Cadian trooper leather

PDF tutorial
Before we start painting the
miniature, we locate the
light reflections on the
leather areas by taking a
picture of it under our
desklamp – i went for 4 light
angles on this model. I
primed it in Chaos black as
it has a great shine to it. I
have added a guide for how
to locate light reflections in
the patreon post.
 Paints used :
- Mournfang brown
- Skrag brown
- Dark sand (Vallejo mc)
- Abaddon black
- Seraphim sepia (citadel wash)
We start by basecoating the leather
with a 2:1 mix of mournfang brown
& abaddon black.
We now glaze the frame of the light reflections, by
adding 1 part more of mournfang brown. Add 2 parts
of water. Ive also added scratches randomly, by
painting thin lines & dots with the same mix. Add 1
part of water. We will continue doing this in all the
steps.
We now add 1 part of skrag brown to
the previous mix & glaze further
towards the center of the light
reflections. We add scratches again.
We now add a 1/2 part of dark sand to the
previous mix & glaze the center of the light
reflections. Once again, we add scratches. We
furthermore edge highlight all edges with the
same mix.
We now add another ½ part of dark sand & glaze the
very center of the light reflections & add scratches, for
the last time. We furthermore blackline all the recesses
with abaddon black – add 1-2 parts of water.
We now glaze all the leather areas with
seraphim sepia – 1-2 layers is enough.
