After parting ways from Govinda and leaving behind the Samana way of life, Siddartha wants to explore

the materialistic world. In this quest, he travels to the city where he encounters ‘Kamala’, a mistress and
is mesmerized by her beauty. Kamala teaches him the ways to tackle his physical desires but they do not
fall in love. She introduces him to Kamasawmi, a wealthy trader, who opens his home and business for
him. Siddaratha’s ability to read, write and fast helps him flourish in his business. However,
remembering his Samana teachings, he does not base his happiness on material things like money. This
trait helps him in becoming a good businessman.
