold the deck
in hand, like a diamond, with the number 4 at the top. This
represents your health. Finally place the character card at the place character
bottom/back of the deck. The character card is used to keep card behind deck

track of the objects you encountered, which is used for scoring. on ALL cards

OBJECTIVE
Each card represents one hour on the STRANGE WORLD and contains one object which you must interact
with during that hour. Starting with the top card of the deck, resolve each card one by one, by either EATING
or AVOIDING the object on the top card. EATING an object can increase or decrease your health, have no
effect, or outright kill you. AVOIDING an object always decreases your health.
WIN if you survive 23 hours. LOSE if your health goes below 1 or you are killed eating an object.

EATING THINGS pull back top card result


To EAT an object, first locate the RED ARROW on the Matter Analyzer (it’s near
the Estimated Safety Level). Then pull back the top card, so that the arrow
points at the RESULT on the card directly beneath it. (In the example, it points to
a green + heart.) There are four possible results:
Increase Health. Rotate entire deck clockwise 1 unit and move top card to back.

Health cannot go above 4.
Decrease Health. Rotate entire deck anticlockwise 1 unit and move top card to back.
If Health goes below 1, you lose.
No Effect on Health. Move top card to back.

Death. Game over.

AVOIDING THINGS
To AVOID an object, rotate entire deck anticlockwise (to a lower number) and move top card to back.
If Health goes below 1, you lose. Pay attention to the Matter Analyzer and avoid objects with low safety levels.

WINNING, LOSING, SCORING


If you reveal the character card during gameplay, you win! Congratulations! If you die before that, find the
character card and count the number of cards behind it. This is the number of hours you survived on the
STRANGE WORLD. (Do not count the object that killed you.) This number is also your final score.
