FATA MERGER WITH KPK

(Prospects and challenges)

federal administered tribal areas (FATA) is situated in the northwest part of Pakistan, which
along Afghanistan border. Presently, Federally Administrative Tribal Areas consist of seven
agencies namely Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, North and South Waziristan.
Except for Orakzai, all Tribal Agencies are located along the Durand Line and have a direct
impact of any developments in Afghanistan and Pakistan (especially KPK province).
The traditional Tribal Political system and Administration inherited from the British is highly
questionable because Pakistan has the Parliamentary form of the Government and Prime
Minister has executive powers, president head of the state. But in the case of Fata president
has enjoyed executive powers to rule the area, The President also share his authority governor
of KPK. The Ministry of State and Frontier Regions known as SAFRON looks after the
administrative affairs and development activities of this area. the Supreme Court and High
Court not giving any action against administrative and people. Political Agent who is the Chief
Executive in the Agency, as an executive, he ensures law and order in the area, collects
revenues and taxes, plans and coordinates development activities besides performing the
judicial duties. this system was neglected by the last 70year, due to this system, a lot of
problems rises in fate such as there no proper educational institute, low employment, very little
base human facility and huge wave of terrorism. now after neglecting almost 70 year the
government of Pakistan has merged it into KPK. but a lot criticism has started by FATA people
and one political party that FATA cannot be merged with KPK. the main reason is that they need
the province they can rule to their own administration system but the government of Pakistan
is not favor of a separate province
so, government should sit with people of FATA to for regulating an administrating system
according to constitution demand and need of people.
